Protector
We are back with another one-shot! It's been a long while since I updated here. This one is for Taegi week on ARA. It's pretty much a platonic ship story, so that's why it's here instead of in my romance one-shots book. That's how I've chosen to separate my kpop themed one-shots as of now. The years are taken of of their current ages in real life. Anyway, let's get into it.
(Side Note: This is one of the one-shots that I have moved from my Kpop one-shot book as I consider it to be a bromance story=a sub-category to romance stories. If you recognize it, it's because you may have already read it before. Please give it love in this book as well)
This is the story of the Avatar.
No...not the blue people.
The benders of the four elements.
Each person is capable of bending one of the four elements, depending on which nation they originate from. Of these nations, there are the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation.
The Avatar is different from the rest of the benders. They have the ability to control and manipulate all four of the elements.
When the current one passes away, they go through the reincarnation cycle. The Avatar is born again each generation.
Throughout time, many incarnations of the Avatar have kept the four nations in harmony and maintain world peace and order. The Avatar also is a bridge between the physical world and the Spirit World, allowing him or her to solve problems that normal benders cannot.
This is the story of the Avatar...
Not of Aang.
Or Korra.
But a new Avatar.
One that hasn't had it easy.
But, has someone to help him out.

Taehyung grunts as he runs right into the tree. "Oof..." He says as his bottom collides with the ground. Suddenly, a shadow looms over the young boy. Taehyung stiffens and looks up. "Why are you running?" A hefty kid says loudly, "You're supposed to be powerful...that's what my Mama says. But, you're just a weirdo..."
"I'm not weird," Taehyung mutters, standing up slowly. The boy scoffs and pushes Taehyung on the chest. Taehyung stumbles backward and his back hits the tree. He winces a little. The boy scoffs, "You're not strong at all. I can't believe they think you're the Avatar. I'm stronger than you are. I've never seen you even use you're bender abilities. I bet that your parents just lied about you being the Avatar. They're just so ashamed that you're a non-bender." Taehyung frowns, not even that much bothered by the harsh words said about him. He is though, getting rather ticked off by the fact that the kid is accusing his parents of lying. "You're liar...not mommy or daddy..." Taehyung says with a huff.
The boy scoffs, "Yeah, right. If you're really the Avatar, how come you're not training? How come we haven't seen you use any of your bender abilities? I haven't even seen you bend Earth. We live in the earth nation and you can't even control your home's natural element. That's pathetic." Taehyung crosses his arms and gives the older boy a dirty look. "Why are you looking at me like that, weirdo?" The boy asks and kicks him hard at the knee. Taehyung gasps and his legs go out from under him. He cries out a little as he slides along the floor and his knees get skinned. As he hits the floor, he kicks up some dirt and it shoots onto the other boy's shoes. The boy scowls and rubs his shoe against Taehyung's shirt. "You're so annoying. Look at what you did, you weirdo..." The boy says, "What's your parents going to think? There's no way someone as clumsy and weak as you are the Avatar." Taehyung whimpers a little as a little bit of blood trickles down his knees. Taehyung pushes himself off the ground and stares at his scratched up knees. "Nothing to say?" The other boy taunts.
Taehyung looks at him with teary eyes and shakes his head, "I don't talk to meanies..."
"Weirdo," The boy says, "I should show everyone in town how weak you are. Then, they'll see that you aren't the Avatar." The boy smirks and starts to use his earthbender abilities to rise a chunk of rock from the ground. He sticks his arms out aiming for Taehyung. The younger boy flinches and squeezes his eyes shut. Suddenly, there's a loud grating sound and a boom. Taehyung slowly opens his eyes again and blinks a couple of times when he sees what is in front of him. There is a small wall of earth shielding him and it's clear that the piece of rock from before slammed right into it. The large boy lets out an annoyed yell, "What the heck?! Who did that?"
"Me," Yoongi states as he walks out from behind a tree.
"Yoongi..." Taehyung says with wide eyes.
Yoongi sighs, "TaeTae...how many times have I told you that you can't just run off without telling anyone."
"Sorry," Taehyung mumbles with a pout.
Yoongi nods, "It's okay...just try not to do it all the time. Why were you out here anyway?"
