Winter's Ghost
Avengers x Characters oneshot, the Avengers Don't belong to me, they belong to Marvel ^^
In the midst of a harsh winter, a large building, much like a warehouse, sat. Snow covering the ground, making It blinding for anyone to see anything on the ground but white. The building looked calm, abandoned almost. But this truly wasn't the case. The building was home to an organization, one that seeks world domination. In their words "To make the world a better place". This organization went by the name of "HYDRA". Inside the building was a complicated layout, but one large hallway stood out most. In this long hallway stood chain link fences standing up to just about the roof. Gates were closed at every little cage In there. In some cages lay dogs, each looking like they belonged to different breeds, some even of a different canid species. In one cage, somewhere near the front with the number 'Seven' beside the cage door, lay a white canid. Bright, aqua like eyes stood out amongst It's pure white fur. Heavy fur keeping It warm with the threatening, freezing temperatures outside the building. The canid looked almost wolf like, It remain laying on the cement flooring, staring at the gate with no expression. Around the canid's neck lay a heavy collar, one that looked more like a radio collar. On the right side was the number seven printed In silver coloring. On the canid's left shoulder blade lay a scar, In the shape of a bullet. The white fur on the canid covered the scar, but the scar was missing the fur that once was there. The heavy metal door leading to the hallway opened, allowing three men to walk In. Muscular, scarred and on edge the men looked. Two headed down the hallway, going to different cages further down. Their footfalls made the ears of the white canid twitch ever so slightly and alert other canids of their presence. The last man walked slightly down the hallway, stopping at the cage that held the white canid. In his hands were a chain, the other looked to be a muzzle. The man grunted a word, a heavy accent rolling off his tongue with ease. The white canid rose to It's paws, aqua eyes staring the man down. The man opened the door, watching as the canid slowly sauntered towards him. The smallest hint of fear rolled off the man as the canid approached and stopped In front of him, leaning down, he clipped the chain to a hook on the back of the collar. Next, wrapping the muzzle over It's snout and securing It behind It's head. The man tugged on the chain leash of the canid, forcing It out of the doorway of It's cage. Reaching over, he closed the gate, walking back towards the front of the hallway and stopping. The two other men approached, but this time accompanied by two other wolf looking canids. The man walking straight for canid seven and the man held the chain leading a pitch black canid. The Black canid had piercing yellow eyes that seemed to glow, It's fur had the look of silk. On the right side of the collar of the black canid was a number printed In silver coloring, 38. The tail of the black canid twitched slightly as they approached the white one. The canid on the opposite side of the black one was a dark grey canid with a lighter underbelly and brown accents. It had orange, golden looking eyes. The collar of the grey canid, on the right side had the number printed In silver coloring, 42. The men lead the canids through the complicated layout of the building.
- Over In Upstate New York -
A man with blonde hair paced a large room, his piercing blue eyes keen on staring at the floorboards beneath his feet. He paced back and forth, counting his steps each time he went. The sound of people entering the room cut off his nonexistent train of thought, he glanced up, straightening. The people, which were mostly men except for two, sat down In different chairs at the long table. Their eyes fixated on the blonde male. "Alright, why'd you call this meeting Steve?" Asked a bored voice, the voice matching to a woman with red hair down to her shoulders and green eyes. She was dressed In all black, staring In a bored manner. "We've had an attack- Correction, multiple attacks on a fairly large city In Germany." He answered, staring at the others gathered In the room. "So, that's all? This'll be easy." Retorted a man with a goatee, the man deemed Steve stared at him. "I'm not finished, Stark." He replied rather calmly, turning his attention back to the rest of the others. "It's not just a simple attacker or a terrorist, It's HYDRA." He paused, watching a male with a metal arm tense up physically at the name. "Not just that, but HYDRA seems to have some animal soldiers." Steve's words seemed to catch the man with the metal arm off guard, his blue eyes widening. "I thought they disposed of that branch..." He muttered under his breath, catching the attention of the man with the goatee. "So you're saying that they have animal soldiers? Steve, we