Sixth: Avengers Fanfiction
The SRA -Superhuman Registration Act- has been activated.
Every superhuman hero now has to sign forms and get badges, revealing their secret identity along the way, in order to continue to be a hero.
It's been less than a few weeks and already there is chaos everywhere.
Captain America, Cloak, Dagger, Falcon, Daredevil, Luke Cage and others have been AWOL. While some like Iron Man, Spiderman, the Fantastic Four, She-Hulk and more have all revealed a secret identity if they have one.
The poor civilians that have been caught in the middle are barely able to stay on their feet between being scared of pretty much everything and then the S.H.E.I.L.D. helicopters and men moving in around cities to capture or kill the non-human super powered beings that haven't signed up.
I'm one of the ones that haven't signed up.
But they don't know that, there's no way they could. I haven't done anything special, not even stopping the muggings and robberies that I totally could've done.
I'm a normal human.
But I can't keep this up. The news has it everywhere that a plant blew up and now there are signs that there is an epic battle raging inside.
Normally, I wouldn't pay any attention to it and keep walking, but an eighty-foot man is hard to ignore. Goliath, one of the younger heroes, is swinging at things beneath him. Helicopters are flying around, but holding fire.
I knew this kid. He's only sixteen.
No, don't you dare do it. Your kind aren't wanted here.
I ignore my consciousness as I walk into an alleyway.
If there is ever an iconic thing it's from the superheroes changing "secretly" in alleys.
I ditch my purse and yank my hair out of its braids, feeling my eyes starting to hum with long dormant power. By the time I reach the end of the path I've changed into my alien counterpart.
I am able to change my shape just a little, right now I'm the size of a jaguar.
All four paws hit the ground as my cheetah body flexes to get used to it for a moment, wings in a rough wingspan of ten feet, sharp snake teeth that can eject enough venom to drop an elephant prick my now snake tongue as I yawn. Claws flow with a little less venom, but just as sharp.
But my shape isn't the only thing that's changed.
This species of alien moves surprisingly fast, they are from Mercury though so it seems normal to them.
As soon as I'm seen like this I am no longer human.
A growl escapes me and I take to the sky, moving over the buildings with ease. Even if I have never been seen on earth, I have still been in many many battles.
People take a moment to respond to things, that moment is all I need. Time slows around me as it bends to a new form in its midst.
A form that it hasn't seen in a while.
Not since Doctor Strange took over in guarding earth.
But I was here before that. We even talked and had tea a few times. As long as I promised to stay human, he had no issue. I had told him I had no intention on turning.
BUT DAMMIT THEY'RE HURTING MY FRIENDS.
As I near the plant I slow and crouch on the edge of the opening.
The battle is absolutely one of the craziest I've seen. People are everywhere, fighting someone who doesn't agree with what they see.
And to think, this all started with a meteor in Stamford, Connecticut.
There are sounds to my right and I quickly slink into the shadows as Daredevil dashes past with Black Widow right on his tail.
Then I hear the com-links flickering everywhere.
"....wait on Iron Man's signal to fire. Nothing else." Hm. So the spoiled billionaire is calling the shots, eh?
Interesting.
My eyes flicker around the carnage as I lay my ears back. The sounds of good people beating other good people hurts. It's almost different then when it is the villain and hero.
This is hero and hero.
I've actually looked up to most of the ones here. I didn't even realize I was zoning out- which is really bad in a fighting zone- until there is a bright flash from one of the helicopters above to the center of the place below.
Battle stops.
A figure starts to rise up and out of the smoke, a figure with a very serious looking hammer.
A figure everyone was told died in Ragnarok a while back.
Thor of Asgard stands in the very center of this hectic mess, looking every bit the God he says he is.
A storm starts to fall and lightning makes sure we know it's there all around the sky.
But this is different.
I've been there whenever he fought in earlier battles. The lightning would dance excitedly, but right now, it's more of a sluggish show.
Clone.
It aims its hammer over at a small group of people, I can recognize Captain America as one of them. Then Hawkeye and Falcon.
Hell no.
Sorry Strange, I'm breaking my promise.
With a snarl I spring myself out of my hiding spot and tackle the clone before it can fire. What I hadn't taken into account? The clone can do more then just stand there.
I snarl and push off it, sliding to a stop a few feet in front of the group I have now considered to be the Rebels. My claws flex into the ground and I stretch my wings defiantly, flapping a few times.
He may be faking being a god, but I am an ancestor of a real one.
The clone stands and looks at me, the malice in its eyes almost making me say 'sorry' and flying off.
But I can't leave now.
Everyone else remains silent, processing what just happened. My tail twitches and I roar at it.
The group behind me seems to become more energized as they figure out I am a friend and not a foe.
The others seem a little taken back, confused, and startled.
The Rebels attack again with renewed vigor as I square off with this Fake. Even if it is only a clone, it still seems to sense whenever it is in danger.
Or maybe I'm not apart of its programming.
Either way, it isn't attacking.
I take slow steps towards it, staying in a low crouch for motion to take off.
Will my poison work on it? Does it have human attributes?
The thing starts up the lightning again and aims for me.
I start to charge towards it, my wings spread as I leap into the air and bare my fangs. I'm close enough to hear the clone growl as a massive energy bolt sails towards me. Right before it hits me I'm able to slow time down just enough to avoid it.
My fur on my back gets a little shock, but otherwise I'm fine. I land again to continue my charge when I hear a large thud behind me.
There is only one thing that can make that big of a noise when it falls.
A commanding Reed Richards shouts something and the clone looks dead. But I can't focus on that now.
Only one human.
Goliath, otherwise known as my friend Bill Foster.
Dreading every step, I turn around.
He has a giant hole in his chest.
I creep towards him and nudge his giant hand with my nose, hearing myself whimper some. There is no response.
He's dead.
I smell the scent of an unfamiliar getting close but can't find where it's coming from. A hand rubs my head as the Invisible Woman becomes visible. Without a word, we both turn and walk towards the Rebels.
Tony is firing up a mega blast,
"Last Chance, Cap, sign the forms." Captain shakes his head. He looks a lot worse than before.
Tony fires and a force field appears over the group, making it bend around them.
I dash over and move quickly, snatching up an injured Cloak as Dagger slips onto my back. I morph into the size of a small horse to support her as I take off.
Soon after, the others follow except for Susan Richards.
But she comes in later.
