**The Story
It was a beautiful morning, and it was not any ordinary morning, it was a morning where everybody was free from Sauron's curse and from the darkness of his power.
There on the healings bed laid, Arien Calithil, with her dark chestnut brown hair spread all over the white sheets. Her Lily-pad green eyes were staring at the ceiling, she was injured from the war upon Mordor's gate.
She had a huge gash on her waist and another one on her shoulder from a troll, yes! she was good in Bow and sword but the reason why she was injured was because she protected Aragorn using her body to shield him from the deadly blow of the ugly troll.
Her heart ached for the slightest sight of Aragorn, she hasn't seen him since she had taken the blow. A tear slid down her beautiful face but she stopped from making any sounds for she heard footsteps coming towards her room, but she already knew who it was. She knew those footsteps too well for almost 200 years.
"My dear Mellon nin. How are you faring?" Legolas asked as he appeared at the door. She smiled at him and tried to sit up but moving her back shot a pain through her whole body and she whimpered.
"Please, You need rest. If it wasn't for Mithrandir you wouldn't be here. Your wounds are deadly but your spirit remains well. It was foolish of you to take that blow." he said as he sat at the edge of her bed and had one hand over her waist.
Arien chuckled and said "Please do tell me, if it was Aragorn who had taken the blow, would he be here?" "Only the Valar knows Arien. You don't know how worried I was." Legolas said as he stood up.
Arien closed her eyes and relaxed as she felt the wind on her body. "You should be well enough to attend Aragorn's coronation. It is tomorrow at first light... I also heard a rumor that he already has a queen." Legolas said as he headed towards the door.
Arien's eyes shot open, full of sadness and full of sorrow. She always denied her feelings before the fellowship ever happened but as she traveled side by side with him her feelings were overwhelming. She loved him dearly.
She know not of his feelings.
"Please Mellon nin, let me be. I am in too much pain." Arien said in a whisper trying her best to hold back the tears. Legolas came up to Arien gave her his secret smile and said "Please do not dwell on the pain, my heart won't survive if I see that you will fade." he kissed Arien's forehead and left.
As soon as Legolas was out of the door tears streamed down her face, she can't get out the words of Aragorn out of her head when they were in Rohan,
"Arien, I can't return the feelings you have for me." Aragorn said while in Arien's room, looking out the window. Arien came towards Aragorn and put a hand on his shoulder, "Arwen is a friend of mine, I could never betray her like that. Yes! I have feelings for you but I don't expect anything in return." her soft voice spoke as the rain outside poured.
Arien touched her lips and remembered how they shared a very intimate kiss.
Aragorn pulled Arien into a long friendly hug and said "If this was a different world I would have taken you now and loved you until the earth crumbles beneath us. But no! I can't love you." Arien felt the tears threatening to come out.
"But you do love me?" she asked but there was no answer. The hug was going on for too long. She pushed him away and tried to walk away but Aragorn grabbed her arm and spun her around so they were chest to chest.
Arien looked into Aragorn's eyes and so did he, before Arien could look away Aragorn captured her lips with his. They both stood there in the middle of the room sharing a long and passionate kiss. Arien's head was dizzy, no one ever kissed her the way Aragorn did. Aragorn pulled away as soon as he realized what he was doing and he whispered "This will not happen again."
But it did happen again, when Aragorn fell off the cliff on the way to helms deep she was crushed. She would have faded if Aragorn didn't came back. Once she knew he was alive she rushed into the arms of Aragorn and that night Aragorn went to her room and they shared the same kiss they had when they were in Rohan.
After the battle of helms deep, when they were in Dunland and they were celebrating for their Victory. They found themselves making out in Arien's room. and when they were on the ship of the pirates they both had a deep conversation as if their souls touched.
When they were riding out to the gates of Mordor his final words were 'I'm Sorry. I shouldn't have led you on... My heart belongs to Arwen.'
Arien was now sobbing, she was confuse on how she feels towards Aragorn, at first she was okay from admiring in the distance but now she wanted to feel his touch.
Arien soon drifted off into a sleep that was haunted by HIM.
**
Arien woke up and found that it was already dark, she slowly got up noticing that the pain was bearable. She slipped on a simple white dress and walked into the halls of the palace of Gondor.
She went outside to the farthest where it overlooked the whole city. Gondor was beautiful but at times she would miss the trees of her beloved home, the great greenwood or now known as Mirkwood.
She breathed in the fresh air until a pair of footsteps came near and she jumped because it was so near, she turned around and met a familiar pair of eyes, and those lovely eyes belonged to only one person, Aragorn.
"I see you are well now." he said as he was in a white tunic with black leggings. Arien ignored him and stared out the view of the open green grass. She was startled as she felt his arms snaked around her waist, she tried to push him away but he put his head on her shoulder and whispered into her ears "Thank you."
She could feel the tears in her eyes but she dared not to let them spill, no not in front of him. She doesn't want to show him that she is weak.
She finally was out of Aragorn's arms and turned around to look at him and she hissed "Stay away from me!" but it was obvious in her voice that she was sad. Before she could walk away he grabbed her by the shoulders and kissed her, like he always did.
Arien's tears fell, and she could not fight back for she loved his kisses. She kissed back for moment trying to savor this last kiss that she was to share with Aragorn.
