A/N: Now this is my first attempt at something like this guys so I hope I do well. As can be expected with a Halloween one shot there will be some slightly graphic images and some music to play so please prepare yourselves. Also, when you come to the music please just go ahead and play them as there won't be a message from me asking you to do so. I need this all to flow. :)

"Creaky Door"

AUTHOR'S POV

So it's another Halloween evening. The towns people are up to their usual shenanigans this time of year giving random people a good scare with the scariest costumes imaginable. Kids going door to door to get some goodies in their bags. Costume parties here and there going on and inside the Bourgeois home Laurent is as excited as can be because being a holiday person already plus given the opportunity to dress up for one is even better. He'll be leaving for one of those parties soon and his costume is, well, interesting...

(A/N: For the purpose of this one shot this will actually be a mask versus make up :)

He and Larry were invited to this party but Laurent will be the only one going as Larry isn't in much of a party mood like Laurent is. Most of the time he prefers staying at home anyway, particularly on Halloween so he can pass out candy since he adores children. He enjoys seeing the many happy and smiling faces of them excitedly exclaiming "Trick or Treat" while being dressed up as various characters from fairies to action heroes and such. Larry and Laurent are insanely in love with each other because of the many ways they're so much alike but they definitely differ in other areas. Larry is very much a homebody who prefers the comfort of home and since this holiday is part of the fall season the smell of pumpkin spice and a cozy fireplace is perfect for him. Laurent enjoys moments at home as well but what he loves mostly are the outdoors and party atmospheres where he can be his lively, silly self. Even in their differences they are the perfect balance for each other. Larry wasn't surprised at all when Laurent accepted the party invitation. In fact, he just smiled when he saw how excited he was about it. Now with the night of the party finally here and in full costume he's ready to go out and enjoy himself. Larry is curled up on the couch with a blanket over him, his pumpkin spice latte placed on the coffee table and is heavily engrossed in a romance novel. He doesn't even hear Laurent creep up behind him then suddenly...

Laurent: "YAHHHH"!

Larry: *jumps* "Fuck Laurent! Don't scare me like that"!

Laurent takes off his mask then looks down at Larry...

Laurent: *laugh* "What you mean? It's Halloween bebe".

Larry: "Yeah but you really scared me baby. My heart jumped in my throat".

Laurent: "Aww I'm sorry my love".

Larry: *sigh and smile* "It's oki. Just please don't do it again".

Laurent bends down to give him a sweet kiss then raises up...

Laurent: *smile* "I won't do it again, I promise".

Still smiling Larry winks then goes back to his book...

Laurent: "You sure you don't want to come with me"?

Larry: "I'm sure Laurent. But even if I did want to come I don't have a costume".

Laurent: "You don't need a costume. Come as the angel you are", he replies sweetly.

Larry smiles then slowly looks up at his love with butterflies in his belly at what he just heard from Laurent's lips...

Larry: *smile* "Why are you so sweet to me"?

Laurent: *smile* "Because you're the sweetest thing in my life".

Larry says nothing...just puckers his lips and waits for another sweet kiss. They look at each other with their eyes smiling just as hard as their lips...nothing but silence between them. Then the door bell rings and Laurent instantly becomes excited...

Laurent: "Us first trick or treaters"!

He starts to put on his mask to go answer the door but Larry quickly yet playfully stops him...

Larry: *laugh* "Laurent no. I'll get the door".

Laurent: "But I want to give out candy before I leave bebe".

Larry: "But you might scare the kids with the mask".

Laurent: "Oki. I'll leave off the mask but I'll leave my apron and gloves on, deal"?

Larry: *smile* "Deal".

Laurent's face lights up and he quickly walks over, picks up the bowl of candy on the table next to the door and opens it. Larry watches with heart eyes at the way Laurent interacts with them...

"Trick or Treeeeat!!

Laurent: *smile* "Ahh look at you all". *pause* "I see a pirate, a beautiful genie, the chucky doll and batman"!

He then looks at the adult who's with the group of kids and sees an adorable baby boy dressed as a frog...

Laurent: "Aww and the little bebe. He's so cute".

Parent: *smile* "Thank you".

Laurent: *smile* "Welcome". *pause* "Well here you go kids".

Laurent drops a handful of goodies in each bag and after they say "thank you" in unison they happily skip to the next home. Laurent closes the door and turns around to a smiling Larry...

Laurent: *smile* "What"?

Larry: *smile* "You're so good with kids".

Laurent steps forward to hug him then look into his eyes...

Laurent: "Thank you my love". *kiss* "I'm leaving for the party now oki"?

Larry: *smile* "Oki baby. Have fun".

Laurent: "I promise I won't stay out long".

Larry: "It's oki Laurent. Enjoy yourself. I'll be oki".

Laurent smiles and nods before grabbing his mask and his jacket. He gives Larry one more soft kiss then makes a goofy face to make him laugh then leaves. Now Larry is alone to pass out the candy and enjoy a night of TV until Laurent is home...

"Thank you mister"!

Larry: *smile* "Welcome".

