Entering the present day, where we focused on one teenage boy who started his journey that will rival the entire world.

In the middle of the East Blue Sea.

The story begins in a small rowboat with a simple sail in the middle of nowhere, drifted by a 17-year-old boy wearing a straw hat as he was appeared to be talking to a bird carrying a shoulder bag filled with newspapers.

Kid: "Ever since I was a kid, Shanks and Uta would tell me stories about pirates and their adventures. So, yeah, the sea's been calling."

Getting a closer look on him, showing a faint scar under his left eye, wearing a red cardigan, blue leather shorts and a pair of sandals. The boat he used filled with two barrels of what appears to be food inside as he uses a small empty bucket to prevent the rowboat from sinking.

Kid: "Well, not exactly calling, I pretty much can't swim, but you get the idea. I'm setting out to follow my dream, to find the One Piece and become *screams* King of the Pirates!!!"

His screams might've been loud if there are any nearby islands appear as he raised his fists up in the sky. He then put down his fists and continued pouring water out of his boat.

Kid: "All I need is a loyal crew. I think about ten men should do, but I guess more should be better."

The bird then began squawking at him for something.

Kid: "Well, ten or more people and a bird. It's not gonna be easy. The ocean is... *pauses* is pretty big, and kind of dangerous."

The mail bird continues to squawk as the kid gave him a whole fish as a meal while swallowing a piece of bread.

Kid: "So, what do you say?"

The bird took the fish, bowed at him as a thank you and flew off, confusing the kid.

Kid: "*sighs* Mutiny."

He looked around the sea until his boat started sinking faster. He quickly removed all the fish stored in a barrel before taking some bread on the road. He placed himself inside the barrel as he talked to himself.

Kid: "Aw man! First, I punched a sea beast as soon as I started my adventure, then, my boat's sinking because of the brute force I made. It's my first day!"

Hours past, the barrel continues to float away as the kid inside's already asleep.

The Next Day

On the bright sunny morning, the cruise ship sailing peacefully as two sailors noticed something. It was a floating barrel with whatever's inside as they started to find a fishnet.

On the inside of the ship, it was filled with people wearing expensive clothes while they started dancing. Right by the window, there was a beautiful young woman, had an orange hair and wearing a white dress as she looked at an island nearby when a young man approached her.

Man: "May I have this dance?"

She nodded as she accepted his hand.

Back at those two sailors when they successfully caught the barrel with the fishnet as they struggled to lift it up. The other sailor from the crow's nest noticed something from the island. As those oblivious sailors finally brought the barrel aboard and dragged it inside, the sailor was shock in fear as he finally saw.

A frigate-class pirate ship with three sets of sails, marked with a red heart shaped paint and the hull was coloured with pink and a duck figurehead. The Pirate ship sailed her way towards the cruise ship with great speed.

Sailor (Crow's nest): "*yells* A ship off the starboard stern! There's a pirate flag on its main mast! There's pirates incoming! Incoming raid! Incoming raid!"

The cruise ship's entire crew are getting ready for their defensive positions as they started firing their cannons but were off course while pirates retaliate, causing a shock wave right close to the hull. The passengers were tumbled slightly over. The sailors tried their best to fight back as the pirates relentlessly firing their cannons nonstop.

Sailor (Ballroom): "Everyone, stay calm. Evacuate in a calm and orderly fashion."

Everyone obviously didn't listen to reason as they all ran in a single direction. All but one, a same young orange hair woman who saw all this chaos as she slightly smirked.

On the closer look of their pirate ship, every pirate were quite busy as their captain was revealed.

It revealed to be Captain 'Iron Mace' Alvida of the Love Duck Pirates with a five million berry bounty as she carried her duck mace with anger.

Alvida: "Take everything! But leave the crew to me. Let's show them what true terror looks like."

As the Love Duck Pirates get closer to the cruiser, some of them carried a hook with a rope while others were atop, carried a rope to swing over as Alvida herself carried a rope, yells to her men to proceed their raid.

Alvida swings her mace at her enemies to death as soon as she arrives on time while her crew swing their swords or firing their guns at the other sailors, leaving the others in complete fear of them.

Alvida: "Koby!"

Then came a bright young boy named Koby on his teenage years, approached her in fear as he tries to mask it.

Alvida: "Tell me, who's the most beautiful woman of all on these seas?"

Koby: "*scared* Y-you are, C-captain Alvida."

Meanwhile, the passengers tried to get away when they were ambushed by Alvida and her crew as they dragged three remaining bloodied sailors as a warning to the innocents. All the while, the orange haired woman changed her appearance as she ran to the opposite direction as she finally made it to the top of the Hull. She sudden new appearance is a black bandana on her head, a blue shirt and black legging with an attached red scarf on her waistband.

