Chapter 45.

"Harry, don't forget that I'm picking Mill's up after school!" Faith shouts through to me from her position at the front counter.

After our heated kissing session before, we heard the door bells chime signalling someone had entered the shop, and obviously meant that Faith had to get back to work.

Therefore, I've decided to stay out of view and help her from the back whilst she works; I'm currently standing with the flowery watering can in my hand as I sprinkle the water over the parched seedlings. I carry some of the plants through to the front of the shop every now and then, and if she calls me I immediately run to her aid.

I feel so much happier after this morning. Like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I can now concentrate on the important things in my life; like starting my own family with Faith, and watching Millie grow up into an incredible young woman, or going even further with the lads in our career and going to limits we could never even imagine.

I feel like at this moment in my life, nothing can go wrong. And all of this has made me realise how important everyone in my life is, and how much I value each and every one of them.

"I won't babe!" I shout back to her, being careful not to drown the little seedlings. "Hey Faith!" I call to her, an idea popping into my head.

After a few mumbles and an audible 'see you next week' to a regular customer, she waltzes through the door and pecks my cheek, "yes dear?" She smiles teasingly.

"What are Millie's favourite flowers?" I ask her inquisitively, pondering a thought in my head as my eyes focus on the task at hand, making sure I don't miss out any flower pots.

"She loves most flowers really, but I suppose daisies are one of her favourites. Why?" She tells me with a smile, obviously just not wanting to recite the long list of Millie's favourite flowers.

"Well, I was just thinking that we could take a bunch and give them to her when we pick her up." I offer, trying to hide the slight blush from my cheeks as she smiles at me widely due to my somewhat 'cute' - as she would call it - gesture.

"That's a wonderful idea Harry, she'd love that." Faith smiles happily, wrapping her arms around my waist and then watches me water the plants.

"Why thank you." I smile and put down the watering can, the sun bouncing off my face as I swivel in her arms and face her properly; I lean my head down and place a tender kiss to her succulent lips, they taste of cherries due to her new lip balm and look plumper and fuller after our chaste kiss.

The door bells chime again and we both groan, not really wanting to leave each other; "I have to go." She tells me reluctantly, leaving a small kiss to my lips as she starts to pull away from me, but I don't let her.

"I'll come with you." I smile, leaving another kiss to her lips and then following behind her, a wide grin on her face, uncontainable as she clutches tightly onto my hand and lightly tugs me with her.

"Oh hello Mr Gates!" Faith smiles at the elderly man stood glancing interestingly at the display of flowers around the room. Him looking particularly fond of a small bouquet of red roses, he must be a regular if Faith knows his name.

"Good afternoon Faith! No Millie today?" He asks inquisitively, his voice wavering due to his old age but his smile still as bright as ever.

"I dropped her off at school this morning. How are you lately?" She asks, standing pristine behind the till as she converses, looking effortless as always. I can't help but stare at her, just watching how she moves and talks in absolute perfection.

"I'm very well, just picking up the usual for Mrs Gate." He tells us with a small smile. "And who is this young man?" He grins at Faith expectantly, motioning to me.

"This is my boyfriend Harry." She giggles proudly whilst her hand grazes my arm and her sparkling green eyes meet mine only briefly.

"Ah, is this the lucky young man you told me about a while ago? The one that you had dinner with?" He asks her again, handing over the correct change for his purchase, knowing the amount off by heart.

Faith blushes bashfully as she places the change into the till, her smile never fading and her cheeks becoming rosier than usual as she's been rumbled, "yes it is." She chuckles.

"Well young man," Mr Gate turns to me, holding his hand out which I gladly shake, "you look after her, take care of her, she's absolutely charming and something incredibly special." He tells me, shaking my hand firmly and gracefully.

"I will sir, don't worry. I know how incredible she is, she means a lot to me." My dimples appear involuntarily as I smile and I pat him on the back.

"Good to hear! Well thank you Faith, I'll see you next week. It was lovely meeting you Harry." He smiles as he begins to leave.

"See you next week Mr Gate!" Faith smiles and gives him a small wave.

"You too sir!" My voice calls as he leaves the shop. I hear a small sigh from beside me and notice Faith gazing admirably out the door, "what's up?"

"I hope we have a relationship like Mr Gate and his wife had?" She tells me, a small pout on her lips.

My eyebrows furrow in confusion as she speaks, "Had?"

"Yeah," she glances up at me finally, taking me into the back room and sitting down on the small couch next to me, ready to explain. "Mr and Mrs Gate were married for forty-seven years; and every week on a Friday, he would come into this shop and buy a bouquet of red roses for her. And even though she passed away three years ago, he still does it, because he says their love is eternal and therefore he doesn't see a reason to stop." She tells me in adoration, hoping for a fairy tale like that.

"I love you." I whisper as I admire her, because it's true, and hearing that story makes me want something like that too; something eternal, that we do because we love each other and not because we're supposed to.

"And I love you." She whispers back, placing a kiss to my lips as she stands up. "Right, we need to go and pick up Mill's." Faith reminds me, breaking our silence.

