Written to Me

Hi, everyone! This is the second to last day of Minjoon one-shots. This one is sort of based off of real life, but not. Only some of the members of BTS are actually BTS. Others are just normal citizens. I think I made it pretty clear who is what, but if you don't understand, shoot me a comment. Now, let's get into the chapter.

Jimin sighs as he sits in behind the counter of the convenience store. It is rather quiet, no one has really entered the store since earlier this morning. It was pretty much just Jimin and no one else. The only amusement he had received was from his phone and the constant stream of messages from his friends. He glances down at his phone and frowns. There were no new messages. He shrugs, they were probably busy doing things. Jin hyung is always trying out for different roles and stuff. Hobi hyung would usually be practicing for a dance competition or something. Jimin sighs as he glances out the window. No one seems to be approaching the store. It looks like it's just going to be him for another couple of hours. At least, until his co-worker comes in for the night shift. Jimin slouches a little and the store falls into a quiet lull. If only he weren't such a diligent worker, he would take a nap right this very instant. The entire convenience store is silent except for the music that plays over the loudspeaker. Jimin's boss hates noise of any kind, especially music. Jimin disagrees a hundred percent, he needs it. Especially, when he's standing in an empty store with no other form of human contact. Some sort of noise calms him. His boss hasn't caught him yet, so what she doesn't know won't kill her. The song switches to the voice of one Jeon Jungkook. Jimin hums the tune of the song under his breath and listens to the lyrics of the song. The lyrics are like a poem. They are beautiful and they seem to connect with Jimin in ways that lyrics has never done before. Jimin smiles as the song comes to an end. He's always been a fan of BTS and their works. They're an idol boy group, but who the hell cares. You can be a guy and still like kpop. There is nothing wrong with that. BTS is a four member group that debuted a while ago. Two singers and two rappers. Jimin had gotten into them after hearing I Need U. It was a song that stuck with him during a time that he felt like falling. Ever since then, he's been an avid listener of their songs. An avid fan, if you will. The song changes to one that Jimin has loved ever since it came out, Serendipity. He's always had a soft spot for the song. The song was sung entirely by Kim Namjoon, who usually raps, but stepped out of his comfort zone with this track. These lyrics always hold a lot of depth to Jimin. He closes his eyes and listens to the raspy voice of RM. As he listens to the song, he feels a bit different. He opens his eyes as the lyrics I am your calico cat are sang. He frowns, it's different. Not in a bad way, but a good way. He couldn't say what makes it different. It just is. Jimin reaches for his phone and quickly sends a message to his group chat.

jimin do u know the song serendipity

hobi yah

jin yup, what about it

jimin does it sound different to you

hobi different...in what way

jimin i don't know just different

jin are u okay jiminie have you been getting enough sleep

jimin im fine

hobi u sure, ure not really making sense

jimin just listen to the song again....

jin okay

hobi i guess

Jimin gives them a few minutes to listen to the song. He bites his lip as he tries to determine what exactly made the song different. He's listened to it multiple times before. This time is just sounded different. Almost like it carries more weight. But, how? And in what way? His phone vibrates and Jimin picks it up.

jin i dont know what yur talking about jiminie

hobi yeah its the same song

jimin no its different

jin it really isn't jimin

hobi maybe it is...what's so different

jimin i dont know...not for sure anyway

jin yur working to much...yur making up nonsense

Jimin its not nonsense....i promise i think the song is different...I'm just sitting here and listening to the song. I just feel likes its different

jin yet u dont know what makes it different. Why did u text us all this if you dont even know what yur trying to say

jimin i dont know...thought it may help me come up with a solution

hobi did it

jimin no. Ive got nothing...the song still feels like something more. I just dont know why or how or what. I just cant pinpoint what it is. Like its special and its-

jin and its what

jimin yur going to think I'm crazy but its like its being written to someone....like its a love song to someone...

hobi dont say its you

jin if you say that it sounds like he's singing to u I'm done

jimin i wasnt going to say that.....okay maybe i was...but not in that way

hobi thats crazy jiminie

jin yah...ur not becoming one of those entitled fans who think every song is dedicated to them..right

jimin no. Who do u think i am...I'm just saying that a lot of these lyrics...i dont know why...but its like they apply to me

hobi thats not possible...u dont know bts ...do u

jimin of course not...i dont know where this is all coming from but it sort of makes sense

jin it really doesnt

jimin trust me on this one guys...i know it sounds like I'm a nut but i think the songs are about me

jin yur right i think you sound like a nut job...jimin this is ridiculous

hobi jin hyung is right there is no way that song is about u

jimin ill prove it to u what are y'all doing now

jin *sigh* I'm going to get lunch

hobi ditto

jimin come to the store...ill pay for yur meal

jin the catch being...