Since Laurent left Larry has answered the door several times to give out candy and the adorable, rambunctious bunch that just left was about the fifth group of kids. In between he's made himself a small dinner and has watched some Halloween specials on TV. He thinks about Laurent and wonders if he's having a great time. He's certain that is and is more than likely the life of the party as always. Larry smiles at that thought then decides to pop in the first movie. He looks at the time first and sees that it's been a couple of hours since the first group of children left and he figures that pretty soon it will be calming down and everyone will retreat to their homes for the evening. Before going back over to the couch he decides popcorn and soda will be the perfect snack for movie time. He takes out a large skillet, pours about a teaspoon of oil in it and tosses in the popcorn seeds. While he's waiting for it to pop there's a ring of the doorbell. Thinking it's just another group of children he walks over, picks up the candy then opens the door...but no one is standing there. His face scrunches into confusion then he pokes his out and looked to his right...then his left. When he looks to his left he sees a young girl with a white gown and long hair. He also notices a baby doll dropped at her side...

Larry is startled that this little girl is by herself and seemingly wandering so he decides to call out to her...

Larry: "Are you oki"?

The little girl slowly turns around but her face was completely covered with her hair. Thinking that it's just in the spirit of Halloween Larry isn't spooked out by it although he still wonders why she's alone...

Larry: "Your mom or dad close by"? *silence* "Can I call them to come and get you"?

Not one peep comes out of her. Instead, she simply turns around and walks away. Larry's face goes back to confusion as he watches her. When she disappears around the corner he steps back inside and shuts the door then places the candy back on the table. That's when he hears the popcorn popping out of control so after whispering "shit" to himself he runs to the kitchen to make sure it hasn't burned. Thankfully it hasn't so he retrieves a large bowl from the cabinet to dump it in then grabs a strawberry soda out of the fridge and walks over to the couch. He makes himself comfortable then grabs the remote to roll the movie...

Roughly thirty minutes into it most of the popcorn has been eaten but his soda is already gone so he stands up to go and get another. When he does the doorbell rings...again. He looks at his watch because he thought for sure the neighborhood kids are in their homes for the night but he figured some may have gotten a late start for whatever reason so he goes over to open it prepared to hand out candy. Again, he doesn't see anyone at first glance...but when he pokes his head out and looks both ways no one is there this time. "I know I heard the bell ring. Where did they go so fast", he asks himself. He then looks up into the sky and notices that the clouds are grey as if it's going to storm any minute. The moment he shuts the door and turns around he hears a loud crash of thunder. Normally Larry isn't scared of thunder at all but it came so suddenly and so loudly that jumping at the force of it is inevitable. "Relax Larry, it's just thunder". He exhales then makes his way over to the couch...grabbing his soda that he initially got up for on the way. He cracks it open, takes a sip then leans back to finish watching the movie. As the movie progresses there aren't any distractions of the door bell ringing so he's sure his night will end with him remaining curled up on the couch. Just him and the TV...but then he hears a sound even through the semi-loud volume on the TV. It resembles a knocking sound. He's unsure of what it is and having never heard a sound like this before in their home he isn't sure what to think. Nonetheless he stands up and follows it to investigate. It leads to their bedroom and when he hears the sound coming from the window he gazes at it for several moments. The blinds are closed so naturally he's cautious about going over to see what it is. The knock has been constant since he went searching for it so he thinks that perhaps it's merely a tree branch hitting up against the window because of the storm so he decides to turn around and go back...but when he does the knocks keep going and they seem to have a rhythm to them so he figures someone is behind it. Whoever this is seemingly getting angrier and therefore knocking harder. Now he has no choice so he slowly walks over to peek through the blinds. To his surprise he doesn't see anyone at the window so he breathes a sigh of relief...but then he looks further out and in the middle of the street is the same little girl that he talked to earlier and what makes it even more bothersome is she's already looking in his direction. Of course that startles him but he tries to keep his cool. He thinks that maybe she's lost and just too afraid to respond to anyone who's tried to help her so he decides to call for additional help. As he's making his way to his phone he hears another loud crash of thunder that makes him jump yet again and quicken his pace to his phone because this is becoming even more creepy for him. When his cell phone isn't where he thinks it is he picks up the receiver to their home phone to call out...but when he brings it to his ear he doesn't hear a dial tone. There's another crash of thunder which is much louder and stronger...so much so that the TV flickers off and the few lights that are on went out as well. "Shit". He exhales then feels his way towards the kitchen to get the flashlight out of the drawer. He turns it on and goes back over to the couch to sit and wait for the power to come back. After sitting for several moments he hears another strange sound so he's beside himself now. No power, no idea where his cell phone is and now there's another noise to investigate. He slowly stands up and with the flashlight shining ahead of him he slowly goes to see what it is...his heart beginning to thump. Larry's steps are slow and light and as he follows the sound of what appears to be a creaky door he starts to think that maybe Laurent and a few of their friends are playing a trick on him since he decided to stay home from the party so he calls out, "oki Laurent. This isn't funny". Terror fills his voice as the fear inside of him steadily builds. With his voice even shakier now he calls out again, "Laurent? The fun is over now oki? You got me so you can come out now". The only thing Larry can hear after saying this is the same creaky sound. His anxiety increases as the sounds leads him towards the basement. When he's finally standing in front of it sure enough the door is open but only partially although something is causing it to wave back and forth thus causing the eerie sound. He softly places his hand on it and pushes it open then immediately puts the flashlight on the stairs. Not seeing anything at the bottom doesn't relieve his fears as there's still a full basement below him in darkness. He looks left then right before slowly walking down the stairs. He's so nervous that he thinks his knees are going to buckle as he takes each step but he holds it together. Finally at the bottom and pointing the flashlight all around he doesn't see anything unusual...at first. When he points it to the corner there's the little girl causing Larry to jump. This makes the third time he's seen her. Now she's inside the home and he doesn't even know how she got there...

