Lol, This took me a while since I never really wrote about him. That and the fact that he's also married to someone. Lots of personal things happened in the way and I wanted to post this before the month ended. I hoped you liked it I'm sorry if the ending was a bit rushed, I'll see what I can think of if it ever comes. But for now, enjoy!

There was not much to do on the ship of the Roger Pirates, and it was killing the senses of the crewmen. They were left in a haze in the middle of nowhere, left with nothing to do but to twiddle their thumbs and count the seconds that continued to tick by lazily. Their captain, Gol D. Roger, walked out on deck to observe their surroundings when suddenly the ship rocked violently, throwing crew to the railings and people against the mast. Cannonballs plunged next to the ship as people ran around like headless chickens.

Through the clearing of smoke and water, another ship was made visible. Roger looked out at the flag, trying to make out who's crew it was, but to no avail.

"Ship on the starboard side, incoming fast and heavily armed!" A man yelled from the crows' nest. Roger prepared for battle as well as the other crew members. As the enemies neared ropes were thrown over the ship's deck hooking to the side of the railings. With the boats traveling forwards, the ropes tightened smashing the ships together.

Enemies overran the deck, clashing swords with members of the Roger pirates. Blood was shed and people were lost. As the fight continued on, the opposing pirates started to cower. More and more enemies escaped back onto their ships and the ropes began to loosen. The Roger pirates chased others off the ship and sent them swimming back for their vessel.

As the two ships parted a silhouette appeared on the sail beams of the crows' nest. A woman with (H/l) (H/c) hair could be made out holding two kids who looked no older than fourteen; one with long, bright blue hair and another who was short and red. Following behind them was a beaten up man holding a gun to the woman's head.

Roger and his crew watched as their enemies forced the woman to the end of the beam. Her and the kids looking out over the crowded ocean. Deadly spikes of wood protruded from the water as other pieces of metal sunk. The woman took one more step before pushing the children behind her, her feet shuffling towards the end. As the woman moved slowly, the man behind her crew impatient and pistol-whipped her in the back of the head. Successfully knocking her over the edge and into the ocean, followed by the two kids she tried to protect. Their pleas for help were ignored as the enemy ship disappeared.

After the fight, the ship became quieter but the crewmen became more alert while on deck. Down in the halls and its infirmary, laid the resting woman from the battle before. She was resting on the small but comfortable bed with clean bandages and clothes, her steady breathing matched the creaking boards of the rocking ship. She stirred in her sleep and groaned when sunlight hit her face.

"Buggy...Shanks...Time to get up..." she muttered and started to feel the empty space around her as if expecting to find at least one familiar body near her. When she felt nothing she fluttered her eyes open. "Buggy?" she called out, "Shanks?" She threw the blanket off her in hopes that one of the boys would be there but the only thing that remained in bed was her own body.

"Buggy! Shanks!" throwing her legs over the edge of the bed she stood up immediately and made a dash towards the door. However, when her foot harshly planted into the floor below her pain shot everywhere in her body making her crumble pathetically.

'Shit, everything hurts!' She thought while gritting her teeth.

"Buggy! Shanks!" she cried, "Where are you!" It took her awhile for her weak, trembling arm to pick herself up, but with the help of the bed and a nearby desk she managed to get up on her feet but had to remain hunched forward with her hand on her stomach to ease the pain.

Now moving forward as she intended, she began to head out to the door. But before she could twist the door handle, it busts open and she fell on the floor once again with the same painful consequence. She bared her teeth at the person who did that but quickly hid it when she looked up. That's when her heart started to quiver.

Towering over her was a man who looked like he was in his late thirties to early forties. He had strawberry blond hair, piercing eyes that could cut through sea-prism stone, and a strongly built body. Those features alone are not the reason why she was afraid, but the fact that she has no history with this person and the unfamiliarity of his attitude, authority, or strength sent her mind into a dark spiral.

'Who is he? What is he going to do to me? Where am I? Where are the boys? Are they ok? Are they dead!'

The blond stepped forward and kneeled down to lend her a hand but she flinched and backed away. He frowned at her reaction but luckily he was patient and quickly thought of a way to get through to her without making her more afraid than she already is.

"Hey, it's ok..." he started out, "I'm not gonna hurt you." he inched closer towards her, "You took quite the damage, you've been sleeping for about a week now. Are you feeling better?" She didn't respond and continued with her quietness. "You know, the boys you were with are doing are recovering well too." her head perked up at that piece of information.

"Really?" she asked softly.