jimin u need to listen to the song and let me explain and maybe a few other ones if i can find evidence that they're about me

hobi jimin yur taking this a bit far..

jin Hoseok is right....its one song jimin...maybe youve been listening to it too much

jimin do u want free food or not

jin fine..ill be there in ten

hobi me too

Jimin sighs as he closes out of the messenger app and places his phone on the counter. He just needs to find more evidence. He isn't crazy, alright. This idea makes sense. Perfect sense. The lyrics a of Serendipity sound like something that would apply to him. You're my penicillium, saving me, saving me. My angel, my world. People would always say he was like an angel. He would never be compared to penicillium, but that was beside the point. Jimin sighs and picks up his phone again. He searches for another BTS song and when he finds one he clicks it. He listens to song after song, only finding more and more evidence that the songs were related to him. He continues to do this until the sound of the door opening distracts him. Jin and Hoseok walk through the door and into the convenience store. Jimin gives them a small wave and they return the gesture. They walk over to him and look at him expectantly. "What?" Jimin questions, placing his phone beside him.

"I thought you were treating us to lunch," Hoseok states.

Jimin nods, "I am...there are some instant noodles on the shelves. Just take a couple and any other snacks you want."

"Gee...thanks," Jin says, "I expected you to order some good food."

"The store has good food," Jimin replies.

Hoseok, "It's okay, Jiminie. We're thankful. Right..." He nudges Jin as he says this last part. Jin flashes Hoseok a pointed look before turning to Jimin and giving him a thankful grin. Jimin nods his head and moves to change the song playing on the loudspeaker. He changes to a different playlist filled with a bunch of BTS songs. He is ready to lay down his case. After a couple of minutes, the three friends sit around the counter slurping on noodles. Jimin places down his chopsticks as the song Save Me comes on. "You're not actually going to present your evidence to us, are you?" Jin asks, with noodles halfway in his mouth.

"Of course I am. That's why I called you here," Jimin says.

Jin sighs, "I had hope that that was just an excuse to get us to hang out with you because you're lonely."

Jimin scoffs, "I'm not that lonely. That's just pitiful."

"There's nothing wrong with wanting some company," Hoseok says, "We don't mind. We're friends after all."

"I wasn't lying when we were texting earlier. I actually think these songs are for me," Jimin says with conviction. Jin and Hoseok share a look and then both glance at Jimin with concern. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Jimin questions.

Jin sighs, "Because, you're starting to worry us. Jimin, there is no way any of those songs are dedicated to you. I think you're just feeling a bit left out or something and you're just grappling for something to hold you down."

"Why would I do that?" Jimin asks, "Do you actually think I've lost it?"

"We don't know what to think," Hoseok says, "When's the last time you went out on a date, Jiminie?"

Jimin frowns, "Tell me you don't believe that I'm just saying this because I want to be in a relationship..." His two friends give him looks that pretty much say that it's exactly what they think. Jimin groans, "C'mon, guys. I'm not joking, okay. I'm actually serious about this. I'm not just making up crap because I'm lonely. Just hear me out. At least, before you make a judgement about me." The friends look at one another before nodding their heads and waiting for Jimin to start speaking. "Okay so....these lyrics in Save Me fit my childhood. Today the moon shines brighter on the blank spot in my memories. It swallowed me, this lunatic, please save me tonight," Jimin says, "We used to play this game where someone would be kidnapped by a bad guy and the person that saved them would be a being from the moon. We would rotate our positions, but I would usually be the being from the moon." Jin and Hoseok blink a couple of times, shocked by his out there explanation. "That could just be a coincidence, Jiminie," Hoseok says, "I'm not so sure the song has anything to do with a childhood game."

"But, it could be. That's not the only song either," Jimin states, "Euphoria's lyrics, I hear the ocean from far away. Across the dream, over the horizon. I'm going to the place that's getting clearer. Take my hands now. You are the cause of my euphoria. I used to live in Busan, near the ocean. People always say my hands are perfect for holding too!!! What do you guys think it all means? Why would someone from Bangtan write a song about me?"

"I think it means that you're going crazy, Jiminie. You're honestly just connecting dots when there are no dots to connect in the first place," Jin states, "Bangtan didn't write a song about you. Euphoria and Save Me and Serendipity aren't about you."

"I'm not crazy. I'm onto something! Just listen, Blood, Sweat and Tears, RM's verse. It goes, Peaches and cream. Sweeter than sweet. Chocolate cheeks. And chocolate wings. But your wings are the devil's. There is a 'bitter' next to your 'sweet'. It matches me! Sometimes I'm sweet, but other times I can be kind of sour," Jimin explains.

"And as of this moment you're being extremely stubborn and acting like a madman," Jin states, "Let this go, Jimin. You're whole theory is ridiculous and makes zero sense."

