"Remember Steven...you're doing this not only for you, but for her."

This was it. This was the day Steven had been waiting for. Since a week ago he had dreamed of today...the day that he'll finally marry his true love and prove to the gems that he was old enough to make his own decisions and to be with who he wants, wether it be human or gem. In this case, it was beautiful gem. A gem with a perfect cut and would be the only one to truly understand - to truly feel - what he was feeling. He didn't know he'd fall in certain love with her, he didn't even think they'd get past being friends. But something...a connection maybe...slowly sparked between them the more they saw and thought of each other. Steven endlessly thought of her every night, dreaming of that laugh he loved, and found himself visiting Homeworld quite often for her entertainment only. It took a while but he finally realized he saw her as not just a friend or a playmate. But as the one he's been missing all this time. That one peice that would complete him.

The first sign of his serious feelings were when she first came to visit Earth once again. They hung out, having played games of all sorts. Then there was the tour of the city. It was highly awkard considering the citizens were still upset about the whole injector thing. Even now it was hard to convince them that she was a changed gem for the better. "Oh well, they're no fun anyways," she had told him that day. "As long as my best buddy forgives me, that's all that matters!"

Afterwards, they lay on the cool sand that night and tried naming all the constellations they could. Steven was the first to catch the Little and Big Dipper, however Spinel caught most of them. It was when they faced each other when he noticed her eyes were like the stars; beautiful, mysterious, and radiant. They were hypnotizing and even Polaris couldn't match they're shine. They caught themselves staring into one another's souls, if gems even had souls, and there was a spark between them as if they knew this was no ordinary feeling. Something was odd about that feeling, but it felt so positive they couldn't complain.

Steven began hanging out with her more and the time he was going to confess his feelings was also the day Spinel planned to confess hers. He remembers it like it was yesterday and how happy he felt when she made the accidental-confession. They had met on the beach, the same spot they felt the first connection. She looked a bit flustered and confused when he first saw her. At first, he thought something was wrong.

"Hey...Steven?" She had said quietly, rubbing her arm nervously.

"Yeah, what is it? Is anything wrong?" Steven asked, trying to hold back his panicky nature.

"I-I don't know. I just feel funny. Both on Homeworld and Earth, wherever I go and whenever...someone....gets brought up I feel it. I feel like I've felt this before, but I don't know. It's like if I had a heart, it would be beating real fast. And the person I think about...They're super duper special to me. I just don't know why I feel this way, or what it is. Am I sick? Is my gem screwed up?" She seemed really shy and confused, thinking her gem was in need of a fix up for reals. Steven thought he knew what she felt, but hated he fact he didn't know who she was thinking about.

"So..you get this feeling whenever you think about that person?" He asked. She nodded, explaining some more.

"Yes! I think about them all day and all night! Yellow asks me why I get so distracted but I won't tell her because I'm scared she'll make fun of wittle ol' me. If she even knew at all if I did tell her. It makes me happy thinking of this person. But why?"

"Well...I feel that way too. I know what you're feeling." At this point Steven wished he didn't give any implyment he had feelings for her. She was thinking of someone else! This confession would only be vetoed. She looked at him, curiousity in those star-like eyes. "It's love."

She was quiet, thinking about that word. Love...was that really it? "Love. I'm in love."

"Yeah...and I am too..." Steven said quietly, feeling instant regret. "This may sound stupid now that you told me you love someone else but...I love you. I never knew it til a bit while ago, but I love you. Not as a friend, but something more."

"Steven, you really love me?"

This was cringe. What was she gonna think of him now? "Yes, I love you! And I know it's crazy but-" He was silenced, her putting her finger on his lips to shush him. He thought she was disappointed in him, prepared for rejection. But instead, she took his hands into her own, and said lovingly,

"It's you. You're the one that's always in my mind. I'm in love with you Steven!"

He never will forget that night, where he twirled her around and shared their first kiss. It was passionate, and it was like the world revolved around them. And now, he was to seal that with the most important kiss of his life.

When they told Connie a few days later, she was very happy that Steven found the one for him, and wished them the best of luck. With that confidence, they were sure the gems would praise them! After all, they wanted what was best for him, right? And this gem he had with him was the best. His queen. His rose petal. His love.

After breaking the news, it wasn't exactly what they hoped for. On Garnet's side, Ruby and Sapphire couldn't come to an agreement. Sapphire thought it was cute while Ruby? Not so much. Amethyst was a bit better, giving a weak 'Congrats, bro' but showed little meaning. She had her doubts too, adding a 'I don't think it's a good idea. But whatever works for you.' The one who reacted most violently was Pearl, going as far as breaking out the spear to try and poof her. Sure, Steven knew his bride-to-be had made mistakes, but he didn't think she deserved shattering. "You're not going to hurt my baby again!" Pearl shouted that day. "I won't let you!"

It took her to run from the beach house in complete tears to get away from Pearl's anger. It was a few days before they spoke again in private, his love not feeling accepted at all.

"It's ok Steven...maybe they're right. I'm still a monster."

"But you're not. They're not perfect, no one is. If they can't accept us, then so be it. All I need is you. As a matter of fact, I want us to be together. Forever. And if you don't believe me I'll come to you and prove it myself."

She didn't believe it but he kept his promise and came. With a surprise of his own...

"Spinel...calm down...outside is your husband. All you have to do is get this over with and you'll be free. Together."