can take these animals down with no problem. They're just animals." The man said as If he knew what he was dealing with, leaning back In his chair. "These aren't just any animal, Stark." Growled the metal armed man, blue eyes fixating on the goatee man. "And how would you know this, hmm? How would you know, Barnes?" Growled the man deemed Stark, In return. Stark seemed to be attempting to push the man's buttons. Before the metal armed man could respond, Steve cut In. "Can you two let me finish?" He sighed, watching the two finally become silent. "JARVIS, could you bring up the pictures caught by civilians and security cameras?" He asked, watching a holographic version of pictures show up. One picture showed a HYDRA soldier attacking some civilians, another was pulled up, catching the attention of multiple. "Wait, stop on that one." Ordered a man with glasses on. The picture showed three canines attacking a group of civilians. "JARVIS, zoom In on the collars around their necks." Ordered the same man, watching as the picture zoomed In. The picture split Into three different parts, the black canines collar having the silver printed numbers of 38. Another canine, with grey, white and brown fur had the number of 42. But the last one, the white canine, the number couldn't be seen or determined. The number was covered by thick fur and a civilian's arm who apparently seemed to be screaming In terror. The canines each had a black vest on, except for the white one, It's vest was a silver white color. Most likely to match It's fur and keep It hidden. The vests of two had a bright red star on the back, a symbol of HYDRA. The star on the white canine's vest was worn out and a darker red, proving that time had done It's toll on the vest. When they had stopped their examination of the canines and proven that they were HYDRA, they looked over to their fellow teammate. The man with a metal arm seemed to be out of It, like reality wasn't a thing anymore. "Bucky?" Called Steve, worry glazing over his beautiful blue eyes. The man deemed Bucky seemed to slowly snap out of It. He looked to his metal arm. "I.. I know that canine..." He whispered, many emotions dancing In his head. If his theory was correct, he'd be overjoyed. "What'd you say?" Steve asked, walking closer to Bucky. Bucky reached down Into his pocket, pulling out two pictures, one of a greyed out picture of a white puppy and one of a full grown white canine.
Bucky laced the pictures out on the table, allowing the others to look at them as he continued to stare at his arm. "Subject 007, runt of the litter, female, Canadian Arctic Wolf." Bucky muttered out, loud enough for them to hear him. "HYDRA had taken wild wolf pups from the wild at the age of at least a week, they managed to get seven. At the time I was still the Winter Soldier, one day, they took me down to that hallway. They explained the wolves would be of use for fighting, they told me to pick one to train with for the future. I looked over to see seven wiggly, scrawny pups, most were black and brown, except one. This one pup was smaller than the others, but pushed her way through her supposed siblings just to get food from their surrogate mother. I told them I wanted her, they were unsure of my decisions but I repeated It, leaving no room for arguments." Bucky paused, allowing them to take In the new Information. "For months I trained with her as she came of the age of two months, when she finally became a year old, HYDRA had given her a collar with her number and a bulletproof vest they had given the others. But her vest was a silvery white, to help It blend Into her fur and look Invisible as I had requested. She was loyal, ahead of the others, witty and playful. For me, she was the thing that kept me grounded. When It came to missions, she was practically glued to my side unless told otherwise by myself." He paused again, to breathe and get his emotions In check. "Until one mission, we were sent to a SHIELD base, to kill the director. An enemy shot at me, but she caught sight of the bullet before I could. It was aimed for my head, to kill me. I was distracted, but she wasn't. She had jumped In front of the bullet, taking It. It didn't hit her In the head, but her left shoulder blade. I remember having a rampage when I saw her bleeding, all I remember Is brutally killing anything that got In my way that wasn't her." Bucky sighed. "After that, I didn't see her again. I had other HYDRA soldiers with me, they must've taken her.." He trailed off, finished with his story. The others looked shocked. "How do you even know It's her, Barnes?" Prodded the goatee man, his arms crossed over his chest as brown eyes stared Into piercing blue ones. "There's only one way to find out, but I'm certain It's her." He replied. After that, no words needed to be said. They were focused on finding the HYDRA base and taking them out whilst getting the three canines.
