Chapter 13 - Still Milo

---Felix' POV---

I sniffed, keeping my eyes shut as I listened to the steady thumps of Milo's heart. The murmuring voices on the background faded away to the steady and strong sound that pushed against my ear; proving me that Milo was still alive and by my side.

Stretching slightly, I nearly smiled as he let out a huff and pressed closer until I was nearly squished against the back of the sofa. My stomach jolted as I buried my nose in his scruff and sighed.

Why are they staring at us like that? Its unnerving...

Milo seemed to agree; a small yet annoyed growl slipped from between his lips as he pushed himself upright, hiding me from view.

A few chuckles resounded through the room as I sat up too, hair sticking up as I started rubbing through my eyes.

Oh... I think I might've fallen asleep...

Yawning, I grinned when Milo did the same, hopping off the couch to stretch. My eyes flitted to his healing wound, the redness of it made me wonder if it hurt him. Even so, I didn't mind the lack of his front leg.

It's still my puppy...my Milo.

Looking around the room, I frowned at the rather large amount of people standing around, all watching either me or Milo. Simply ignoring them, I stood beside Milo, wondering why we were even here.

Glancing at Charlie, I motioned with my hands, catching her attention before signing my question. "When can we go home?"

The people shifted awkwardly before sighing as one of them shook his head. "Look kid, I know you want to keep Milo with you but the truth is simple. A wolf in the suburbs isn't a good thing, not everyone likes it and soon enough someone will actually try to hunt the pup."

My eyes widened while the man grunted when an elbow jabbed into his gut. "Sheesh, what did I do this time love?"

The man who had jabbed him simply rolled his eyes. "You can be so bloody dense Terrance."

"Look," Quinton interjected, stepping forwards only to slow down as Milo growled warningly. "There are some things that need to be explained..."His eyes flitted towards Charlie before back to Dimitri, who sighed and nodded.

I watched as Dimitri walked over to Charlie, murmuring softly before she followed him with a curious frown. Meanwhile Quinton slowly sat down a few steps away, tapping his fingers together while searching for words.

"I don't know...where to start."

"We're werewolves kid, deal with it. OW -What the hell love!"

I blinked, tilting my head slightly as I watched the pair bicker, Terrance trying to avoid Mike's slaps and elbows before simply snatching him up and pinned the boy on the couch with a wide grin.

"Like I said love. Keep it to the bedroom." Terrance replied with a wink, causing Mike to scoff and roll his eyes.

Werewolves...I've read about those...and it kinda made sense actually. How these people acted and reacted was just like wolves did. I had heard them growl softly before, reacting more on body language than actual talking.

Milo huffed beside me, making me look over and smile down at the tiny white pup that was growling softly while tugging on Milo's tail. He simply huffed and rolled over with a happy pant, sniffing at the youngster when it yipped and pounced on his tail.

A hand landing heavily on my shoulder made me yelp and back away on instinct, baring my teeth at whoever touched me. Milo stood beside me in a flash, pushing me further against the corner while snarling deeply. Hackles raised and canines bared, he snapped his jaws while I pressed closer against him.

Shivers ran through my body as I fought against the growing disgust of being touched. My nose curled as I brushed over my shoulder, trying to rub away the uncomfortable feeling. Milo seemed to agree as he nuzzled the area gently before rubbing his cheek over it.

He paused to sniff at my shoulder before huffing slightly. I blew a breath at him when he started sniffing my cheek, making him snort and shake his head.

Silly pup...

I closed my eyes as he kept sniffing at my face, his whiskers tickling me until I giggled and pushed his muzzle away.

---Milo's POV---

My hackles were still raised as I rubbed my scent over Felix, keeping a close eye on the other wolves. They seemed surprised by Felix' reaction

I wasn't. He was fine with the pup interacting with him, it was still in some way controllable. Unlike the wolf trying to grab him, if Felix didn't want to interact with the pup, all he had to do was stand up and move away.

The man that touched him however, could hold him against his will. I didn't even know how I knew exactly what bothered Felix about being touched but I had a feeling it was for the same reason as to why he didn't interact with his family all that much.

A pack only remains a pack if you can rely on one another.

A sigh made me look up, tongue flicking between my canines as I lowered my head to stare at the man. The same older man that trapped me in his room, separated me and Felix...yet reunited us at the same time.

I don't understand anymore.

"Ugh, why doesn't anyone just say it like it is? Look pup, you're just like us, a werewolf." Terrance scoffed before grunting as Mike slapped him up the head, uttering several distinct curses before he left the room along with a whining Terrance following on his heel.

One of them? Me?