"I wanted to practice my waterbending," Taehyung states, "I wanted to practice moving itty bitty water..."
"He was lying in the grass like some weirdo," The other boy states.
"I'm not a weirdo. I was trying to move the dew on the grass..." Taehyung says.
Yoongi sighs, "Next time, wait for me and I'll come with you. And you, stop calling him a weirdo.
"I can call him whatever I want," The boy states, "Who do you think you are anyway?"
"I'm the Avatar's protector," Yoongi states, "And that means that I get to slap you across the face, and not face the consequences." The pale boy makes his way over to the bully and slaps him right on the cheek. The bully shrieks and holds his hand up to his face. "Hey!" The boy exclaims, "You're going to get in lots of trouble! My momma is gonna be mad!" The bully runs off while screaming for his mother. Yoongi shakes his head and makes his way over to Taehyung. "C'mon TaeTae...let's get you cleaned up," Yoongi states, "Are you okay?"
"I'm okay, Yoongi," Taehyung replies, "Thank you for saving me."
"You don't need to thank me," Yoongi says, "I'll always save you."

"Okay, explain to me why we're hiding behind a basket of apples," Yoongi says in a deadpan voice.
Taehyung gives him a sheepish grin, "You know how I've been trying to learn how to firebend..."
"Yeah..." Yoongi continues. Suddenly, there's a loud boom and a huge man comes stomping down the street. Taehyung shrinks in on himself and Yoongi looks at him with one of those you got to be kidding me faces. "What did you do to that guy?" Yoongi asks.
"Well...I may or may not have shot a fireball at his...uh...house...." Taehyung says.
"Taehyung!" Yoongi exclaims. Taehyung's eyes widen and he covers Yoongi's mouth with his hand. "Shush! He's going to find us!!!" Taehyung says in an urgent whisper, "I didn't mean to do it, Yoongi! It was a total accident."
"Take your sweaty hand off my mouth," Yoongi says in a muffled tone. Taehyung quickly retracts his hand and gives Yoongi another sheepish smile. "I thought you were aiming at the targets," Yoongi states.
"I was..." Taehyung says, "But, when I fired that last on it didn't go near the target at all..."
"Clearly," Yoongi states, glancing at the still angry man, "You need to work on your aim. Also, why did you have to drag me into this?"
Taehyung frowns, "I don't know. I was scared and you were the first person I thought of that would be able to help me out." Yoongi sighs and groans a little. "Sorry, Yoongi..." Taehyung mutters.
"It's fine," Yoongi states, "I just can't believe you sometimes. You're the Avatar. You're supposed to bring peace, not cause disasters..."
"I'm still training," Taehyung says.
Yoongi nods, "Yes, yes, I know."
"What are we going to do?" Taehyung asks.
Yoongi looks around, "Well, we can't hide here forever..." Suddenly, the shadow of the man passes by them. Taehyung shifts closer to Yoongi as the huge man moves closer to where they are hiding. Yoongi grabs onto Taehyung's hand and gives it a gentle squeeze. He can feel Taehyung start to get increasingly worried and scared. He couldn't offer much comfort aside from this. Both boys try to keep as quiet as possible. This doesn't help them at all, as the man spots the two boys. "There you are!" The man exclaims, "What's a firebender doing in the Earth Nation?! You're going to pay for ruining my home!" The man grabs Taehyung by the neck of his shirt. Taehyung squeals as he's lifted from the ground. Yoongi's eyes widen as he watches his friend being picked up like he's a feather. The man glowers at Taehyung, who gives him a sheepish wave. "Please don't hurt him, sir!" Yoongi exclaims. The man doesn't even glance at Yoongi, his eyes remain trained on his prey. "Why not? He's a firebender in the Earth Nation. You know what happened last time we just allowed firebenders to have full range of everything," The man huffs.
"Sir, he isn't a firebender," Yoongi states, "And, what he did was an accident."
"I saw him shoot a ball of fire ball out of his hand! What are you trying to pull on me kid?" The man questions, "Don't try to defend your friend."
