Tegan

I wake up.

I open my heavy eyelids, which feel as if sand bags were weighing them down. The pure white ceiling stared blankly back at me. I rubbed my sleepy eyes, and got up slowly. A dull ache pounded inside of my head, I winced in pain. I kicked off my sheets and got to my feet. By now, the pain was almost agonizing. I saw Ava sitting on her bed, fiddling with a hang nail.

"Where is everyone?" I whispered.

Ava looked up at me, startled.

"Y-your awake!" Ava shrieked, her eyes wide with surprise.

"Yeah... Where is everyone?" I repeat, my suspicion increasing.

"They just went to breakfast, I stayed behind, in case you woke up. Everyone has been so worried about you!" Ava said.

She crossed the room and wrapped her thin arms around me waist, drawing me into a bear hug.

"Tegan! Tegan's awake!" I heard a cry of joy from the door way.

There stood  Sarah and Leah.

They ran over, tackling me into a four way hug.

Once we had untangled each other from one another, the 3 girls held me at arms length, as if to inspect me.

"Amazing..." Murmured Leah, "There's not a scratch on her!"

I stepped back, giving all of them a suspicious glare.

"Guys, what happened?" I say, looking at each and everyone one of their shocked or surprised faces.

"You mean, you don't know?" Sarah replied, her eyes widening. She exchanged a scared glance with Ava beside her.

"Of course she doesn't, she's been asleep for 2 weeks!" Leah exclaimed.

"What don't I know?" I shout, exasperated. I take another step back from the 3 girls. I realise that Carrie was missing.

"Is Carrie still at breakfast or something?" I question.

The 3 girls just stared silently. Slowly, one by one, there eyes turned a deep blue, indicating sadness. Ava's eyes filled with tears.

Suddenly, I grabbed Leah's shoulders impulsively. I looked her squarely in the eye. "She's gone, isn't she?" I whispered hoarsely, a thick lump quickly forming in my throat.

Leah nodded sadly, a lone tear trickling down her pale cheek. Ava walked silently out of the room, covering her face with her hands as she left. Sarah just stared glassily at me.

"How?" I whisper.

"She died because of you." Sarah replied.

"Me!? What did I do!" I shout angrily.

"We can't talk here. Sunshine may hear!" Sarah's frantic reply stunned me. She ran out if the room, with Leah and I in hot pursuit.

Luckily for us, most of the girls were still in the kitchen, so we could easily slip away unnoticed.
