See You a Thousand Times
Hello, Moonfaries. Yes, I am back with another Minjoon romance one-shot. I'll be honest with you, I actually didn't have this one planned out. It came to me on a whim, thanks to the lovely members of the MJC on ARA. You should definitely join our club on Amino if you love Minjoon. Anyway, with that said, this one-shot was inspired off of the picture I included above. It's based off of the movie 50 First Dates. It will be a bit bitter sweet, so I hope you enjoy it. Let's get into the story.
Jimin can remember the first day he met Namjoon. He went to the park on a whim. He just felt like he wanted to get out of the house. It was quiet and a little chilly outside. There wasn't anyone else at the park, so he was enjoying a pretty peaceful walk. He had faintly heard the sounds of water and followed it like it was from Pied Piper's pipe. As he got closer, the sound got louder, drawing him in. He walked over a hill and eventually the lake came into view. It wasn't fairly large and there were large blackish-gray rocks lining the shore. Sitting on one of the rocks was a man. He wore a green coat and his hair was dyed blond. Jimin took a step forward and his foot hit a dead leaf. The crunch it made echoed and the man turned to look behind him. Jimin locked eyes with the man. It felt as if time had frozen. It was as if it were only the two of them in the entire world. Jimin was entranced. It was like this man was a siren and he was dragging Jimin to him. Jimin shook his head, breaking the gaze from the man. He was about to turn away, but something made him stop. That day, he had walked straight to where that man sat and flashed him a friendly smile. He told him a joke and the man returned it with equal banter. Jimin was in a giggling fit instantly and it was joined by the tinkling bells of the man's own laughter. They had introduced themselves to one another and it was then that Jimin knew Kim Namjoon was special. They stayed there for hours talking about every little thing. Their favorite color or why the stars in the sky shined. Time passed quicker than either of them had expected. It was late afternoon when Namjoon said that he had to get home. They had exchanged phone numbers and both promised to meet back here tomorrow. Jimin had went back home with the largest smile on his face. Taehyung had thought he lost it and to be honest Jimin had. Namjoon was something special. He really was.

That was over two weeks ago, Jimin smiles as he walks down the hill, remembering the first time he did this. Namjoon and he have been meeting up every day since then. It's been crazy. Unreal. A tale from a storybook. Jimin's never been a diehard romantic. He's never believed in love at first sight. But, that's what it was. It was like everything was perfect the second they laid eyes on each other. Yes, it's cheesy. And yes, maybe a tad bit unbelievable. But, it's all true. Jimin has never felt this way before about anyone. Namjoon is different. Namjoon is...there are no words to explain him. He's the sky and the moon. He's the galaxy and the people. He's the heart and the soul. He's Kim Namjoon. Jimin smiles as he spots Namjoon, sitting on the rock with his green jacket snugly on. He quietly makes his way over and stands there for a second. Just watching Namjoon. The older has his eyes closed and a peaceful smile on his face. His dimples peek out just a little bit and it makes Jimin's heart race. Namjoon breathes in the fresh air and lets it out before opening his eyes. Jimin smiles and moves so he stand right beside Namjoon, "What are you thinking about?"
Namjoon's eyes widen and his head whips to the right, "Oh, I didn't even notice you there..."
"I'm sorry, did I scare you?" Jimin asks.
"Oh, no, not at all," Namjoon says, "As to your question...nothing..." He laughs a little and flashes Jimin a grin. "It's kinda silly, but I'm really not thinking of anything. My mind is empty and clear and at peace," Namjoon says.
"That sounds really nice," Jimin replies.
"It is," Namjoon nods, "Oh, I'm so sorry...I've been so rude. I never introduced myself. My name is Kim Namjoon." The man sticks his hand out and Jimin takes it. Jimin shakes it and lets his touch linger for a second, which Namjoon doesn't notice. "Nice to meet you, I'm Park Jimin," Jimin says with a smile. He had hoped by some miracle, it wouldn't happen again. This wouldn't happen again. He wouldn't have to go through this, but here he is. You don't deserve any of this. Namjoon is everything. He's the best of the world. But, the best always seem to suffer the most.