"I'm telling the truth, sir. My friend is the Avatar. That's why he can control fire," Yoongi explains. The man scoffs, as if he doesn't believe a word coming from Yoongi's mouth. "Please, sir, put him down and he'll show you," Yoongi says as calmly as possible. The man frowns, but eventually lowers Taehyung to the ground. Taehyung lets out a sigh of relief and quickly moves to hide behind Yoongi. "TaeTae...show the man who you are," Yoongi whispers.
"Yoongi...he's still going to hurt me even if I am the Avatar..." Taehyung murmurs.
"He may not," Yoongi says back to him, "Just do it Tae. If he does attack you, I'll think of something to get you away and safe." Taehyung hesitates for a minute, but eventually relents. He takes a step away from Yoongi and lifts up his hand. He forms a fireball calmly, before quickly dispersing it, afraid of destroying something else. Taehyung glances around and when he spots a puddle he uses his waterbending ability to create the shape of a flower. He lets it fall and focuses on the ground. Taehyung lifts three medium sized chunks of earth from the ground with ease. The man stares in awe, not believing that these two kids were telling the truth. Taehyung lowers the chunks back to the ground and quickly moves to hide behind Yoongi again. "I-I'm sorry..." Taehyung says, "I didn't mean to burn down your home. I was just trying to practice my firebending.
The man sighs, "It's okay, kid. I know you didn't mean it. I guess I'll just have to talk to the tribe leader about fixing my home...I'm sorry for chasing you..." The man waves to the kids before turning around and walking back the direction he came from. When he has faded from view, Taehyung lets out a sigh of relief. "See...I told you he wouldn't be that mad," Yoongi says, "You're special, Tae..."
"You're special, Yoongi," Taehyung states, "I wouldn't have been able to get out of that without you..."
"Yeah, yeah..." Yoongi says with a wave of his hand, "C'mon...let's go tell your parents what happened..."

"I was so close, Yoongi!" Taehyung exclaims, "You should've seen it! I almost airbended!
Yoongi nods, "I'm sure you did, Taehyung. Eventually, you'll be able to get all the elements down and be the best Avatar you could possibly be."
"Do you think I'll be a good Avatar?" Taehyung asks.
Yoongi nods his head, "You'll be an amazing Avatar, Taehyung. I know you will. You're already so far along in your training. You're a great earthbender and water bender. You've improved so much in firebending. You're already so strong and powerful. Soon enough, you won't need me to protect you anymore." Taehyung gasps and suddenly launches onto Yoongi. He wraps his arms around him and squeezes him. Yoongi coughs and hits his arm, "What's wrong with you?! You can't just throw yourself on me! You're not that little anymore, Taehyung."
"You can't leave me," Taehyung states, "Even when I learn airbending, I'm still going to need you. So, don't go away once I learn. Stay with me and continue to protect me. I need you, Yoongi!!! You know that people are always trying to attack the Avatar. I need you to watch my back...please don't go!!!!"
"Aish...you're such a little kid sometimes," Yoongi mutters with a roll of his eyes, "Of course, I'm not going to leave you. You make it seem like I'm going to ditch you. You're my closest friend Taehyung, I would never do that to you." Taehyung smiles and squeezes Yoongi again. The older groans and taps Taehyung's arms, "Let go of me, you big oaf..." Taehyung releases the boy and laughs. Yoongi rolls his eyes as the two continue to walk down the park pathway. Suddenly, there's a loud wizzing sound and Yoongi looks to the left with wide eyes. He quickly pushes Taehyung to the ground, who hits the floor with an oof. That sound comes from an arrow that hits Yoongi right in the shoulder, making the boy fall to the ground. "Yoongi!" Taehyung exclaims. There's footsteps coming from the far left, but Taehyung doesn't put much attention to it. He rushes to his friend's side, "Yoongi...are you okay? Why did you push me? That arrow was going to hit me..."
"I'm fine, Tae. That's exactly why I pushed you," Yoongi scoffs and winces a little, "Did you really think I was going to let that arrow hit you?"
"You should've...now you're hurt," Taehyung says with worry. The footsteps come from a group of men training with bows and arrows. The leader huffs as they see the young man on the ground, "I told them that they put the training field too close to the park! Can I get medics here please!?"