As the Love Duck Pirates started to the ship off the supplies, Koby wandered towards the kitchen, scared as Hell as he takes a peek inside when the inside was no longer there. The kitchen was mostly tidied up until the left side was filled with a mess and a large barrel not in a sitting formation. As Koby took of the barrel, the woman in a pirate uniform swing herself towards Alvida's unnoticed as the entire crew were inside the cruise ship they seized. As she was about to head inside, a crewmember came out, looked a little dazed. She was shocked as a pirate took notice of her.

Pirate: "Who are you? Never have seen you before!"

As he moved closer, the woman kicked him right in the shins, knocking him out completely.

Back to Koby as tried as roll the barrel out of the kitchen as three pirates came in.

Pirate #1: "Hey, cabin boy. Hiding out again, are you?"

Koby: "*stammers* N-no! I-I just t-thought I'd this b-barrel filled with rum b-back to the s-ship."

Then pirate #1 chuckled as two other looked over with curiosity.

Pirate #1: "*chuckles* We'll help ya for a bit."

Pirate #2: "I was feeling a little thirsty myself."

Koby: "*shocks* What? You can't. What if Captain Alvida finds out?"

Pirate #3: "Well then, just keep your mouth shut if you don't want the captain found out."

Koby: "*sighs* O-okay."

Pirate #1 brought the barrel upward in place.

Pirate #1: "This one's heavy."

Pirate #2: "I can't wait to drink some of that rum."

Pirate #1: "*cracks knuckles* Hold yer damn horses. I'll bust it wide open."

Pirate #1 raise his fist as he was about to smash the lid, the lid was suddenly opened, knocking a pirate out as the straw hat kid came out a moment later. Two other pirates were shocked tmby the brute force the boy opened the lit without breaking it.

Kid: "*yawns* I slept great."

As soon as he said that, a thud was heard and he looked over to where it was. It was a man, lying on the floor unconscious. It was pretty confusing for a kid to see that person which leads to one question.

Kid: "Did I do that?"

Pirate #2 & #3: "YOU DID!?!?"

He nodded at the sight, realising at the situation.

Kid: "Sorry for that. I just woke up from inside the barrel. Say, do you have any meat?"

Both Koby and two two conscious pirates were shocked by the sudden answer from the kid but the latter raised their swords at him.

Pirate #3: "Do you think this is funny even though you're talking to a pirate?"

The kid ignored them and talked to Koby as well.

Kid: "Hey kid, do you have any food around here?"

Pirates: "*yells* HEY!! DON'T IGNORE US, LAD!!!"

As they started raising their swords at him, he sensed it and surprisingly defended himself, grabbing their wrists where their swords were.

He quickly disarms their swords with his bare hands, sending them towards the celling, shocking both pirates and Koby as he swings his right hand, forming a fist and punch the former out cold, causing the latter to drop on his butt in fear. The kid notices and helps Koby up as he shows his right hand in defence.

Kid: "Hey hey, I'm not gonna hurt you. I just defended myself here, promise."

Koby calmed down as he sees the kid in a good light, nodded, calming himself down as he helped the kid out of the barrel.

Koby: "I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Koby. What's your name?"

Luffy: "Oh, I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Nice to meetcha."

Koby and Luffy shake hands as the former realised what the latter asked. Koby looked around the kitchen before proceeding to the pantry when he and Luffy —who followed him in confusion— found quite a food supply and started gathering it. After sometime, the pantry was empty and three unconscious pirates were tied up and locked as two youngsters, started eating loudly, especially Luffy.

Luffy: "*while eating* Koby, is this a pirate ship?"

Koby: "No Luffy, this is a cruise ship that's being pillage by pirates led by Captain Alvida."

Luffy: "*while eating* Well, do you know where the boats onboard?"

Koby: "*stammers* I-I think s-so."

Luffy: "*swallowing* Well, my boat got sank yesterday maybe so that's why I was in a barrel. Are you a pirate, too?"

Koby: "No. I was kidnapped when I went fishing without realising that my village was raided by Alvida and her crew. It's been two years that day. In order for me to survive, I've been forced to be in her crew as chore boy."

Luffy: "Geez. All I could of is that you're dumb but I understand. But, I'm a pirate too."

Koby: "*confused* B-but you don't look like a pirate but then, you fought well like one. All my life, all I could think about pirates are nothing but scum. They're all thieves and murderers."

Luffy: "*smiles* Not the pirates I know when I was a kid. But, that's the story for another time."