Jimin found out the day after he had first met Namjoon. He had went up and tried to continue the conversation they had had the day before. I didn't go well because Namjoon instantly flashed him a confused expression. He had said that Jimin must have thought he was someone else. Jimin disagreed and proved it by saying Namjoon's name. That was not the wisest decision as Namjoon had taken off running. Jimin stood there dumbfounded. It wasn't until the park ranger came over to him, did things start to make a bit more sense. The ranger's name was Yoongi and he happened to be good friends with Namjoon. He told him that exactly a year ago Namjoon got in a serious motorcycle accident on his birthday. It left him with anterograde amnesia, which prevents him from forming new memories. Namjoon wakes up every morning thinking it is Saturday, September 12th, a year ago. Jimin was in shock. He fired questions at Yoongi, who answered them, albeit a bit begrudgingly. Jimin found out a lot. How Namjoon has no idea what's really going on. How he has no idea he's living the same day again and again. Because, his brothers have it set up that way. They don't want him to be hurt and have to relieve the terrible accident. So, they pretend. They pretend it's Namjoon's birthday every day. And they don't plan on giving up on their ruse. Jimin frowned, not liking it. The way Namjoon's family are dealing with this situation, but he doesn't have much say in it. He had just met Namjoon the day before. Not like Namjoon remembered that anyway anyway. The last thing Yoongi told him before walking away was to stay away from Namjoon. It would be better for the both of them if they didn't interact. Jimin was never part of Namjoon's day. He can't be now. Things need to stay the way they are. Jimin tried to protest, but Yoongi was firm. And that was that. But, of course, Jimin came back. He came back and he introduced himself to Namjoon every day. He made himself a constant in Namjoon's life, even if the man couldn't remember the next day. He didn't care. He wanted to spend time with Namjoon. That didn't change even though he can't remember him. Jimin remembers. Jimin knows. And each day, Jimin thinks he falls a bit more for Namjoon. He doesn't care that the older doesn't remember. His feelings are still there. He will pursue Namjoon for as long as he can. And maybe, just maybe, one day, Namjoon will remember him. Maybe, he'll go to the park and Namjoon will recognize him. His face would light up and that beautiful smile of his will appear. He'll rush over and wrap Jimin in a hug. They'll walk around the park or go to an amusement park. They'll stay up all night long and create more memories. So much so that Namjoon will be able to recognize him the next day. And the day after that. But, that's all just wishful thinking. Cause Namjoon may never remember. He probably won't ever remember

And if he were to. It wouldn't be today. It's alright. Jimin is fine with having a first meeting Namjoon for the ninth time now. It's always a little different, but each time is just as special. Jimin likes to think of them as dates with the other. It's the closest he'll get to a relationship with Namjoon. And Jimin's fine with it. As long as he gets to spend time with Namjoon. "Do you mind if I sit here?" Jimin asks, tapping on the rock beside the one Namjoon is perched on.
Namjoon shakes his head, "Go right ahead, Jimin."
"Thanks," Jimin says while swinging his legs over the rock and climbing on top of it. He lets out a sigh and stares at the somewhat cloudy sky. It's a somber color. Almost as if it's hinting at the feeling of sadness bound to come. "It's pretty, don't you think?" Namjoon says, staring up at the sky.
"It's cloudy...it's prettier when the sun is out," Jimin replies.
Namjoon shakes his head, "No. I think it's pretty now. I like the color. Gray. I think it's different. People don't see it as such, but I think it's cool. It's not black or white. It's right in the middle. It's not pure and hopeful. It's not dark and scary. It's just gray. It's a timeless color. It's special." Like you. Jimin nods his head at Namjoon's words, the man always says things that rock his world. That make him look at things from a different angle. It's like his mind has been opened up just by spending time with Namjoon. "Well, I like the color blue," Jimin says.
Namjoon laughs, "That's a good color too."
"Yeah, I guess. It's nothing like gray, but I think blue is a pretty good color," Jimin replies, happy that he made the other laugh.
Namjoon grins, "Hey, Jimin. Not to intrude or anything, but do you live around here? I come to this park pretty often and I've never seen you around."
"You're not intruding at all. Ask all you want," Jimin says, "I've actually just started coming to the park recently. It's a pretty cool place. I guess you could say I was kind of drawn to it."
"Really? Same!" Namjoon exclaims, "I've come to this park multiple times before when I was a kid, but I found this place a couple of days ago. It's like a secret little area. People rarely come down here. That's why I was surprised when you came."
"Ah, well, I discovered your secret place," Jimin says, "Sorry about that."
"Don't be. I think it was meant to be. Someone was bound to find it eventually," Namjoon says, "I'm glad it was you. You're really nice..."
