I Never Had the Chance
(Young Big Mom x Reader)
There was a soft beeping in the room. Lin Lin kept to your form. Watching your life drain slowly from your body. Her family grieved and wallowed. But in your final moments Lin Lin spent the little time she could with you.
You both were so young.
You.. were leaving too soon.
Lin Lin sighed softly sitting beside you. She kissed your forehead softly before taking your hand.
"I never had the chance to tell you...." Lin lin spoke, "How beautiful you look in the moonlight."
She looked to the moon watching over the two of you. Then back to you, where you breathed softly. She could feel death standing beside her as she said her final words to you.
"How rays of that starry night hit you in ways that words can't describe. But I still try. They make you seem alive. With all that energy you have stirring inside. Finds its way onto the surface. And irradiates from your skin in ways that makes the sun look dim. By comparison."
She brushed your hair behind your ear before kneeling on the floor. She rested her head on your lap. Lin Lin's eyes kept to your chest slowly rising and falling. You were still alive. But. For how long?
"I never had the chance to figure out your flaws." She giggled taking your hand and compared the difference between hers and yours.
"See I don't care about your strengths because it's your weaknesses that make you worth it. It's your imperfections that make you perfect. I never had the chance to wake you with soft kisses. To whisper secrets underneath bedsheets. Never had the chance to sweep you off your feet. And make you mine. I mean.... if heartache were a prison... lord knows. I've done my time."
She giggled scooting closer. Lacing her fingers with you. But her eyes narrowed to the cord keeping you alive. Were you suffering so she could be happy knowing you were alive. Lin Lin turned back to you. Your eyes slightly open as you looked over to her. She gasped clutching onto your hand and leaning close to you. You smiled softly and gave a weak squeeze to her hand.
"I never had the chance to lie beside you and feel your heartbeat. To admire the divinity incapsulated to the top of your head to the souls of your feet. Fight off those endless waves of sleep. Struggle to keep my eyes open afraid if I close them. You won't be there when I wake up."
You gave a breathless giggle. Giving a soft smile before rolling back onto your pillow. You still held your smile. Lin Lin smiled softly lying close to your pillow.
"I'm waiting for the day you take my hand. And we go away into a place where we avoid time and space. Where I can wake up each morning to the sight of your beautiful face. Effortlessly crafted. I guess what they say in that song is true. God must of spent, a little more time on you."
You cracked your eyes open to her. Slowly lifting your hand you cupped her face. Lin lin smiled pressing her hand to yours. Before.
You were gone.
That poison broke you down and shut down everything. Leaving.
Lin lin. And your daughter.
Her scream awoke the children and town folk of Whole Cake Island. Alerting people of the news that.... the beloved wife of Charlotte Lin Lin has passed away into the night.
You were buried under the dark rich soil of cake island. Where a shrine sat with pictures of you with each of her children. Besides. Your child.
"Momma."
Lin lin looked to the girl with dark chocolate hair. Tears in her eyes as she looked to her mother.
"I miss her."
"I know baby, I know."