Meanwhile on the cruise ship's main deck, Alvida questions the captain while her crew gather the riches from the passengers and the vault.

Alvida: "Where is the pirate hunter named Roronoa Zoro? Don't deny he was on your ship."

Cruise ship's captain: "He booked passage to Sixis Island. He payed handsomely but after that, I don't know."

Alvida: "*threatening* Liar! I know Zoro must be after me for the bounty. Who else is worthy of his pursuit?"

Cruise ship's captain: "I know of his work. Even he showed me a list of pirates and their bounties-"

Alvida: "*interrupts* And of course, I was at the top."

Cruise ship's captain: "Actually, your name wasn't on it."

Some pirates snicker at the man's poor choice of words when Alvida groans in anger, stood up and bashes his skull hard with her duck mace.

Alvida: "Take their riches, and find that useless cabin boy here to clean up this mess."

Pirates: "*yells* Aye aye, Captain Alvida!"

As they were busy gather everything towards their captain's ship, a disguised young woman found the pirates' treasure haul and smirks as she carried an empty large sack.

??: "Hey! Can you help me?"

As the orange-haired girl turned around, she saw a blonde-haired girl in a cell. She wore a blue shirt and a brown checkered blouse. She has brown eyes as she looks at her.

Orange-haired woman: "What's in it for me?"

Blonde girl: "Listen, I don't need anything from you. I just wanted to get off this. And by the looks of it, you're not from the Alvida Pirates, right?"

Orange-haired: "Yeah. I'm a thief who only steals from pirates and nothing more. So?"

Anne: "Nice to meet you thief. I'm Anne. The Alvida Pirates doesn't like any other woman who "challenges" Alvida for being beautiful."

Thief: "For the title of 'most beautiful', She's not even the Top 20."

The thief thought about it in a moment then, took a cell key from a pirate she knocked out and open Anne's cell. As the light shows Anne more, the two looked at each other carefully while a single thought comes in their minds.

Thief/Anne: She kinda looks like me.

They shook out of their thoughts as they shook hands.

Nami: "I'm Nami by the way. So, want to get out of here?"

Anne: "*smirks* You don't need to ask."

Koby: "But, I don't get it. Why would anyone want to be a pirate?"

Luffy: "'Cause it's the best thing there is. You have the... *pauses* the wind in your back, the salty sea air, your own loyal crew by your side. You're never know what's on the horizon. It's all about being... free."

Koby: "But it's not for me. Nothing's free on Alvida's crew. She tells me when to eat, to sleep. *disgusts* I even have to paint her toenails."

Luffy: "So why don't you just leave?"

Koby: "'Cause no one leaves Alvida! You have to face death to do that. She'll never let me go."

Luffy: "You should never let anyone tell you what you can't do. If I did all that, I never would've left my village to go find the One Piece."

Koby stood up in shock as Luffy's goal.

Koby: "Gold Roger's treasure? That's impossible. Every pirate in the entire world is after that."

Luffy: "Then why shouldn't I be the one to find it? As soon as I'm out of here and gather a crew and a ship, I'm on my way to the Grand Line."

Koby: "*scared* B-because it is called a p-pirate graveyard. T-there are a-hundred-yard foot w-waves and s-sea beasts that'll crush your b-b-bones. O-once you e-enter the Grand Line, y-you n-never r-r-return."

Luffy notices it and punched his head. Koby groaned in pain after receiving that.

Koby: "Why did you hit me?"

Luffy: "You're scared so I knocked some sense into you. Besides whether I can do it or not, I'm gonna do it because I want to."

Koby looked at him in awe as Luffy takes a look at his straw hat.

Luffy: "I've decided to be the King of the Pirates, so if I die fighting for it, that's fine with me!"

Koby widen his eyes filled with wonder and inspiration at Luffy's confidence. As Luffy walks away, something inside Koby's mind that might shown his confidence.

Luffy: "*chuckles* Shishishi, Alalright, I guess I better go find a boat."

Koby: "*mumbles* Do you think I can do it? That I can become a marine?"

Luffy: "*heard all of it* You never know unless you can try."

Koby thought for a moment before grabbing a mop and breaking the tip to make a makeshift staff, showing his confidence further.

Koby: "*shouts* Then my dream is to defeating evildoers, defending the innocents and bringing Justice to the world. People like Alvida, and many others deserve to be behind bars and giving the people the peace they deserve. And in order to do that, I'm gonna be a marine."

Luffy: "*grins* Okay then, it's settled. First, find a rowboat and second, taking you to the nearest Marine base."