"How could you have let that happen?" Taehyung exclaims, moving to stand up. His hands are clenched into fists and they quiver a little with anger. Yoongi grabs onto his wrist, stopping him. "Taehyung, stop. I'm fine. It was an accident. Don't attack anyone. I'm okay," Yoongi says.
"But..." Taehyung starts. Yoongi shakes his head and gives him a look. Taehyung sighs and gets back onto the ground. Soon enough, medics come rushing into the park. Thankfully, the wound inflicted by the arrow wasn't life-endangering. Yoongi is tended to and told that he should be back to normal after a couple of weeks. Taehyung remains by his side the entire time, worried about his friend. "Stop freaking out," Yoongi states, "You're more worried than I am. I was the one that got shot."
"It was supposed to be me..." Taehyung says, "You got hurt because of me..."
"Not because of you, Tae," Yoongi says, "You didn't shoot me..."
"But, the arrow was going to hit me..." Taehyung mutters, "Why did you push me?"
Yoongi sighs, "C'mon, Tae. I protect you, remember. If that means I get hurt, so be it. I'm going to protect you whenever and wherever. Tomorrow and 50 years from now. I'm always going to protect you."

"Are you sure this is a good idea, Taehyung?" Yoongi questions as they stop at the top of a large mountain.
Taehyung nods and sits on the ground, "Yes, it needs to be here. I'm closest to the sky and the air. It will help me get in touch with my past selves and enter my Avatar State."
"Okay, but why did it have to be this mountain?" Yoongi asks, "We're really far from the town. More people know that you're the Avatar now. They recognize you and there are a couple of people that want to harm you."
"I need to be completely focused to enter the Avatar State by my own will," Taehyung says, "I can't deal with people possibly distracting me or it's not going to work..."
"Then, why am I here?" Yoongi asks another question, "I think I count as a distraction.
Taehyung sighs and he closes his eyes, "You know the answer to that. I feel safer with you. I haven't done this before and I honestly don't know what's going to happen..."
"Fine," Yoongi says, "I'll stop asking you questions. Do your Avatar thing." Taehyung smiles and takes a deep breath, putting his entire focus into entering the Avatar State. Yoongi plops onto the ground as well, glancing up at the sky. Every so often, he takes a peek at Taehyung, who seems to not have changed since he had sat down. Yoongi looks at Taehyung a bit closer, trying to see if he's entering the Avatar State. In the end, he gives up, unable to identify what is happening with the younger man. Yoongi sighs and stares back up at the sky. He enjoys the silence and lets the calm breeze ruffle his hair. This peace is broken when he hears voices. Yoongi frowns and slowly gets to his feet. He looks around and spots a group of five coming up the mountain. He strains to hear what they're saying, trying to determine if they were a danger or were just tourists. "He's supposed to be up here..." One of the people says in a gruff tone, "Someone said they spotted him leave the town alone." Yoongi scoffs, Taehyung isn't alone. That false piece of information will be this group's source of failure. "Are you sure he's here?" Another one asks.
The person nods, "Positive. C'mon, let's find him, deal with him, and collect our bounty." Yoongi grimaces, bounty hunters. He had to get Taehyung and they need to get the heck out of here. Yoongi scrambles over to Taehyung's side and nudges him. "Taehyung, we need to go," Yoongi says in an urgent voice, "There are bounty hunters. Five of them. We would be outnumbered, we can't fight them. You need to snap out of this and we need to run." Taehyung doesn't answer, his eyes still sealed shut. "Taehyung!!!" Yoongi exclaims, "This isn't a joke! We could be in danger. Taehyung!" The younger man doesn't answer and Yoongi groans. He has no idea whether Taehyung is joking or he is so deep in his own mind that he can't even hear Yoongi. The older man sighs and gets back to his feet. He could run and be far away before the bounty hunters even reached the top of the mountain. Except, he would never do such a thing. He can't leave Taehyung. He would never leave Taehyung. He has to protect him. Even though, he isn't sure how much protection he will be able to provide. Yoongi huffs and moves to stand right in front of his younger friend. His hands are clenched into fists and his gaze stays in the direction that the men are coming from. Soon enough, the men arrive and are shocked to see a very angry young man glaring at them. "Is this the Avatar?" One of the men ask.