"Yeah, do you want to see them?" She gave him a nod and hesitantly gave out her hand. The man took it gently and helped her off the floor. She stumbled and fell on his broad chest and blushed. The man simply chuckled and put her arm around his shoulder and his hand on her waist to support her while they walked to another part of the grand ship.

When they got to the room where the man had promised, she saw her precious children that she had become protective of so long. Like her, they too had bandages wrapped over their wounds and looked cleaner than usual. She sighed in relief and requested to be placed beside them. The kids immediately curled their bodies around her and held her hand in comfort, she smiled at their reaction.

"Thank you," she whispered, "For everything..."

"It's nothing," he said simply. A few moments of silence passed before it was broken again by the man. "If you don't mind me asking," he said, "why do you call them your kids when they don't have the same traits as you?" She simply chuckled.

"I call them my kids because they treat me like I was their mother from birth. I never was able to produce kids, and they had a rough life and something told me that I needed to protect them with my life. You get what I mean if the situation was placed with you and your crewmen, right?" She told him, "After all, you don't need to be related to call each other family," She included with a smile. When he heard those words his world enlighten a bit and the world seem to brighten too. A chuckle escaped his lips, sending the girl to be confused. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing, nothing." He assured and got up. "Well, I'll let you rest with your boys. Feel free to come up and grab something to eat when you feel like it." He turned and started to head out but the voice of the girl calling out to him made him stop.

"Wait, My name is (Y/n) by the way! In case you wanted to know." The man chuckled and looked at her with a glimmer in his eyes.

"Well (Y/n), my names' Silvers Rayleigh, It's nice to meet you." He gave her a small salute before leaving her with her boys. A few minutes after Rayleigh had left (Y/n) sighed dreamily at the handsome face he gave to her.

"Oooo, (Y/n) has a crush!" A voice said in a sing a long tone.

"You got that right!" said the other. She looked down and saw the mischievous looks of Buggy and Shanks.

"Oh hush you two!" she tutted, "He's just being friendly, that's all"

"Oh yeah," Shanks sat up and looked up his guardian with big eyes, "The way he carried you in here was really friendly." Buggy snickered as he sat up. (Y/n) just rolled her eyes with a smile tugging at her lips.

"Whatever you say, kid."

"Come on (Y/n)! You deserve someone like him! It's about time you stop worrying about us and start worrying about yourself!" He exclaimed.

"For once," Said Buggy, "I actually agree with Shanks on this one."

"See!" (Y/n) chuckled at their enthusiasm.

"He does seem like a nice guy," she said in a dreamy fashion, "but I don't think a fierce pirate like himself will fall for someone like me..." (y/n) looked down to her the parts of her limbs that wasn't covered by the large, baggy shirt she was wearing. The skin on her hands to her arms was either calloused, cut, or bruised from the abuse of others or herself. Her body was not slim and curvy, but stiff and bulky. Her legs littered in scars of clumsy mistakes. All in all, she considered herself nowhere near attractive to society's standards. Shanks and Buggy saw how she examined herself and felt her thoughts compare herself to another woman who would be thought as more beautiful and would have men grovel at her feet for their attention.

"You might not think yourself pretty...but we do," Buggy said lowly, "You took care of us and protected us when no one would... and I think that alone makes you a wonderful person, you're beautiful in your own way." (Y/n)'s eyes opened up in disbelief to his words.

"Wow Bugs, when did you become so poetic?" Shanks teased.

"Shut up! I only said that because she looked like she wanted to cry, and I don't like seeing her crying ok!" Shanks laughed and harshly his back with his hand.

"Whatever you say! But (Y/n)," he said in a more serious tone, "You really are beautiful, you don't have to live up the people's standards to make people happy. You made our lives happier than anybody else could!" He gave her beaming smiled and gave her a hug along with Buggy.

She froze there in disbelief from their maturity. Where were her two kids that barely knew what was right and wrong? The kids that she needed to have constant surveillance on to see if they were hurt, sick, or was in the worse? The two little boys whos protection was her life's meaning?

Tears trickled down her eyes as she held the two tighter in her grasp.

"(Y/n)? What's wrong?" Shanks asked.

"Yeah, why are you crying?" Said Buggy with a frown.

"It's nothing..." she sniffed, "It's just that my two boys are finally growing up!" she squeezed them tightly and smothered them in kisses.

"(Y/n)! Stop! This is embarrassing!"

"Yeah! We're too old for this!" They complained.