- Days later, back at the HYDRA base -
The white wolf, along with the black and grey wolves sat In an open room. The room had equipment made for training animals. Each had a bulletproof vest on, the white wolf adorning a silver white one. A HYDRA soldier stood In front of the three wolves, staring at them, an attempt to Intimidate. The white wolf stood In the middle of the other two, staring Into the eyes of the HYDRA soldier. The HYDRA soldier was their commander, a training session for the three was In go at the time. The soldier was about to speak, but blaring alarms and red flashing lights cut him off. He swore In Russian, ordering the handlers of the canines who were along the back wall to grab the canines. The canines were back on chains and being lead out of the room. "Who the hell Is attacking?!" Growled out the commander In English, a rich Russian accent accompanying his words. "The Avengers, Sir." Replied another soldier. The commander narrowed his eyes. "I want every handler with canine, NOW!" He yelled, his broken English coming out somewhat strong. Soldiers scrambled, some to get weapons, others to get their canine companion. Once everyone was gathered, the commander stared at each of his soldiers. He pointed to the white canine and the two that accompanied It before. "These three will go out first, they're our strongest team." He ordered, watching as their handlers unclipped them from the leash. Each canine had a vest of It's own and a collar with It's number on the right side.
Magical point of view switch
I growled out In frustration quietly, the three of us were currently being ushered to the door. Once we were outside, the door closed. My aqua colored orbs searched our surroundings, a flying machine, or jet as the humans liked to call It was several hundred yards away. I looked to my friends, my teammates. "One Of you go to the right, the other go to the left. I want each of you to hide until I give the signal." I Instructed calmly, they nodded their heads. Each trotting off Into a different direction silently to hide. I sauntered forwards, moving slowly as to not be seen by any wandering Avengers. The door to the back of the jet was closed, their scents were not fresh on the ground. So they must have not gotten out yet, must've recently landed. A few hundred yards away, I saw the back slowly open. There on the open end stood a man dressed In red and gold flashy metal, another dressed In blue, white and red with a shield. And a woman dressed In all black with red hair. I crouched low to the ground, a move to not be seen by them. My ears twitched to a faint voice coming from out of the metal man's suit. "Sir, there seems o be a heat signature a couple hundred yards away." It faintly spoke, I bit my tongue to suppress a growl at this. How dare this unknown thing give away my position. A guy dressed In all black and wielding a bow and arrow stopped beside the girl, eyes searching. I could sense the other canines around the area, waiting for my command. The man with the arrows stopped, his eyes staring Into mine. Damn this red star on my back. "Target found." He muttered, my ears slightly twitching at the roughness of his voice. He loaded his bow with an arrow, the four stepping off the jet. The patriotic colored man stood In front of the three, shield on his arm as he stared In my direction. A snarl ripped through my throat, standing to my full height, I raised my tail. Two sets of paws came running In my direction. The canines skidded to a halt slightly behind me yet still at my sides, their sudden stop kicking up snow. A black wolf standing to my right, a grey one to my left. Both were wearing black HYDRA vests. They released their own snarls, golden orange, piercing yellow and bright aqua colored eyes staring Into their souls. It was a standoff, until the patriotic human sent his shield swirling towards me. I leaped up, landing on the shield and slamming It Into the ground beneath my paws. The rest of the Avengers exited the jet, except one. Chicken I thought, staring Into the eyes of the patriotic soldier before lifting my head to the cloud filled sky. A sharp howl escaping my jaws, joined by my fellow teammates and other canines from the facility. The howl ended as I lowered my head quickly, HYDRA soldiers preparing their guns as I had given a clear signal. I charged forwards, my legs bringing me up and off the ground as I latched onto the arm of the patriotic soldier. He seemed familiar, but I brushed It off. My canines digging Into his forearm as he yelled out In sudden pain. He swung his left arm, the one I was attached to, attempting to rid of me. Keeping my vice grip was a challenge, but I managed, that was until he slammed his hand Into my side. I was sent tumbling Into the snow, getting to my paws, I looked to the canines ordered to guard the doors and entrance points. "Don't let any of them In! If you do, I will personally have your head In my jaws later unless Commander gets to you first or you die!" I yelled out In a snarl, seeing them all stiffen. My head snapped back towards the patriotic man as he fought through several canine soldiers to the human ones. I looked for my familiar teammates, grinning as she trotted up to me. "Time to take out flashy metal man." I barked, looking around and spotting the metal man flying towards the base. "Or, we could take out patriotic