The other shakes his head, "No, you idiot, didn't you look at the files! The one behind him is the Avatar!"
"Then, who is he?" The man questions.
"I thought the Avatar was alone..." The man says, "It was supposed to be an easy mission."
"Will you all shut up!?" The leader yells, "It doesn't matter if he's alone or not. We still outnumber them. Not to mention, the Avatar seems to be in a weird state of mind." The men all look at Taehyung, who is still on the ground with his eyes sealed shut. "Okay, so all we need to do is take care of this weakling and then the Avatar is a good as dead," The man states.
The leader smirks, "Bingo." Yoongi huffs and looks at them with fire in his eyes. Like hell he's going to let them lay a hand on Taehyung. "Who are you calling weak?" Yoongi asks, "I'm with the Avatar for a reason. I'm strong enough to protect him. So, if you idiots want to hurt him, you'll have to go through me first." The men roll their eyes, not believing anything the pale man said. The group all start to use their bender abilities, each one a waterbender. Yoongi huffs and rips chunks of earth from the ground. The men quickly form shields as Yoongi tosses the chunks in their direction. The rocks slam into the shields and break upon impact. A couple of the bounty hunters wince from the hard blows. Yoongi keeps on attacking, making sure to dodge the shots fired at him by the waterbenders. He tosses large and small pieces at the men, hitting them every so often. It doesn't seem to be doing much though. The bounty hunters and Yoongi continue to go at it. Yoongi winces as a water shuriken flies by his face and lands close to where Taehyung is sitting. He can't hold back anymore, he needs to go all out or else these men's shots are actually going to hit. Yoongi lets out a guttural yell and stomps hard on the ground. This causes a ripple effect that continues to move until it hits the men. Rocks shoot from the ground and rain down onto the men. They yell out as they trip and fall to the ground. A couple of them try to fight back, but their shots are way off target. Yoongi stomps on the ground again and tall pillars rise from the ground. They lift the five men into the air. Yoongi clenches his fist and the pillars fall. The men fall through the air and hit the floor in a matter of seconds. They all groan as they collide with the hard mountain ground. Yoongi lets out a sigh and lowers his hands to his sides. He hesitates for a minute, but after seeing that the men aren't getting back up, he goes to Taehyung's side. The younger is still in the trance and doesn't even seem to have noticed the battle that had just happened seconds ago. Yoongi sighs and brushes a piece of Taehyung's hair that has fallen onto his eyes. As he does this, Taehyung's eyes shoot open. Yoongi jumps as Taehyung lets out a loud groan, "I was so close, hyung! I was like right there! It's soooooo hard to get into the Avatar State by your own will!!! Urg...I don't know what to do now! How am I supposed to learn how to airbend? I need to learn to become the Avatar!" Yoongi blinks a couple of times, surprised by Taehyung's loudness. "Yoongiiiiii! Why are you looking at me like that? Why are you sweating?" Taehyung asks, before noticing the other five men lying on the ground, "What happened? Who are they?"
Yoongi sighs and massages his temples, "Some friends that saw us leave the town."
"Oh," Taehyung says, realizing that they were trying to kill him, "You saved me again, even though you could've ran. Thank you, Yoongi."
"Did you actually think I was going to ditch you?" Yoongi rolls his eyes, "Stop thanking me, kid. I'm always going to save you, you know that."
"Yeah...I guess I just like hearing you say it," Taehyung says with a grin, "It makes me feel safe, knowing you're here..." Yoongi rolls his eyes, but flashes Taehyung a fond smile.

Present Time
"Run faster, Yoongi!!!" Taehyung yells as he dodges a fireball aimed at his head.
Yoongi groans, "Not all of us enjoy cardio!" The older man is falling behind a tad bit and the firebender soldiers seem to be closing in on him. Taehyung looks back every so often, grimacing when he sees how close they are to his friend. "Yoongi!" Taehyung yells.