Jimin huffs, "Let me show you one more song. They're most recent track, Boy With Luv. It's so obvious with this one. I'm curious about everything, how's your day. Oh, tell me. What makes you happy? Oh, text me. You're blind if you can't see how this one is pretty much a declaration to me."

"Or you're seeing and hearing things that aren't there," Hoseok says, "That track was written for ARMY. You're a fan, so that's why it seems like it's written for you. Because it is, but not only you. It's for all of their fans."

"No, more than that. There's an underlying message underneath it all," Jimin says, "Don't you hear it?" Both of the friends give Jimin a dumbfounded look. They couldn't believe that he is still trying to convince them of this nonsense. Jin shakes his head, "Give it up, Jimin. There's nothing different about the songs and they are most definitely not written about you, for you, or anything involving you. They're just songs. Stop this craziness. You're starting to sound like a diehard fan."

"I'm not-," Jimin starts.

Hoseok cuts him off, "We have to go. Thank you for lunch. We'll talk to you later, maybe by then you'll be over all of this..." Jimin sighs and watches as his friends gather their belongings and leave. Jimin cleans up the counter and is left all alone in the store once more. Time passes and the sun starts to set. Jimin sighs as he checks his phone. He got a message from his boss an hour ago asking him to stay for the rest of the night since his co-worker had a change of plans. He would be here for another couple of hours. He leans against the counter and stares out the window as people rush down the sidewalk. He does this for who knows how long before the sound of the door opening startles him out of his stupor. He glances at the newcomer to the store and is amazed to see who it is. It is none other than Kim Namjoon, better known as RM. Jimin gapes, not knowing what to say. What was he doing here? Was he lost? Should he ask for an autograph? Is that too much? Should he stop freaking out? Probably...most likely. "Uh, hi," RM states, "Do you mind if I hid out here for a little while?"

Jimin takes a deep breath and answers in a steady voice "Be my guest. This place doesn't usually get really busy."

"Thanks," RM says. The store falls silent and the two men avoid eye contact. It's rather awkward since neither say anything. Jimin decides to speak and make the situation less tense, "If you don't mind me asking, are you RM of BTS?"

RM nods, "Yeah...are you a fan?" Jimin nods his head a little. RM smiles, "Nice to meet you. You're not going to call the press or anything, are you?" Jimin shakes his head, shocked at question. "Great, thanks," RM says with a sigh, "I actually came here to hide out from the press. They caught me on my way to the bibimbap restaurant. My group mates wanted food and I lost rock-paper-scissors, so I went out to get it." Jimin laughs a little at the tale. "I'm sorry about that. I shouldn't have laughed," Jimin says with an apologetic glance, "We have some food here if you want. It's nothing to fancy, but it's edible."

"Don't worry about it. I'm glad I could bring a smile to your face. This place seems kinda dull, no offense," RM states, "As long as it's edible, my group mates will eat it. Honestly, the younger two would probably eat something inedible, if they were really that hungry." Jimin laughs again and gestures to the shelves stocked with snacks. RM flashes him a dimpled grin and walks towards the aisle. Jimin blushes a little and feels his heart start to race. "Calm down, Jimin. It's only RM," Jimin mutters to himself, "Who am I kidding, it's freaking RM!" RM thankfully doesn't hear him and continues to look through the shelves. "Do you have any kimchi?" RM questions.

Jimin nods, "Back fridge, RM-ssi.."

"Thanks," RM calls out, moving to the back, "Also, you can just call me Namjoon. Or Namjoon hyung."

"R-really..." Jimin says, "But, we just met..."

"Doesn't matter," Namjoon states, "You're doing me a huge favor. I'm really thankful."

"Okay, Namjoon hyung," Jimin says, testing it out with a small smile. Namjoon turns to give him a grin and a thumbs up. "I'm Park Jimin, by the way," He introduces himself.

Namjoon grins, "Nice to meet you." Jimin returns the grin and echoes Namjoon's words. The store turns silent for a moment, before Jimin decides to strike up a conversation with the idol. "Hyung...I actually have a question..." Jimin says in a quiet tone.

"Go ahead," Namjoon says, "I'll try my best to answer...." Namjoon has a couple of different items piled into his arms. Some items look like they could fall to the ground any minute. Jimin glances at him with wide eyes and shakes his head. He moves from behind the counter and goes to help out Namjoon. "We have shopping baskets, you know...." Jimin says, taking some of the items from Namjoon.

Namjoon sighs, "Well, it's too late now. I think I've got everything. What was the question?"

"Oh, um, it may be kind of personal, but what's it like being an idol?" Jimin questions.