She pushed away and now he could see her tears, Aragorn was also confused. His heart belongs to Arwen but he could feel that his soul was connected to Arien. He loves them both dearly and dares not to hurt them in any way.
"Please Aragorn, for everybody's sake especially mine. Don't do this again. I don't want to fade away. Please, Leave me alone!" Arien sobbed. "Just give me a reason Arien why I can't be with you?" Aragorn asked Arien looked into his eyes and said "You want a reason, you just told me a few days ago that your heart belongs to Arwen and the kiss shall never happen again, I will make sure your words stay true." she sobbed and ran towards the palace direction leaving a heart broken Aragorn behind.
Aragorn thought 'what am I to do when love leads you to two lovely paths?'
**
Arien was already up early in the morning in her finest Green dress,
She was putting on some cream below her eyes so no one would know that she has been crying all night. Especially from Legolas. but then she heard a knock on her door,
"Legolas I'm not yet do--" she was cut off as soon as she saw who was standing at her door. Arwen glided across from the room to Arien.
Arien was shy and nervous for Arwen knew of her doings with Aragorn, Arien was afraid because even though her and Arwen aren't that close they were still good friends. "Sorry M'lady I didn't expect you." Arien said as she bowed down.
Arwen smiled and said "Here, let me help you with your hair." Arien sat down as Arwen did her hair in silence. As soon as Arwen was done they both looked into the mirror and Arwen smiled.
Arien stood up and turned around to face Arwen, "Please Arwen, I am terribly sorry--" Arien was cut off again, "No need to be, I came here with a heavy heart and did some thinking. If I choose Aragorn and become Mortal, the elves shall perish for no one can replace Lady Galadriel except me." Arwen said in her angelic voice.
"What do you mean?" Arien asked, "I want you to have Aragorn, My destiny doesn't lead me to him. Even though I love him dearly." Arwen said as she looked down and clutched her heart, Arien felt sad for her friend.
Arien took Arwen hand that laid on her chest and said "No Mellon Nin, Aragorn is not someone who we shall give freely to anyone we choose. He is human, he chooses you over me. Let's let him love anyone who he chooses." Arwen smiled at Arien and they both pulled each other into a friendly hug.
Until there was a knock on the door, "Arien, Lady Arwen it is time." Legolas said standing at the door in his Royal outfit. I hold Legolas' arm as we went to the court yard where the coronation was.
**
Arien and the other elves were in the back making a line, like a parade to reveal the Queen of Gondor, Arwen. Aragorn's wife. Arien's heart was heavy to reject what Arwen offered but Arien wanted Aragorn to choose who he truly loves.
Of course it was Arwen.
Arien was in front of the parade with Legolas for they were the companion's of Aragorn in the Fellowship. As soon as Aragorn was done. The parade walked forward. Arien's arm in legolas' arm. They both smiled as they met Aragorn.
'He looked so handsome in his crown. Too bad I never got to kiss him when he was king. But still underneath all that he was the same ranger that he always was but he will always be a true king.' Arien thought.
Aragorn's eyes wouldn't leave Ariens. His eyes were full of sorrow but as Arien and Legolas stepped aside to let Arwen pass who was holding the elven banner, Aragorn's eyes changed into love... And it broke Arien's heart.
Aragorn took away the banner from Arwen's hands and looked into her beautiful eyes. Before he could kiss Arwen, Arwen put a finger to his lips and whispered that only Aragorn could hear, "What does your heart truly desire? Me or Arien?"
Aragorn's eyes left Arwens and he looked at Arien who was silently crying bowing her head down while holding on Legolas' arm.
Aragorn was confused, "When you left me, you brought your heart with you. You fell in love with Arien. I am only a past memory Aragorn. You're a different man. Your heart speaks of someone new." Arwen said. Arwen wasn't hurt, she was happy because she truly loved Aragorn, that she wanted to make sure that Aragorn was happy.
Then Aragorn made up his mind, he could never love two but one. He cupped Arwen's face and kissed her forehead. He looked into Arwen's eyes for the last time and she whispered "Go to her."
Aragorn stepped aside and stood in front of Arien. Arien looked up with red puffy eyes. Everyone was whispering around. Even though everyone adored and respected Arwen everyone wanted Arien and Aragorn together because They shined like no other couple do.
"Why do you cry on such a Joyous day?" Aragorn asked and he asked again "Give me a reason why I shouldn't be with you?" She was about to say something but Aragorn pulled her into another kissed and everyone started to applaud.
Gandalf released some fireworks, because he knew that Arien loves Aragorn and that one day they will end up together.
Arien couldn't believe it, that Aragorn actually choose her over the Evenstar of Imladris. She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. As they pulled back both of them smiled at each other even Arwen.
Legolas gave Aragorn Arien's arm, and soon Arien and Aragorn walked through the city but they stopped at the hobbits. The hobbits bow down and Aragorn said "No, you bow down to no one." and then everyone bow down to the hobbits.
**
The night went on celebrating, Arien spend some quality time with the hobbits even Legolas. She owed a lot to him, she could have never gotten through anything without his help.
But as for Arien and Aragorn, they got married and had four kids together. Even though Aragorn died years later, Arien didn't fade for she also loved her children. Even though Aragorn wasn't at her side. She didn't regret for she had a reason to stay on Middle-Earth.