"I'm going as fast as I can!" Yoongi calls back, "Yelling at me isn't going to make me a faster runner!" Taehyung huffs and glances back once more. The soldiers are getting closer. To be honest, he has no idea why they're chasing him. Something about an age-old vendetta with the Avatar. He didn't understand it, but it is the reason he's running now. Taehyung sighs and uses his earthbender abilities to create a wall and block the soldiers. Luckily, it works and the two young men take off. Eventually, they arrive at an abandoned building and take refuge inside. Both boys breathe heavily and lean against the wall for support. "Good thinking with that wall, Tae," Yoongi says, "I would've gotten caught if it wasn't for you."
"Thanks..." Taehyung says, "I'm sorry about the whole chasing thing. I had no idea that the firebenders would hate me so much."
"No one knew," Yoongi says, "It's alright, maybe, that chase helped them get it out of their system." Taehyung sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "I'm so tired, Yoongi," Taehyung says, "Why did I have to be the Avatar? I already feel inadequate compared to the other Avatars. I don't know why it's me instead of someone like you..."
Yoongi scoffs, "You're doing fine, Taehyung. You're the best Avatar we could ask for. You have a heart of gold and a way of seeing the world that is unlike any other. It had to be you. If it was me, I don't think this world would be doing so hot..."
"That's not true," Taehyung says, "You would be a great Avatar. You're just as good of a person as I am."
Yoongi rolls his eyes, "Yeah, well that's because you rubbed off on me." Taehyung opens his mouth to retort, but a loud boom cuts them off. Both boys' eyes widen in shock. They rush to a side window and peek through. They both stiffen when they see that the building is surrounded by the firebender soldiers. "How did they find us?" Taehyung mutters.
"Seems like they really want to get you," Yoongi says through gritted teeth.
"What do we do?" Taehyung asks. Yoongi looks around and glances through the window. He curses under his breath and Taehyung wrings his hands together. "Yoongi..." Taehyung murmurs as the firebenders start to generate fire.
"Okay, there are too many of them for us to fight," Yoongi states, "I have a plan and you're not going to like it, but we're going with it because we don't have any other choice. I'm going to fight them and I want you to run away. They can't get you. I don't care if they get me, but they can't get you."
"Yoongi!" Taehyung exclaims, "No, I'm not leaving you."
"You have to, Taehyung," Yoongi says, "You're the Avatar. If the firebenders get you, I don't know what they're going to do, but it isn't going to be good. You're more important than I am. You can't get caught. You need to stay safe."
"You're important, Yoongi. You're important to me. We can both be safe," Taehyung says in a pleading tone.
Yoongi shakes his head, "No, we can't. There's too many of them, Taehyung. This is the only way." Taehyung frowns and shakes his head. "Don't be stubborn," Yoongi says, "I need to do this as your protector."
"But, what about as my friend?" Taehyung asks, "We're supposed to stick together."
"I told you a long time ago that I would protect you, even if it means I'm going to get hurt," Yoongi states, "I'm saying that as your protector, your friend, and your brother. Please, Taehyung, just do this one thing for me." Taehyung bites his lip and looks at Yoongi in the eyes. The two continue to have a silent conversation for a couple of minutes before the younger relents. The two make their way to the exit of the building. Taehyung hides behind an old couch and Yoongi makes his way to the doorway. "I'll be okay," Yoongi states before walking outside. Taehyung squeezes his eyes shut and keeps as quiet as possible. He can hear the fighting and he can only pray that Yoongi is winning. He takes a deep breath before opening his eyes and running towards the back exit. Once he's outside, he takes off across the street. He keeps going until he finds another building he can hide in. He can't hear the fighting anymore or even see what's going on. He peeks outside every so often, hoping to catch a glimpse of his friend kicking the firebenders butts. After a few minutes, Taehyung spots the soldiers instead. They carry a limp Yoongi in their arms and Taehyung has to cover his mouth to prevent calling out to him. He shrinks in on himself a little, fearful that they would see him. Taehyung looks to his friend and gapes at the wounds that litter his body. There are burns and cuts along his arms. Blood trickles down his forehead. "Yoongi..." Taehyung whispers in disbelief.