A While Later, Koby tries being sneaky while Luffy casually walks towards the main deck without a care in the world as the former keeps looking for a boat. Without a second longer, pirates, who previously held the passengers hostages, appeared carrying a big haul as they saw them. Koby was shocked, trying to pull Luffy out of sight a second too late as they were suddenly surrounded by Alvida's crew.

Pirate: "Captain Alvida! We found Koby!"

Then, Alvida arrives a moment later, still carrying her big mace stained with dried blood as she motions her left hand to surround the young.

Alvida: "Koby, what is the meaning of this?"

Koby: "*scared* Captain Alvida, I can explain-"

Alvida: "*interrupts* You dare to betray me for a bounty hunter? *looks at Luffy* And you, you're too young and scrawny to be Roronoa Zoro."

Luffy: "*smiles* I'm Monkey D. Luffy."

Alvida: "Never heard of you."

Luffy: "Well, remember the name cause I'm gonna be the King of the Pirates."

The entire crew laughed at them while Nami and Anne took noticed as the former continues to sneak away and the latter looked at them with a somber expression.

Alvida: "You must be new around here, boy, because who is the most beautiful and powerful pirate on the seas?"

Alvida Pirates: "Captain Alvida."

Anne: Certainly not you, fatass.

Alvida frowns as Koby didn't answer her question. She sets down her bludgeon mace in a threatening way as she glares at him again.

Alvida: "I'm sorry. I didn't hear you, Koby. Who's the most beautiful and powerful on the seas?"

Koby looks at her in fear as he struggles to answer her. Luffy looked at Koby worrying as well as Anne while Nami carefully sets down a rowboat and stash a bag of treasure and an empty chest. Anne made a decision to go to the boys while Nami quietly called her.

Alvida: "Answer me, you snivelling runt."

Luffy: "*interrupts* He doesn't have to. Koby's his own man."

He smiled at him while Koby's overruning fear whispering the former to stop.

Alvida: "No, no, he's not. He's mine, and he'll always be mine."

Anne: "*shouts* He's not, you dumb seacow."

Everyone on deck were shocked wide-eyed as Anne approached Luffy and Koby as she held her ground besides them as Nami shook her head and continued piling up the stolen treasure.

Alvida Pirate #1: "Captain, that's the prisoner."

Alvida: "I have eyes, you bilge rat. *points at Anne* You should've stayed where you belong, in a Brig."

Alvida raise her left hand palm wide as the gathering pirates surrounded the three. Luffy placed Koby behind him as his cracks his knuckles while Anne raise a sword she stole. Alvida closed her palm, meaning her crew attack the young ones.

Luffy started punching bare-handed and Anne dodges their attacks while slashing them in a fatal yet shallow cuts. Koby looked at them in amazement as two pirates came after him. He ran when Luffy notices and attacks Koby's pursuers as well as Anne. As Luffy notices Anne and Koby on the front as he unleashed something that shock everyone.

Luffy: "Gum Gum Whip"

Luffy stretches his right leg as he spun around in a roundhouse kick, knocking some pirates off of Koby and Anne. Suddenly, a pirate came from behind Luffy as he notices and dodges away quickly and grabs a pirate's head and slams him into the ground.

Luffy: "Don't attack someone from behind."

Luffy smiles as he continues to fight them while Anne slashed through one pirate to another. She blocks one then attacks the other in a horizontal slash. In about 30 pirates later, there were 15 remaining as they are too shocked to move against, especially Alvida.

Alvida: "What kind of a monster are you?"

Luffy: "*grins* A stretching kind."

Alvida: "You do know that pirates are against each other for the loot, or treasure? Even as pirates, we're already considered as enemies."

Koby came out from the side of the deck and went towards Luffy and Anne, scared all over.

Koby: "Luffy, Miss, we need to get out of here."

Luffy: "Why?"

Anne: "Cause I saw her bludgeoning a lot of people with that club before I got caught and thrown into the brig."

Koby: "*scared* Y-yeah. Cause she's- *pauses*"

Luffy: "I've decided to be the King of the Pirates, so if I die fighting for it, that's fine with me!"

Alvida: "I'm what, Koby?"

Koby: "*determined, shouts* You're the ugliest, cragged old hag I've ever met!! And I'll be a marine to capture you and your crew away for good!"

Every conscious pirate open their mouths wide in shock while Luffy and Anne grinned like crazy. Alvida started raising her club in anger while Luffy started laughing. She's completely enraged as she was about to swing.

Alvida: "*yells* You started this!!"

Koby: I've done it. I fought back. I said it. No regrets. For my dream.

As Koby was about to face death for the time, Luffy swooped in and took a hit instead. They are shocked to see him not just survive but bounce the club off his head. Luffy turned from being laughable, joyful boy into a serious, threatening pirate.