man." I muttered, spinning on my heels and facing the patriotic soldier who was still fighting to get to the HYDRA base. I gave a wolffish grin to my friends, the three of us bolted off towards the man. I cut him off, my two friends circling him and snarling. "Go for the legs!" I ordered, watching them nod and smirk. They both lunged for a leg each, their canines snapping Into flesh. His pained scream ripped through the air, I could smell the blood. The stench of blood made my mouth water, I backed up, lunging at the man. His arm came up with his shield, hitting me In my right side and sending me rolling. I saw my friends thrash their heads to his front, making him fall backwards. I got to my paws, running and jumping onto his chest. "Go, I've got him." I snarled, watching them run off. I had a paw on his neck, staring Into his blue eyes. I was challenging him to move a muscle, If he did, I'd slice his throat open. He tried lifting his arm and I pressed harder onto his neck, causing him to halt any movement. "Guys, I've been taken down. White wolf." He Spoke to no one, my ears flickered to little voices coming out of a device In his ear. "Rogers I swear to god, did you seriously get taken down by an ani-" The voice was cut off by another one, familiar to me. "Shut up, Stark. Steve, I'm coming." The voice triggered the memories of my old handler, I shook my head, a snarl ripping through my throat. They told me he left, betrayed HYDRA I thought, digging my claws Into the man's neck, causing blood to slowly drip down. He gagged at the pressure. I was so focused on the patriotic man that I didn't hear the noise of something charging up. A searing hot pain erupted In my side as I was sent to the right, a howl of pain escaping me. This alerted my teammates, causing the two to drop their attacks and come running to me. The black one stepped over me, standing over top my body. The grey one blocked any of the Avengers to come closer. I rest my head on the ground, trying to force myself to get up. The black wolf hesitantly stepped off of me, snarling at someone approaching. I forced myself to a crouch on my paws, panting at the pain In my side. "Stay down, girl." Came a familiar voice, my aqua eyes widened as I looked up. A man with a metal arm as his left arm, long brown hair adorning It and steeled blue eyes. I whimpered slightly, my frame shaking. I tried standing up fully, but he stepped closer, only to be blocked by the grey wolf. "Stay down, girl, final warning." He spoke calmly, as If my teammates weren't there. I whimpered In defeat, letting myself flop to the cold, snow covered ground below. The cold bringing some relief to the pain In my side as my aqua eyes stared at the metal armed man ahead of me. "Back down, guys." I whimpered weakly, watching as my teammates hesitated but backed down and sat down behind me. The metal armed man slowly approached me, as If I was a ghost. He crouched down In front of me, putting the palm of his flesh hand out to me. Reluctantly, I sniffed at It. My tail wagged faster then I could see as I confirmed who this was. I forced my weakened body to jump forward and Into his flesh and metal arm. My tail still wagging faster then I could see as I licked his face In joy. "Sorry to break this sentimental moment, but we should probably get going unless you want HYDRA soldiers to come after you, Barnes." Came the voice of the flashy metal man. I whimpered at the thought of losing him again, he smiled. "You aren't losing me again, girl." He whispered, hands finding their way under my stomach and lifting me up. I looked to my teammates. Patriotic man and the bow and arrow man had gotten ahold of them, now dragging them by their collars to their jet. The man holding me carried me after them. Soon we were In the air, my teammates were laying on the floor next to each other, being watched over by the arrow man. I was forced to lay down on one of the benches on the side of the jet, one of the Avengers treating the wound that flashy metal man made with whatever he had shot me with. I snarled as he removed my vest, my aqua eyes narrowing. The metal armed man sat by my head, running his fingers through my fur In an attempt to calm me. The man treating me continued to tend to the wound. "Tony, you're lucky It's not severe. Bucky would've had your head." The man sighed, putting some type of ointment on It as I let out a low growl. "Hey, In my defense, she was attacking Steve." Pointed out the man I had learned was named Tony, he was the flashy metal man and quite annoying. I let out a huff of annoyance out of my nose, once the man backed away from me, I jumped down to the ground. Suppressing a low hissing noise, the black wolf stood up and padded over. He grabbed me by the scruff, dragging me over to where the grey wolf lay. He set me down In between them, laying down on my open side. The patriotic man, who I've learned Is named Steve, laughed. "Seems you've got competition, Buck." He grinned as the man rolled his eyes. "Shut up, ya punk." He mumbled. "Did you ever name her by the way? You know, so we're not referring to her as 'she' or 'her'?" Spoke Tony, curiously glancing to Bucky and then at me. "Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I gave her the name Ghost when she was a pup, HYDRA always referred to her as number seven though." He replied.
"Winter's Ghost, I like It."
