[Sabo]
(Kid! Reader, adult Sabo)
(This will likely be my only warning on the matter, that there will be spoilers for people who haven't finished Dressrosa. If you're before then, you really like taking the high road don't yah? I won't put a warning for anything before Dressrosa, only after. This will likely be my only warning.)
Perhaps, you were dumb, stupid, an idiot, and whatever else the like may be but, in your head, you were brave. You set sail to an island you heard some discussing in private, all by yourself and lucky to survive on little navigational skills. This island contained the grave of two fearless pirates that sailed the seas, Portgas D. Ace and Edward Newgate.
You were a child, no older then ten of age yet, something sparked with bravery and fearlessness inside you.
You found the gravesite and sat in front of Ace's grave with a huff. You occasionally muttered utter nonsense.
You spoke about how they unrightfully killed and, even though you yourself did not know or think of Whitebeard much, he was the captain that Ace followed. In that regard you also respected Whitebeard as you highly respected Ace.
You stayed there for a few days, the food and water supply you brought were plenty enough for another week or so.
One day you saw a boat dock at the shores, you were actually now scared as humans were likely the scariest of all creatures. You hid not too far from the graves as you saw a wavy blond haired man walk to the graves with a few items in hand.
You could instantly tell the man was friendly and knew Ace, though he seemed to know him more then you did.
You let him say his final words has he walked away but, dumb you had to say something and catch his attention. He seemed friendly but that was by appearance only.
"Who are you? How did you know Ace?"
He was caught off guard, fully not expecting someone to say something to him.
"That's complicated, really. In a sense I'm his long lost brother." He scratched his face while staring down at your short child self.
"You aren't Straw Hat Luffy! He never mentioned anyone else." You argued to the man you accused as an imposter.
"I wouldn't be surprised, I seemed pretty dead then."
"What's your name... And prove that you're his brother! Prove it and I'll believe you." You got more and more carried away by the second, hoping to get information on whether or not he was in fact telling the truth or not.
"Sabo but- your name first before I answer anymore of your questions." Sabo bent down to your level and pinched your nose.
"Meanie!" You rubbed your nose as he simply laughed at the action. "It's not funny! The name is (Y/N). Prove it to me already."
"Ah well, what about your relationship with him, how should I know to trust you?"
"He saved me and my mother, burned down some nasty trees that made us sick. He also stayed there a week with us until his compass thingy set to the next island. He was awesome- I hate the marines for what they did to him. He was a good guy!"
"He was a good person, I know that. He was stubborn but I loved my brother nonetheless."
You didn't know what else to say at that moment as the words he spoke seemed genuine and honest, he believed in Ace as well which furthermore made you trust him
"Okay, I believe you then." You stuck out your hand to make a truce with him and he accepted it.
"So, kiddo. How much do you hate the marines."
"A lot! They are big meanies who do nothing but kill and are shady. Their outfits even suck!" You held your fists clenched in anger thinking about them.
"I don't like them either, in fact, I work to fight against the world government itself." Sabo spoke about his line of work.
"Wait, you do?"
"Yeah, I work for the revolutionary army. I'm sure we'd have enough room for you if you are interested in joining. Only if you're serious about it though." He tried his hardest to act adult like, giving some kind of parent like lecture.
"Can I please?! I'll do it!"
"Are you sure? What about your mother."
You nearly chocked hearing those. She was still on your home island, likely in a panic because of your sudden absence.
"I- I don't think I can do it. She's waiting for me." You pouted as you were honestly sincere about wanting to join.
"Let's say I take you back to your mother and in a few years I come back for you."
"Uh huh please! I can train until the day you come back."
He could see the fiery spirit you held within, he found it a familiar soothing feeling as it reminded Sabo of him and his two brothers around your age. He knew your words were honest, that they'd forever never be changed. He knew, deep in his heart, you'd grow up to be a fine Revolutionary when the day came. He knew that you'd strive to help others, much like himself.