Luffy: "That's enough."

Alvida felt fear for the first time, coming from a rookie as he started to land a punch on her.

Luffy: "GUM GUM *stretching his right arm, forming a fist as his left supporting his right shoulder* PISTOL!"

Luffy's arm stretched back in a quick motion and punches Alvida through the stomach, launching her away from her ship. Luffy turned his arm back to normal and looked at her crew.

Luffy: "Does anyone have any problem with Koby?"

Alvida Pirates: "*murmur* No sir."

Luffy brought back his usual grin, in which made Anne blushing up her cheeks.

Luffy: "Then, we need a boat and enough food for a few days."

Koby: "*confused* W-what?"

Luffy: "Yeah. You both are coming with me, right."

Koby and Anne looked at each other for a moment and turned their back at Luffy, nodded. As they grabbed a rowboat and a pair of oars, a sound of a cannon going off was heard when all of them notice three Naval battleships approached their position. The Alvida Pirates scramble in fear as well as the sailors that were still held captive when Luffy motions Koby and Anne.

Luffy: "There's where you need to go."

Anne: "Bad idea. The Marines might thought all of us were apart of the crew."

Koby: "Why did they fire upon the civilian ship as well?"

Luffy: "*ignores Koby* Then, we leave now."

All three of them aboard the rowboat before Anne cut down the ropes for their decent to the sea.

Nami was about to row away from the line of fire when suddenly, a second rowboat slammed right beside her as she saw the same group from eariler and got lost when she gazes upon a straw hatted boy with big grin. It all ended when a body of water splash right between them.

Sometime After.

Three kids in a small rowboat in the middle of nowhere as Koby looks back.

Koby: "Looks like we managed to get away."

Luffy: "Whew, that was fun. Shishishi."

Anne: "Question, um?"

Luffy: "Oh, we haven't met yet. I'm Luffy, nice to meetcha."

Luffy reaches out his right hand as Anne smiled and took her hand to shake his.

Anne: "I'm Anne, by the way."

Koby: "That look on Alvida's face. She's scared, the very first time I've seen her this scared. Nobody's stand up to her before. How did you stretch like that?"

Anne: "*curious* Yeah. How?"

Luffy: "It's because when I was kid, I accidentally ate a Devil Fruit. It made my entire body into rubber."

Luffy pulled his left cheek and stretch it to like a meter long while smiling. Anne smiles sweetly while Koby looked shocked.

Koby: "A Devil Fruit. I heard it in a while, it's supposed to be a myth. I didn't realise that they were real."

Anne: "Are we going somewhere, right?"

Luffy: "Of course, we're going somewhere. Next stop, to the Grand Line."

Anne: "But how are we going to the Grand Line? You don't have a crew, a ship. Heck, you don't even have a map."

Luffy: "*realises* Hey, you're right. We should probably find one of those up. In order to find one, we need to go to the next island."

Koby: "You're right. The nearest island is in a few hours. What are gonna we do once we reached there?"

Luffy: "There's a person that Alvida mentioned. The pirate hunter guy, what's he like?"

Koby: "You mean Roronoa Zoro?"

Anne: "If she's looking for him, then it's old news about Sixis Island. That was a month ago. *thinks* Before I got captured, I heard that he got arrested on a Naval Base on Shells Town. Don't know if Shells Town is at the nearest island we're headed."

Luffy: "*pouts* So, he's weak?"

Koby: "*shocks* No! He's a well known bounty hunter. Some say he's as terrifying as a demon. *calms down* Why do you ask though?"

Luffy: "*grins* If he's a good guy, I might get him to join the crew."

Anne and Koby were shocked to hear that, Luffy's first intention is to get 'Pirate Hunter' Roronoa Zoro to join on his crew.

Anne/Koby: "*scream* ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!"

Luffy: "Why? He's seems like a good guy."

Anne: "If he got caught, means he did something bad."

Koby: "*shaking* There's no way. No, no, no! Absolutely n—"

Luffy suddenly punched Koby on the noggin, wincing in pain.

Anne: "*yells* WHY DO YOU PUNCH HIM!?!"

Luffy: "*shrugs* Dunno. Felt like it."

Somewhere on the Island

In a scorching sun on a sunny day, there is a man, strung up on a wooden pole in the courtyard. His features tell that he has black trousers tucked inside black boots, a plain white shirt with three undone buttons at the collar, his green bandana on his left bicep, his green haramaki on his waist and underneath it, a belt strap with three slots on the right side. He is a muscular man of average height with lightly tanned skin. He endures the heat for how long.