"Okay, I'll get the daisies and you lock up." We arrange and rush to the individual jobs, I find a handful of daisies in the corner and clutch them closely to my chest, the plastic wrapped around them decorated with tiny sprinkle of silver; perfect for the energetic little girl.

"Come on then." Faith smiles and pulls me out of the front door, locking it securely behind the both of us, then venturing to her car and getting in. "How did you get to the shop in the first place? I didn't see your car anywhere?" She questions me, igniting the car to life and driving in the direction of Millie's school.

"I ran." I informed her bluntly, my mind too occupied with smelling the small bundle of daisies in my hand.

"You ran?!" She questions in disbelief, I laugh at her surprised tone, as if she doesn't believe I could run that far.

"Yeah, I really wanted to tell you the news. I couldn't wait any longer." I tell her with a chuckle. She doesn't answer me back, the drive being left in a comfortable silence as we journey even closer to the school, it's red tiled roof coming into view as we then park in the car park and get out to wait for the little ray of sunshine that is our Millie Moo.

"There she is!" Faith smiles and walks up to her.

I hold the small bunch of flowers behind my back. "Mill's are you okay?" Faith asks as we draw closer to the little girl, her face red and puffy, her cheeks flushed a bright pink colour and her eyes bloodshot and raw from her incessant crying.

"No." She blubbers, new tears falling like waterfalls; Faith crouches to Millie's height and opens her arms widely, waiting for the little girl to engulf her in a hug.

"What's wrong baby girl?" I ask, crouching down also, using my free hand to stroke a stray strand of shiny brown hair out of her face. Her hair sticks to her face due to the running tears, small sobs leaving her mouth.

"Tom Roberts was being really mean to me!" She cries, her face contorting as she remembers the memory of the little boys actions.

"Aww baby. You know, boys are only mean to the girls they really like. It means he has a crush on you!" Faith tells her, attempting to make her feel better and heal her broken heart.

"But Harry is never mean to you." Millie argues, her glazed over blue eyes looking at Faith for an answer.

"But Harry is a grown up sweetie." Faith attempts to explain; Mill's though, being the stubborn child she is, refuses to listen. So, Faith turns to me, and by the expression on her face she begs for my assistance.

"Faith," I call her, getting both of the girls' attention, "you smell really bad!" I tell her in a failed attempt to be mean.

She simply rolls her eyes with a smile, chuckling as Millie laughs hardly, her shoulders bouncing as she giggles at my awful joke. But I don't care if it was awful, because it made her laugh, a small and cute shriek of laughter.

"That was funny." She chuckles to us, myself and Faith standing up properly as Millie clings onto Faith's neck, her legs wrapped around her torso as she rests on her adoptive mothers hip.

"Hey Millie Moo, Harry has a present for you." Faith says, her smile large now as she speaks with complete and utter content.

I lift my arm and hold up the small bunch of flowers in front of her face, her now dazzling blue eyes bursting with colour as she notices the daisies. Millie gasps dramatically and reaches out for them, smelling them incessantly, "THANK YOU HARRY!!" She screams happily.

"You're very welcome baby girl." I leave a loving kiss on her temple, my smile wide as I watch my two girls giggle with each other. They laugh and smile, their pearly white teeth on full show as they giggle; their eyes sparkling as they talk to each other, occasionally glancing over at me and including me in their conversation.

I can't help but observe them, because they're so effortlessly perfect, they don't even know how incredible they are; how much I envy their courage and strength in any situation; how they are beautiful inside and out without even trying.

I remember Faith asking me: 'out of all of the girls in the world, why me?' And at the time, I told her that I didn't know.

But I did, I've always known.

I didn't choose Faith. In all honesty I didn't really have any control over what I was feeling, I just went with my instinct; and looking back on it, I'm glad I did. I fell infatuated with her the moment that she walked through the back door of the flower shop, the moment that our eyes met and she tried to hide her blush, hoping that I wouldn't notice, but I did.

Not only is she stunningly beautiful but she made me realise what I could have had and what I was missing out on all that time. It was always going to be Faith, because she always put everyone before herself, and she stayed strong no matter what the situation was. She makes me proud and I hope I make her proud. I couldn't have asked for a better person to spend the rest of my life loving, and if I'm being completely truthful, I don't really want anyone else.

And Mill's, the first time I met her I immediately fell in love with her; not only because she is beautiful, or fearless, or has an incredible personality, but because of her heart and how she will gladly open it for anyone; and because no matter how much she has been through, she always seems to find the positives in things. And how even when I had little hope, she was the strength I needed and she kept me going. I'd be nothing if it weren't for her, and I'm proud to call her my little girl.

Together they are the two people that have controlled my heart, and I will go to the end of the earth to make them happy, I would do anything for them. Because they're my family, and I'm theirs.

They truly are one of a kind, and I'm not going waste anymore time worrying about things that don't matter.

These two girls have made me live and I am eternally grateful to them.

They are my life.

My love.

And my family.