As if.

I looked around the room, tilting my head as everyone remained serious, all staring back at me. Really? They believed I was one of them? I've never changed to a human like them?! I'm just a wolf!

"I'm sorry to say Milo but no, you're not. You were born just like us, taken from us. And for whatever happened in your past, your wolf decided to remain in control and not let you shift back."

Looking behind me, I spotted Felix smiling as he sat down and hugged me against him, humming softly. He didn't seem to care much about this...revelation. But if Quinton was speaking the truth, how would I find out?

The man sighed, scratching at his neck. "There is a way though it won't be pleasant. In situations like these, where the inner wolf refuses to share control, we can invoke the change. The Alpha...Lee, will have to mark you as pack in order to do so and the change itself will be quite painful."

I huffed softly, pressing closer against Felix as he scratched through the fur around my throat until I just drooped in his lap.

"You're...kind of part of the pack already due to our...relationship." I tilted my head at that, looking back at Quinton. Which relationship did he mean? I haven't seen the man before this. He seemed to flinch as soon as the thought popped in my head before he sighed deeply.

"That's because I didn't know I had pups of my own; they were taken from me, hidden. You are one of them, Milo." He whispered softy, a slight hesitation in his voice as I stilled. Even Felix lifted his head to look at Quinton.

He's...my father? But...how?

Movement caught my eye and I curled my lip in a warning snarl, pausing Quinton in his approach before he started shedding his clothes. Within seconds, a fully grown wolf stood a few steps away, whimpering softly as my body froze in shock.

The wolf...Quinton, laid on the floor, whining as he slowly bared his stomach submissively while I remained standing, hackles raised and grumbling softly. I didn't trust this...I didn't trust any of this.

I was surprise when that little pup, Zayne, stepped up to sniff at Quinton and gave him a few licks over the muzzle. The wolf huffed and gently pawed at Zayne until the pup turned and eyed me warily.

Ever so slowly, it crawled closer and closer until it craned its head to hesitantly sniff at my throat. My tail started to wag at the thought of having a pup interact with me, only to pause at a faint scent on Zayne.

Slowly, I leaned over, sniffing at his scruff and head before a low whine slipped from my lips. The scent that mingled with Zayne's own scent and was nearly suffocated by the clingy scent of that other male, Marcus, was one that brought back memories.

I still remembered being squashed between squirming bodies, comforted by their warmth and the taste of milk in my mouth. But I did also remember the nudging of a small, cold nose against my side as my nest mate wriggled closer.

And that scent, that pure nesting scent that I remembered from my nest made was what I smelled on Zayne. As if to prove it was indeed my sibling, he reached up and nudge the underside of my muzzle.

Just like he did in my memory, squirming closer in search of warmth and comfort.

But...if Zayne was my sibling...and he was one of them. Then what Quinton said would be the truth.

My paws seemed to move on their own as I stalked closer, slipping out of Felix's hold, who seemed distracted by the little Zayne. Quinton's tail picked up speed and he made a move to get up, only to whine and remain on the floor as I snarled warningly.

Every time he moved suddenly, I jumped and snarled, snapping my teeth. When I was close enough, I hesitantly reached forward to sniff at his fur.

His scent was new yet oddly familiar, as it had been very faintly on the body of my mother.

They're telling the truth...

Ever so slowly, Quinton rolled on his side, slowly pushing on his paws as I remained still. I felt conflicted, trying to process all this new information, trying to realize that this man...this werewolf, was my father.

Which meant I...am one of them.

A giggle made me look back, my muzzle relaxing in a happy pant as I saw Felix smiling while arching his neck, trying to stay out of Koda's reach as the pup tried to lick his face. Zayne was cradled in Felix's arms and seemed to hesitantly join in on the licking fest until Felix lied on the floor in stitches, gasping for breath.

I jumped slightly when a nose touched my side, flexing my ears back as Quinton hesitantly stepped closer before sniffing at my own scruff. I could feel him inhale before he lapped gently at my face with a deep whine.

I let him be, allowing his show of affection as he sniffed my body and nudged me with his nose, brushing our fur together as his wolf panted happily. And somewhere, deep in my mind, I was happy to.

What I've always wanted, was to find a family of my own, a pack I could belong with. Now it seemed I had found just that and more.

Felix looked up and smiled, reaching a hand out from his position on the floor and I happily pressed my muzzle against his palm. I've come to learn that I was so much more than a wolf, that I quite possibly might be able to change into a human as well.

And yet to Felix, that didn't change a bit to how he looked at me. I could sense it in his mind and heart that to him, I was still his pup, still just Milo.
