Chapter 34 - Father?
---Marcus' POV---
As soon as Zayne woke up and was coherent enough to get some food in him, I smiled and eagerly fed him bite after bite. His scent was still clouded, heavy with arousal, which made me dive for the suppressants before things got out of hand.
He took them out of my hands, sticking them in his mouth before his nose curled adorably at the taste. I offered him a glass of apple juice and chuckled as he downed the contents in one big gulp.
I sniffed the air attentively, sighing in relief as Zayne's intoxicating scent slowly dwindled down to the point where it was still detectable but easily ignored. Maybe now we'd have some time to actually rest up without going at it every few hours.
We were werewolves, not werebunnies for crying out loud. Even our stamina depleted at a certain point and I was sure my cock was going to feel raw for a couple of days. Then again, if Zayne still had a fit of heat with the suppressors, I would be more than willing to help him out.
"Seth was supposed to bring us some food hours ago but I guess he was... distracted. Let's try and get some food into you, huh?" I murmured, kissing Zayne lovingly before lifting him up in my arms.
He sighed in relief, nuzzling under my throat as his arms and legs latched onto me. Even if the suppressants held back the worst of his heat, the undeniable urge to be as close as possible still remained.
Zayne would be hard pressed to release me, let alone remain in the room while I fetched him some food. It made my wolf growl in delight as I rubbed my chin over his tangled hair, smiling all the way to the living room.
"And here are the lovebirds." Wyatt chuckled from where he was seated on his mate's lap. Sebastian chuckled, nuzzling Wyatt's ear with a grin. I glanced around the room, noticing hardly anyone was around.
"Where are..."
"The others? Well, Zayne's heat is working on the other mated couples as well, their wolves trying to balance their cycles. Alice already went into heat two days ago while she should've been fine for a few more months." Sebastian explained, growling teasingly when Wyatt made to move off his lap.
I nodded while carrying Zayne further in, smiling as he whimpered when I went to put him down. Thankfully Wyatt managed to untangle from his mate's hold and stood up, reassuring he would get us some food.
"And I'm taking a shot in the dark but Seth and Greg are probably going through their own Mating Heat...and the unmated wolves are all foaming at the mouth by the scents in the air."
Sebastian threw his head back with a loud laugh, startling Zayne for a second before they both calmed down. "You got it. They were able to control themselves when you guys were behind locked doors but when you came out the first time to get some food..."
I frowned, my wolf's hackles rising even if I knew the pack's behavior was instinctual; they were no threat to my mate. But still, I let out a low growl as Sebastian sighed deeply, looking a bit tired.
"Well, we caught them before they could reach your room. Dorian and Brandon both had to fight their wolves to get back control but they're fine now, though we're not taking any chances."
Our conversation cut off by a slight snore, making us look down at Zayne. His pink lips were slightly ajar, nose pressed against my throat and his arms slack around my neck.
The poor pup fell asleep while we talked.
Sebastian smiled warmly, shaking his head as he rubbed over his chin. "Side effect from the suppressants and the matings, I'm sure." I agreed with a snort before laughing softly, taking a seat beside Sebastian when Wyatt called out.
"Food will be ready in a few but I'll bring it over to you guys."
"Good." A soft smile tugged at my lips as I pushed Zayne's hair out of his face, inhaling his scent. "That means Zayne can rest for a bit longer." A low chuckle resounded through the room, making me look up as Alpha Lee walked over, glancing at the unconscious Omega in my arms.
He was smiling softly, wolf relaxing now that the danger had passed. We were still investigating how Anton had got information on where Zayne was, but we had the largest culprits captured, waiting for execution.
And I still had a feeling that it was Zayne's mom behind the information leak. An unknown she-wolf joining the ranks of Pack Law, only to disappear so suddenly? She had offered a false name and background, even went as far as stealing someone's identity to get access to Pack Law resources.
Now that she had what she came for, she disappeared again without a trace. My head popped up as I heard a few grows coming from outside, Alpha Lee instantly straightening up as the door opened.
"It appears we have a visitor."
I nodded, turning slightly so Zayne was more covered. "An unannounced visitor." Voices resounded from outside but they didn't sound aggressive at all. "But it seems not an unknown one."
The doors opened and Terrance walked in, shaking his head slightly with a bemused smirk. "Hey Boss, you never guess what the cat dragged in." He joked, laughing when a large wolf snarled softly as it entered.
Alpha Lee's eyes widened in shock, walking closer to the wolf as it huffed, looking up with a slight wag to the tail, whining when Lee gently petted the massive wolf. "Damn Quinton, where have you been all this time?"
I chocked on my spit, startled. Quinton's story was well known throughout the pack; Alpha Lee's brother who had chosen a Nomadic life instead of pack life, something that was very hard to do for any wolf.