Spinel looked in the mirror, her face stained with fresh tear marks. They were mixed with happy tears and the tears Pearl caused her to have earlier today. She hadn't gotten over she and Steven getting married and running off to Homeworld, and made it clear she hated them being together. But Steven always told her to think positive and think about the life they'd have in the future. They've planned on having a family, just thinking about it brought happiness into her nonexistent heart. Pearl overheard that conversation, but was soon proven wrong when Steven told her that Spinel wouldn't have to give up her form. They had figured out a way to keep her so she and all of their children could live.

"Oh Steven..." she told herself, observing her beautiful reflection. She wore a stunning black wedding gown with a black vail, she couldn't wait for Steven to see her like this! Spinel remembered how this came to be. It all started when he came to Homeworld after she was feeling down in the dumps over the confession to the gems about the relationship. She was still crying, heartbroken by the previous events. She was in Pink's old room, sulking when he came in to her rescue. She was happy to see him, no doubt. But her spirit was still shattered.

Steven was her knight in shining armor. She didn't know what she'd do without him. He did say he was coming to prove his love, whatever that meant, though she honestly wasn't in the mood. All she planned on doing was sulking all day to herself. When he wept the tears from her face, it showed genuine love and concern he had for her, which was one of the many things she loved about him. His humor, his astonishing looks, and his care for others. It was like her perfect dream guy traits rolled into one. Not only that, but he was far more trusting than his mother, which was something she never thought she'd say about the son of a monster.

He tried convincing her that he would heal her from all the hate she was given and he loved her to the point he'd shatter for her. Spinel was flattered, sure, but shattering wouldn't make her pain go away. If anything she should've shattered Pink when she had the chance. But then...he wouldn't be here, would he?

"Spinel...you're more than I could ask for and I wouldn't replace you even if Pearl held her spear to my neck." He had told her, holding her hand. "Please, if you don't believe how much you mean to me, I brought proof that'll tell how much this relationship means to me, but also how much it means to you."

She was confused at first, before he brought out a small box and opened it, revealing a small ring with a spinel in the center. "St-Steven..." she stuttered, seeing him getting on one knee. "What is this?"

"It's an engagement ring." He explained, taking her hand. "I know, we've only been dating for a couple of weeks. But I hold the fact I love you any longer. This'll be the path we've been waiting for. And...I can't see my future with anyone else. Not with anyone other than you. Spinel, will you marry me?"

Not that she knew exactly what a marriage was, but she knew it was more than a party or a celebration. It was something that connected them together, letting everyone know that they are a power couple and it was sign that the love they had was stronger than any iron. The ring was delicate and precious, like her. And she knew if she accepted this, they could finally start their own life and Steven could live with her. Yes. Yes, Steven can live with her! Then they have the freewill to do anything! After all, the Diamonds already accepted them as boyfriend and girlfriend. So what's the bad thing?

Tears filled her eyes again, but not with sadness or pity. It was out of joy. "Yes! I will marry you, Steven Universe!"

It was an unforgettable moment that led to this day. Both of them ready to face each other and wed. The Diamonds were there also, and thanks to them the word spread about the marriage. Some Homeworld gems were rejoiced, and that was good enough for them. Despite what the CGs say or what the Beach Citizens argue, they were getting married.

"I can't wait to see my groom..." she swooned.

"I can't wait to see my bride..." Steven sighed lovingly from outside. Soon, the doors of the house opened, and Spinel was revealed. She was the most gorgeous thing he'd ever seen, even more so with that ebony black gown. Nothing could compare. She walked down the isle gracefully, holding a bouquet of roses in her black gloved hands. Blue tried to keep herself from crying at this moment, but failed. After all, this was the moment of truth. Who could help shedding a few tears?

"You look beautiful." Steven said with a smile, causing her to blush madly.

"You do too. I mean! Not beautiful! But- argh- Uh....Handsome!" Spinel finally got out, blushing more. "Yeah, you look, really handsome."

He chuckled quietly at her stuttering, it was always quite cute to him.

A now regular sized White took the stand, ready to pronounce them man and wife. "Thank you, for showing up for my Starlight's and this wonderful gem's wedding everyone. While some may not have agreed on this, I for one am glad that Starlight has found someone. We're here to celebrate the love of Steven Universe and Spinel, who have found each other's hearts and changed each other for the better. Would you like to exchange vows?"

"Spinel, I'm proud to have so many witnesses here to witness that I take you as wedded wife."

Spinel blushed lightly. "I wish to have and hold you from this day forward."

"For the better."

"Or worse. And richer,"

"And poorer. In sickness..."

"And in health."

They looked into each other's eyes, smiling. "Til death do us part."

"To the end." Steven said.

"And back again," Spinel finished.

White wept a couple tears before saying, "Steven, you may now kiss the bride."

Steven swept her off her feet and dipped her, both of them sharing a pasisonate kiss as Spinel wrapped her arms around his shoulders. This was it, the final confirmation of their love. And wether the others liked it or not they were to be together til death do them part.

The kiss ended and they hugged each other tightly, not wanting to let go. "Come on, lovebirds," Yellow sniffled, trying not to show her tears. "Off to Homeworld we go."

They were lifted by Blue onto the ship, and they gave the others one last wave before taking liftoff. Spinel never thought she'd find someone to love her. Steven never thought he'd find someone to understand him. And now there was she, the Bride of Steven.

And she wouldn't have it any other way.