Namjoon smiles as he approaches the counter with his items, "It's fun, stressful, but more often than not really enjoyable. It has its ups and downs, but I'm living out my dream. What more could I ask for." Jimin nods his head at the older's words. "What about you? Are you living out your dream?" Namjoon asks.

Jimin snorts, "Yup, my wonderful, life-long dream of being a cash register clerk." Namjoon laughs at his comment and gives him another smile. "I kind of gave up on my dream. I was going for it and then life just happened and here I am. I guess I should be grateful though, I have a paying job and all," Jimin says.

"But, it's not your dream," Namjoon states.

Jimin nods, "Bingo. I wanted to be a dancer, but that clearly didn't happen."

"Why not go for it now?" Namjoon asks.

Jimin shrugs, "I don't know. I guess I'm just not ready for that change."

Namjoon nods, "I get that. Life is just full of hurdles and we're rarely ever ready for them. More often than not we trip over them as we try to jump, but we always get back up and try to leap over it again."

Jimin gapes, "Wow...you really do have a way with words...." Namjoon chuckles at his comment. Jimin flushes, a tad bit embarrassed. Jimin quickly explains himself, "I'm a fan, so I know a lot of your songs and your lyrics. I know you write a lot of them and they're really good."

Namjoon smiles, "Thank you. I'm glad you like my songs." Jimin flashes him his own smile, which slowly turns into a frown. He thinks back to the way his friends commented on his belief about the songs being based off of him. Maybe, he was just making things up. Maybe, he was just feeling lonely. Namjoon frowns when he sees Jimin's change of expression. "Are you okay?" Namjoon questions with worry.

Jimin nods, "Yeah...it's just something stupid..."

"Tell me. I promise I won't judge you," Namjoon states. For some reason, Jimin does just that. He tells him about how he believed BTS's songs meant more to him than he first thought. He tells him how he told his friends and how they had thought he had lost it. When he finished rehashing all the events of the day, Namjoon let out a sigh. "Well, I'll say this. Your friends are wrong about you being crazy. All the songs I write, they're always written with a certain person in mind. A lot of the time, it's about our fans. That's probably why you feel a connection with the songs," Namjoon states, "Every lyric I write, I hope it can connect to someone in some way. Maybe it's a silly lyric like I need you, but if it touches you in any way that means I did my job. If that song touches you, than it's for you. It's your song because I wrote it to be something special for everyone. Do you get what a mean?" Jimin nods his head, feeling a little better with the leader's words. The two continue to talk as time passes by. They don't even notice how long it has been before Namjoon's phone goes off. He glances at the screen and lets out a sigh. "Tae is getting antsy and Jungkook won't stop complaining. Suga hyung is losing it. I guess this is my cue to leave. I didn't even realize I was gone for so long," Namjoon says, picking up the bags of his items.

Jimin nods, "Yeah, it was really nice speaking with you. You're a really easy person to get along with."

"You too," Namjoon says, walking towards the door, "Thank you again for letting me stay here for a little." Jimin nods and wave at him. Namjoon places his hand on the door and is about to push, but turns to face Jimin. "I wasn't going to tell you this, but I just feel like I should. When we were talking earlier, you said that you felt like the songs were written to you. Well, I write a lot of my songs with one specific person on my mind. A boy that I used to spend time with whenever I visited my aunt and uncle in Busan," Namjoon states, looking Jimin in the eye. Jimin frowns, a little disappointed at what Namjoon had just said. He is also a tad bit confused why he would even bother telling him this. He flashes Namjoon a confused expression and the man just laughs. "I guess you don't remember me than. That's okay, it has been a while since we last seen each other," Namjoon says, "It was nice talking to you again, Chim." With that, the idol left the store. Jimin stares at the door still dumbfounded. What did he mean by that? He didn't remember him? What? Jimin's brow furrows as he tries to come up with a plausible explanation. Suddenly, it comes to him. Chim. Namjoon called him Chim. He hasn't had that nickname since he was a little kid in Busan. Only one person called him that, his neighbor's nephew. A boy by the name of Kim Namjoon. Jimin lets out a breath as things start to click into place. He's the one the songs are dedicated to. He's the one that Namjoon was referring to, the Busan boy. It was him. Jimin smiles, realizing something else equally as important, "Ha! I'm not crazy! Take that Jin hyung and Hobi hyung! I was right! BTS's songs are dedicated to me! To me!!! Not to just any ARMY! Me!!!!!" A couple walks into the store just as Jimin shouts his final me. They stare at him and Jimin flashes them a sheepish smile.

The end! This took a lot longer to write than I thought. Wooooo, I'm tired. I hope you all liked this one-shot. I think it's really cute and sweet. Please comment, vote, follow me, and add this strong to your library. I will see you for the final day of Minjoon one-shot week tomorrow.
