Fifteenth: Silently Screaming
I sigh as another message pops up, this one another group message me and my four sisters share.
At least it's not an ad again.
I flip the phone shut and continue down the sidewalk, moving around a group of people carrying things out of what seems to be an anime store.
I smile as I know that'll be me at least one of the days I'm here.
I will be here in Ikebukero for a couple of months, living in a small place that can barely hold the three rooms together. Honestly, even if it is pretty run down, it's one of the best places I think we've ever found.
As soon as I leave, another of my sisters will come and take my place. None of us really stay in one place for too long, we rotate around the globe whenever we can. Unless one of us gets stuck.
I'm so lost in thought, I almost miss the quick cry that comes from down an alley. I pause at the entrance and look at it as the crowd moves around me. I hesitantly step into the area and then hear the voices.
"Oh come on! It's not like we're going to hurt you... too much." A male's voice says as it's followed by more laughter.
"Please, leave me alone!" A female cries back.
I narrow my eyes and get to work.
Slipping off both heels, I slide them into my purse and undo my hair-running my hands through it and shaking my head so that it looks like a mess. Then I unbutton the top of my shirt down to the third as I stash my purse behind a dumpster. I've gone from professional and proper, to looking almost drunk.
Let's act this out.
I stagger and stumble in front of this section of the alley, making sure to wave in front of their lines of vision.
"Wait, looks like we have more company!" One closest to me laughs as he turns to face me.
Five of them. Looks like the leader is the one trapping that poor girl in the corner up there, need to get there without raising suspensions.
I giggle at the attention and make sure to stagger more, leaning against the wall.
"Company?" I force a hiccup, "What kind of company are you boys looking' for?" I feign innocence as I stagger further down the wall.
"Company you'll enjoy." The second promises while I purposely stagger by him, moving close to keep his attention on me and not my path.
"I will?" I ask as I act like I fall into him, looking into his eyes. He gives a chuckle and nods, starting to tilt down as though to kiss me, but I fall back.
Passed three. Two to go.
By now, the leader has let the other girl go and turned in my direction.
"Why don't you come over here?" He waves me over, "Get with her." He nods his head to the girl.
Oh, alright. Thanks for making it easier.
I giggle again and fall forwards against the wall, but also next to her. Her eyes are wide and she's shaking, tears going down her eyes.
"I need you to listen." I whisper to her, getting her attention since I'm not slurring my words anymore. "As soon as I turn around I need you to duck into that corner and cover your ears, close your eyes. Don't come out until I tap your shoulder, alright?" I speak quickly, and softly. She nods and gets ready as the five behind me are none the wiser.
"Come on baby doll, why don't you face us?" The leader coos as he whistles with the others. I turn around and face them, the girl diving into the corner.
"Alright, but remember that you asked for it." I shake my finger at them and my eyes begin glowing a red/Amber color.
They barely have time to register surprise before I hold up a hand and the breeze that had been sneaking in rapidly picks up. It runs down the wall behind me and rockets out to them, sending them all flying into the wall of the opposite building.
There's a series of shouts and cries as they aren't severely injured before they scramble off. I turn to the girl and kneel beside her, tapping her shoulder.
"Hey, it's alright now. We're safe." I whisper to her as I watch her turn around.
"H- How...?" She stammers as she looks to me, and then the empty alleyway. I smile kindly to her and help her stand, buttoning up my shirt as I do so.
"Don't worry about that. How about I just walk you home for now, okay?" I offer and she answers by furiously nodding her head.
Carefully leading her back to the main alley, I fetch my purse and put my shoes on. My hair gets up in a bun as we walk into the sidewalk. It takes me a little while to her her to walk normally with me instead of hunching down, but then we're off to her home.
Once I get her there, a worried looking mother answers the door and lets out a cry of relief as she wraps her daughter in a hug. The father comes out and thanks me before I nod and wave goodbye to them, the smile one my face being painfully fake.
But they don't know me well enough to tell that.
I get home without another indecent and calmly close the door behind me before removing my shoes and looking around.
The apartment I live in is quite a small one, easily missed if you aren't sure what you're looking for.
Three rooms take up all the space; the bedroom that I barely fit a twin bed in; the bathroom you can do your business and wash your hands at the same time in; and the main room that somehow manages to have room to walk around in despite the small-ish fridge, stove, counter, three cabinets on the wall, and a tiny table with two mats to sit on.
I walk into the other room and fall onto the bed with a hefty sigh, but pause when I feel my purse hit the bed.
That sounds... heavier.
I narrow my eyes and open it up, peering inside. There's a rock with a note attached next to my sketchbook and pencils. I sit up and take it out to get a better look at it.
'Interesting creatures come to Ikebukero, which one are you?'
I take a deep breath. I knew that if I kept using them like that somebody would notice, I'm just amazed it wasn't before now.
Things are finally getting interesting.
Now let's see how much they can figure out on their own.