"I don't care, I want to have this moment with my kids more than anything!" She squealed in delight and rolled on the floor with them. Buggy and Shanks realized what she had called them and smiled. They hugged her back with the same strength and relished in this sweet moment that will remain forever in their minds.

"Hey, (Y/n)?" Shanks called, (Y/n) hummed in response. "Can we stay here? I like it here than anywhere else."

"I want to stay here too..." Buggy muttered.

"If you two are happy here then we'll stay here but we have to ask whoever's in charge if we can stay or not."

"What if they say we can't because we're too weak or something?" one of them asked.

"Then we'll just have to prove to them that we a be of some use," She answered, "and to do that we'll have to become stronger, no more hiding, no more running away." She smirked toward the two, "Well? Are you two in?" Shanks looked at her with wide eyes with a spark of inspiration and determination.

He jumped up to his feet and said, "I am!" He shouted, "I'm going to become strong, stronger than anyone and anything in the world!" Buggy looked at him and the same glimmer appeared in his eyes.

"Then I'm going to become stronger too! I'll be able to protect (Y/n) no matter what!"

"No way! I'm going to protect her!"

"Well, I'm going to protect her more than you!"

"I'll protect her first!" As they continued to bicker and argue with one another (Y/n) simply smiled and laughed. She then hugged the boys deeply.

"I'm counting on you two, ok?" She whispered, "Make me proud, my sons..."

The boys again widen their eyes at their new epithet. And just like before another hug was returned by them.

"We will won't let you down, mom!" They both said with tears down their eyes.

As the trio continued to share another bittersweet moment, the captain and the first mate of the ship discussed what jobs or positions they would be in. Rayleigh thought of this idea after he heard everything from their conversation right after he left. Roger joined him shortly after (Y/n)'s proposal to the kids.

In fact, Roger knew from the very beginning that she was not just an average damsel in distress when he carried her in to be treated. No, it was clearly obvious that she was a fighter at heart. As Crocus examined her body while cleaning and bandaging her wounds, he saw that she was fit and built from hard training from what he could predict that she had been working on for years, her limbs were littered with scars from near misses and mistakes from blades and bullets that would've been lethal if they were moved a few millimeters over, calloused hands caused by a rusted handle of a makeshift knife that he had confiscated from her body, knuckles were cut and bruised from what he assumed were from fist fights. After all, some of the crew members from before had the same cuts on their face that would be caused by another human hand.

He knew that she was a force to be reckoned with, a force that would be a great addition to the crew and informed Roger about her physical stature. Not only that, even though the girl would be rough and tumbled and wouldn't have much trouble with the crew, her thoughts and morality would also be a great help to him as it would lessen the chance of mutiny or a revolt to happen. The boys he was unsure of if he would be able to keep them in such a violent life as a pirate but they seem determined to prepare for what's to happen.

"Well, captain? Your orders?" Rayleigh awaited.

"You know already knew that I was going to ask her after they woke up, the crew probably wouldn't mind, but if they do they have to go through me," He nudged a thumb to where (Y/n) was, "and her."

His first mate simply chuckled, "You might not be too wrong about that, I'm actually starting to like them." He said as he stared deep into the loving girl's eyes.

"You're just saying that 'cause you have a thing for the girl," Roger scoffed.

A vein seem to pop out of Rayleigh's head, "No, No I don't..." he growled, "besides, I don't think the boys would like me much if I suddenly was included in their life with their mother."

"Hey (Y/n)!" One of the kids shouted out, " if we stay here long enough does that mean you'll be able to confess to that guy and get married?"

"If you do, that'll be cool! I always wanted a dad!" Said the other. Roger held in his laugh in order to remain hidden. Rayleigh and (Y/n), however, stayed silent and flushed at their idea.

"Alright, that makes it final," Roger declared, "they're staying on this ship! Better be ready to propose Rayleigh," was all he said before leaving him by the door.

"This is going to be a hell of an experience," (Y/n) and Rayleigh though.

Years passed and everything on the ship and the life of the Roger Pirates changed once (Y/n) and her boys joined the crew. There were some doubts and complaints but after some events of them being extremely helpful and the occasion of them saving some of the crewmen lives time to time made trust easier to earn sooner than anyone thought.

Rayleigh and (Y/n)'s relationship with each other seems to blossom faster too. Who know that they would be complete strangers to married lovers in the matter of a few years. Shanks and Buggy were ecstatic and immediately took Rayleigh as their father. Together they were happy and no other treasure would be more satistfying than having each other happy.