Quinton shifted, letting out a startled laugh when Alpha Lee jerked him up in his arms. "Oh, I missed you too little brother. Sorry for being so illusive all this time. Hmm? Oh, thanks" His metal grey eyes sparked as Terrance tossed him a pair of pants while Lee chuckled slightly.
The man was well build, several scars running over his chest from a tough life as a Nomadic wolf. Usually packs recognized them as Rogues first before realizing they were just lone wolves, often traveling in the companionship of their mate, siblings or pups.
As soon as Quinton was dressed, he was pulled back in a hug of brotherly affection, chuckles raising from the brothers as their wolves whined, happy with the contact between long lost siblings.
"Damn its good to see you. You've gotten old." Lee said jokingly as he held out a strand of greying hair before the older wolf shook his head slightly.
"Easy, its gonna happen to you too." Quinton laughed, jabbing Lee in the ribs before he smiled. " I found my mate Lee. I found her, after all these years." He chocked on happy tears while Lee loudly congratulated him as well as the rest of us. Quinton nodded, rubbing at his eye to hide the tear there.
"That's great Quinton. Where is she?" Quinton scoffed at Lee's question, rolling his eyes. "She's too nervous to look me in the eye at the moment. I'm pissed cause she's been lying in my face for the past few years."
I blinked, shocked before rubbing over Zayne's back as he moved slightly. Lying to your mate? For what reason? It was almost impossible to lie to your loved one, unless it was to protect them from a horrible truth.
Zayne yawned slightly, whining as he rubbed his eye and slowly sat up. It drew Quinton's attention as he looked over, curious. Lee was just asking him the question everyone was wanting to ask.
"What did she lie about then?"
Quinton didn't react at first, shaking his head slightly as he observed Zayne, a soft whine slipping from his lips. At the sound, Zayne perked up slightly, blinking at the older man and sniffing the air before his wolf let out a little yip.
Slowly, as if stuck in a daze, Quinton shook his head and swallowed heavily before replying in a thick voice. "She neglected to inform me that the night we mated produced pups. Pups she left behind to live with me."
Shock rendered me speechless as the wolf approached slowly, unable to keep his eyes from Zayne as he slowly kneeled in front of the Omega. I held my mate closely, observing how Zayne seemed nervous, yet his wolf was squirming on the inside, recognizing the man while Zayne didn't know him.
"One of those pups has found his home right here in your pack, it seems." Quinton revealed, causing Zayne's jaw to slack slightly as he stared at the man... at his own father it seemed.
---Zayne's POV---
I had woken up to an unknown scent tickling my nose and a deep, heavy voice rumbling through the air. It had awoken my wolf, which had been very eager to see the owner of said voice.
When I had opened yawned and sat up, I heard a soft whine which pulled at my heart. Blinking up, I saw a stranger watching me curiously, a stranger that revealed himself to be... my father.
I wanted to shake my head, deny the fact that somehow, someway, my father has finally found me. But why now? Wasn't he glad he got rid of me in the first place? I mean, my mother left me in Anton's claws, surely my father had agreed to that fact?
A confused whine left my lips when he crouched in front of us, making me press back against Marcus' chest. I was confused, conflicted between letting my wolf out to finally meet our father, and fleeing back to our room.
Shivering in fear, I whined and buried my face in Marcus' throat, who rubbed over my back soothingly. Lee sighed sadly while walking over, and as I glanced his way I felt bad when I saw the man's face twist in a pained and horrified expression.
He felt sad...why?
He didn't want me... why would he feel sad?
Marcus cleared his throat softly, making me look up at him. "It seems your mother never told your father about you... He didn't know you were left with that... that pack." My eyes widened as I glanced back at the man while Lee grabbed his shoulder, motioning towards his office.
He didn't know?
So... he did want me? Is that why he's here?
I was so confused about everything going on, rubbing at my temples when I felt my head throb softly. Marcus' fingers rubbed soothingly over my back and up to my head before replacing my own fingers.
"Shhh Zayne, it'll be all right. You'll see." He murmured soothingly as I watched the man, Quinton slowly push on his feet, staring down at me.
"I have a lot of years to make up for pup, but I'll try my hardest. Just... Just give me a chance...okay?" He spoke softly, voice rough from restraining tears, tears that were threatening to overflow any second.
I glanced up in those metal grey eyes and swallowed, squeezing Marcus' arms as I nodded slowly. "Y-you want me?"
Quinton's eyes glowed, his wolf pushing closer as he quickly sank back on his knees, hand reaching out to brush over my knee, squeezing it reassuringly. "I always wanted you pup. If I had known, I would've never allowed my mate to leave any of you behind. I would've challenged the Alpha and fought for you."
I swallowed again, averting my eyes before letting a wobbly smile appear on my lips. It was answered by a brilliant one from Quinton before the man stood up under Alpha Lee's urging.
"Come on brother. It seems we need to talk about a lot of things."