"So are you," Jimin says with a smile, "Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," Namjoon says.
"What do you do here?" Jimin asks, "Do you just sit here and empty your mind?"
"Sometimes. Other times I come here for inspiration. I write songs for a living. Coming here helps me come up with lyrics," Namjoon answers.
"You're a songwriter?" Jimin asks, "That's cool. Can I hear one of your songs?"
"Uh...I guess. I'm really not much of a singer," Namjoon answers.
Jimin shakes his head, "Doubtful. C'mon, let me hear something." Namjoon blushes and covers his face in embarrassment. He avoids eye contact with Jimin and starts to sing quietly. Jimin holds his breath as he listens to Namjoon's deep, raspy voice. It's the same song Namjoon sang a couple of days ago. But, it's like Jimin is hearing it for the first time. It's a special song. It's a beautiful song. It's unlike anything Jimin has ever heard. I know I love you. Do you know? No...you don't. Because you forget. You always forget. Namjoon finishes up and slowly lowers his hands from his face. His cheeks are flushed and he looks to Jimin expectantly. Jimin beams and claps his hands enthusiastically, "That was beautiful! The lyrics are so heartfelt and sweet. And, your voice was great! You said you couldn't sing. You lied. Your voice is beautiful."
Namjoon turns an even deeper shade of red, "I really can't. My little brother is more of a singer than me."
"You have a little brother?" Jimin questions.
Namjoon nods, "And an older brother. Jin hyung and Jungkookie. It's just the three of us. What about you? Any siblings?"
"Nope," Jimin says with a shake of his head, "I'm an only child. Must be fun though. Having siblings. What's it like?"
Namjoon shrugs, "Crazy. I don't know. I love them, but sometimes they're weird. Kinda like today. They were being extremely overprotective this morning. Even Jungkook. Which makes zero sense cause he's younger than me."
Jimin laughs nervously, "Ah, it must be nice though. Knowing that they will always have your back."
"Yeah, I don't know where I would be without them," Namjoon says with a smile, "They mean the world to me."
"That's sweet," Jimin states. The two continue to talk and Jimin can't help but feel a bit bittersweet over the whole situation. He knows that time will pass and their time together will end. He'll go through this all again. Jimin bites his lower lip. He's never once regretted coming back. He would do it a billion of times. He will continue to do it. He knows that he can just not come tomorrow and Namjoon would never notice the difference. But, that's never been something Jimin would do. It's never been an option. Jimin will return tomorrow and the day after and the day after that. Because he truly cares for Namjoon. He would never just not show up. Not if he can help it. Not if there is a chance that one day their connection between the two of them is strong enough for Namjoon to remember him. Because they do have a connection. Jimin knows it. Namjoon glances down at his watch and his eyes widen. Jimin sighs, knowing that it's time for the day to end. It's time for Namjoon to go back home. "I need to go," Namjoon says, "It was really nice meeting you and talking to you."
Jimin pouts, "It was nice meeting you too, but do you really need to go?"
"Yup, sorry. It's actually my birthday today. My brothers said they have a big surprise for me waiting at home," Namjoon says.
"Ah, well, happy birthday!" Jimin says with a smile, "If I had known, I would've treated you to a nice lunch."
"Oh, don't worry about it. It's not that big of a deal," Namjoon asnwers.
Jimin scoffs, "Of course, it's a big deal. It's your birthday. You only turn...."
"Twenty-five," Namjoon finishes.
Jimin nods, "You only turn twenty-five once. How about this? Why don't we meet back up here tomorrow? I'll take you out for a belated birthday meal. That is if you want."
"Sure!" Namjoon exclaims, "That sounds like loads of fun. I'll see you tomorrow." He slowly stands from where he sits and starts to walk away. He walks backwards for a little, flashing Jimin a smile. Namjoon's eyes widen as his foot hits a bump on the sidewalk and he stumbles. He, thankfully, is able to regain his balance. He flashes Jimin a sheepish look, who chuckles at the clumsy young man. He waves his hand to say goodbye before turning around and walking normally. Jimin tilts his head to watch Namjoon's retreating form. He lets out a sigh as a weird feeling builds in his chest. Jimin makes a fist and places it where his heart is. I'll see you tomorrow, Namjoon. And the day after that. Cause I will always come back. A thousand times if I have to. I could meet you again every single day for a million years and never get tired of it. I could never get sick of it. I could never get sick of you.