Larry: "How did you get in here"?

*silence*

Larry: "Who are you"?

The silence remains and Larry is actually starting to get slightly annoyed...until she finally speaks...

Girl: "He's going to get you".

Larry: *looks confused* "Who's going to get me"?

The little girl slowly brings her arm up and points. Larry slowly turns his head around and standing there is a large man dressed in shreds, a face that's indescribable but extremely frightening. He has something at his side and Larry looks down at it but before he can even process what it is he sees the man pull the chord on it and he quickly realizes it's a chainsaw. Larry's eyes widen and the next second he's turning around and running for the stairs...

He skips every other step...his heart pulsating faster than it ever has. When he reaches the door the sweat on his palms prevent him from turning the knob at first but he finally gets it open. No sooner than he steps on the other side and slams the door shut the chainsaw is splitting it down the middle. Larry runs swiftly to the back door and once outside he takes off running. He runs to as many homes as he can and frantically knocks on each door...but this monster is really quick so he has to take off running again before he catches him. The last thing he wants is to be like the people in the scary movies that do stupid things such as the famous trip and fall...but being in this scary reality and his adrenaline pumping as hard it is it's kind of hard to keep a straight run, especially in the night. He quickly trips and falls...banging his knee in the process but he hears the chainsaw very close so he picks himself up and even with a limp he keeps running. He's trying desperately to get this maniac off of him so he starts going off in odd directions to hopefully throw him off. From a long distance he can see a light and what appears to be people on the outside. Perhaps a few parents late in taking their kids trick or treating or maybe some teenagers out and enjoying the Halloween festivities. He tries his best to pick up his pace because the quicker he can get around other people the greater the likelihood he will receive help...but one thing will deter him from getting there. There's a large hole completely naked to the eye ahead of him and the moment he runs over it he falls again. Nearly out of breath and his knee hurting even more he struggles to get up and continue running for help. Just when he thinks he has the strength the sound of the chainsaw sound is directly behind him. He turns around on his back and now he's looking up into the evil eyes of this chainsaw maniac. Breathing hard he pleads for his life. "Please! Don't kill me"!! The chainsaw revs up and the next thing Larry sees is this crazy man lifting it in the air then bringing it down to strike him. Larry's arms fold over his eyes and all he sees is darkness as yells, "NOOOOOOOOO"!!

Laurent: "Larry! Larry wake up"!!

Laurent continues to shake him until Larry is startled out of his sleep. With his chest heaving out of control and his eyes wide he looks up at Laurent...

Larry: "Laurent", he breathes out.

Laurent: "Yeah it's me. It's oki. You just had a nightmare".

Larry sits up and runs his hands through his fro. Then...

Larry: "The little girl in white. Where is she"?

Laurent: *looks confused* "Who are you talking about bebe"?

Larry: "The little girl. She...she was outside but then I went downstairs and I saw her then...."

By this point Larry's eyes are darting in confusion as he struggles to tell Laurent everything that happened...

Laurent: "Larry I promise it was just a bad dream. No one is here but you and me".

With his chest still heaving slightly he looks up at Laurent...

Larry: "You sure"?

Laurent: "Yeah". *pause* "Bebe what did you watch? I've never seen you like this before".

Larry: "I...I don't remember".

Larry looks up at a still very confused Laurent then he notices his costume and remembers the party he went to. Trying his best to sound normal...

Larry: "Tell me about the party baby".

Laurent: "I'll tell you tomorrow. I think you need to get a good nights sleep".

Larry: "Yeah...yeah oki. I just need to clean up first".

Laurent: "I'll get it bebe. Please go and get in the bed".

Larry: "Oki. Thank you baby".

Laurent: "Welcome. I'll be in there soon".

Larry groggily stands up and walks to the bedroom while Laurent cleans up the small mess. He glances at the movies on the table and one of them is a horror movie so he figured Larry must have watched that one to have a nightmare that put him completely out of it. Nonetheless he cleans up everything then shut the lights off and makes his way to the bedroom...but before he gets there he's stopped dead in his tracks from hearing something odd. He slowly turns his head toward the basement and his eyes scrunched in confusion at the sound of that same creaky door...