The head of the firebenders looks to Yoongi with a smirk, "He's still alive, isn't he?" The soldiers carrying Yoongi nod their head. The head smiles, "We'll use him than. The Avatar will come for him. Take him back to base." The soldiers nod their head and drag Yoongi in the direction of their safe house. Taehyung grimaces, not knowing what to do or say. Yoongi told him to run away. Yoongi said that he had to get as far from the firebenders as possible. He couldn't do it. Taehyung couldn't leave his friend behind. Yoongi has always protected him. It's Taehyung's turn to do the same. The young man waits a little while before carefully following the soldiers to their base.
--------
Taehyung carefully makes his way through the base of the firebenders. He has already almost got caught three times. Oops...
He would've gotten to Yoongi a whole lot faster if there weren't so many guards. Eventually, he arrives at the jail cell and he peeks to see if Yoongi is there. His eyes instantly meet with Yoongi's, which appear bored and annoyed. His wounds have been tended to and he looks in much better shape than he had been an hour ago. "Taehyung?" Yoongi asks.
"Hi..." Taehyung says with a smile.
"What the heck are you doing here?" Yoongi says, moving closer to the bars of his cell, "I told you to run!"
"Yeah, well, I didn't listen," Taehyung states, "I had to come save you."
"No. No. You have to go now before they catch you," Yoongi says in a firm tone.
"Yoongi...I'm sure they're not that bad. I mean they patched you up," Taehyung says.
"Only because they didn't want me to die before you got here. I guarantee you they would've pulled the whole kill me or turn yourself in trope," Yoongi states, "And, it would seem that you fell right into their trap. You need to leave, Taehyung. I'm fine here. Go."
"No, I'm not leaving you," Taehyung says, "I'm going to get you out of here even if I die trying."
"This isn't a joke, Tae," Yoongi says, "You could actually get hurt if you stay here."
"I know that, Yoongi," Taehyung replies, "But, so can you."
"Taehyung, I won't ask again. Leave," Yoongi says stubbornly.
Taehyung sighs, "How many times am I going to have to say this? No. I'm not leaving you. I won't. I came here to rescue you. And I'm going to save you, Yoongi."
"How?" Yoongi says. Taehyung looks at the metal bars and reaches out to grip them. He uses his firebending abilities and starts to melt the bars. Soon enough, they've melted away enough for Yoongi to step out of his cell. "I've been training for a while. I know how to earthbend and firebend and waterbend and airbend. I've reached my true potential. I can get us out of here. Please, Yoongi, trust me. Just this once let me save you. Let me be the one to protect you. Because I can." Yoongi looks at Taehyung with a wary expression, but nods his head. "Fine, be careful, please," Yoongi says. Taehyung nods as well and offers his hand to the older man, who takes it without hesitation. The boys take off running. Taehyung uses the same route that he used to get in. They scale the base fairly quickly, only having to stop a couple of times when a firebender passes by. They had high hopes of escaping without anyone noticing. That is all thrown out the window when one of the firebenders spot them. They're surrounded in seconds. Taehyung and Yoongi move closer together. "I knew this was a bad idea..." Yoongi says, "I'm sorry, Tae. I've failed you."
"You haven't failed anyone, Yoongi," Taehyung says, "I wouldn't be here without you. This isn't over, not by a long shot." The young man closes his eyes and opens it a second later. His eyes glow and he springs into action. He uses all of his bender abilities in unison. He attacks each firebender and takes them out with ease. Yoongi does his best to help out, still injured. He glances up at Taehyung every once and a while to make sure he's okay. The younger man is more than okay. He is firing fire and water blasts with both of his hands. He soars through the air thanks to his airbending and takes down multiple men with his rock pillars. Yoongi can't help but smile as he sees his friend take down man after man. Soon enough, each man is taken care of and the two friends make their way out of the firebender compound. Yoongi looks over at his friend while they walk, "Thank you, Taehyung."
"You're welcome, Yoongi," Taehyung replies, "You've always protected me. It's about time for me to return the favor."
Yoongi sighs, "You've really grown up, Taehyung. You're really strong now. Are you sure you want to hang out with a boring, old earthbender like me?"
"Of course, I want to hang out with you! I would never want to get rid of my best friend," Taehyung says with a large grin, "Plus, who else would protect me?"
"I think you're going to be the one to protect me," Yoongi states.
Taehyung grins, "We can protect each other. We'll be each other's protectors."
