Chapter 10.
Chapter 10:
I felt groggy this morning. After Niall dropped me off last night I crawled into bed and cried myself to sleep; My mind replaying the moment when Harry sat there doing nothing. Just letting it all happen. And it broke my heart.
Harry has since sent me a number of messages and tried to call me on a few occasions, but I don't feel like answering. He's been calling me all morning, from when I got up to when I got into work. I glanced at the time, 4:47pm, only thirteen more minutes before closing time. I was working the afternoon shift today because Katie had to take Millie to dance class at half 4.
I walked into the greenhouse and filled up the watering can, walking over to the seeds Millie had planted and dribbled the cold water over them, quenching their thirst. I heard the familiar ring of the door bells and put down the watering can, heading into the front to greet my customer. I walked through the door, casually brushing off crumbs of soil that I had on my apron before I looked up at the person; my friendly smile dropped noticing who it was, my eyebrows furrowing and my eyes looking to the floor. "Hey." he whispered guiltily, making my heart wrench.
"What are you doing here Harry?" I questioned him, not able to look into his green eyes.
"You haven't been answering my calls or texts. I wanted to see if you were okay." he reasoned, taking shaky breaths.
"I'm fine." I replied bluntly, brushing past him and to the display table in the centre of the shop.
"Please talk to me." he pleaded following closely being me, his hand resting ghostly on the small of my back as I felt his toned chest lean gently on my shoulder and him tower above me.
"I don't want to." I whispered nervously.
"I'm sorry about what she said to you, she shou-"
"You don't get it Harry," I interrupted, slowly turning around, watching his chest rise and fall in front of me, "It's not what she said that hurt me Harry, its knowing that you sat there and let it all happen." I explained to him, my eyes glazed with tears as I finally looked into his pure green eyes.
His facial expression softened as he noticed my eager tears, "I'm sorry," he whispered grabbing both of my hands in his, "I'm so sorry." he repeated.
"You broke your promise Harry." I sniffled. He pulled my body into his own and cradled me as my tears fell, along with some of his own. We stood silent for a while, just holding each other and listening to each others breathing; even though I'm upset with Harry, I can't be mad with him for too long, it's like it's impossible, he has some sort of charm over me and I can't control it. My emotions heighten when I'm with him, he makes me happy.
Even now when I should be as mad as I could ever be at him, I can't help but love the feel of his chest beneath my face or his arms wrapped around my frame as he towers above me. I can't help but feel loved and wanted when I'm with him. It's a blessing and a curse. That I feel too much for him. "I promise I'll take care of you, I won't let anything bad happen to you." he whispered into my forehead.
I pulled away from his grasp, missing the warmth of his body with mine, "Harry, we both know you shouldn't make promises that you can't keep." I replied, looking down and wiping my tears away.
I felt his index finger lift my chin up slowly, forcing me to look into his beautiful eyes, "After seeing you like this, it isn't a promise I'm willing to break." he whispered meaningfully, using his thumb to wipe away some dry tears from my face. I nodded slowly accepting his promise, to which he pulled me into his chest again.
"Why me Harry?" I asked looking into his eyes.
"What do you mean?" he answered, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion at my question.
"Out of all the girls in the world," I sighed, "why did you choose me?"
"I don't know Faith." he shrugged, chuckling slightly at my question, "Come on, let me take you home." he untangled himself from our embrace and I locked up the shop, walking with him to his car.
"Can we stop by the cemetary first?" I asked him softly, hoping he would agree.
"We can do anything you'd like." he smiled as he drove into the direction of the cemetary. "So why do you want to go the cemetary?" he asked after a few silent minutes of driving.
"My parents died a year ago today." I whispered, avoiding eye contact with him. He didn't speak, he just grabbed my hand in his and squeezed it slightly, giving me his silent condolences. I looked out of the passenger window and noticed the familiar view of headstones as we turned into the cemetary, I directed Harry to the correct place and go out of the car, grabbing the two white roses I had brought with me.
He came to my side and slithered his hand around my waist, pulling me closer to his body. I blushed slightly as we walked into the direction of my parents.
"Hey mum, hey dad." I spoke sitting down infront of their headstone, I smiled and pointed at Harry, "This is Harry." I informed them.
He smiled and waved, "Hello." he chirped, making me chuckle. I felt his body sit cross-legged next to mine as I continued my one-sided conversation.
"I brought your favourite flowers from the shop," I smiled reading their names over and over again, "I know you loved it when I used to do that." I laughed at the memories, laying them softly on the ground. Harry placed his arm around my shoulder and let me lean my head on his shoulder gently, "The girls are looking after me, and so is Harry... Kind of." I whispered the last bit, recieving a playful nudge from Harry. "I've started playing the piano again," I whispered, "I'm so sorry." as I sniffled Harry embraced me tighter, pulling me to sit on his lap as he rocked me gently. "I miss them so much." I admitted to him as he kissed my temple, soothing me slightly. My stomach erupted in butterflies at his touch and calmed me as he continued to rock me gently.
"I know you do." he replied into my ear, "come on, let me take you home." I nodded and mumbled a small 'I love you' to my parents as Harry carried me to the car and placed me in the passenger seat. The drive to my house was silent. But I didn't mind, it was a comfortable silence.
Harry parked outside my house and ran around the car to open my door for me, I smiled at his gesture and walked towards my front door, Harry following close behind. "Want to come in?" I asked, turning to him as I got out my keys.
"Yeah su-"
"Hey Faith, fancy having a girls nig-" Nicole started before she stopped herself.
"Oh. My. God." Sarah whispered underneath her breath. Both girls stood in shock as me and Harry stared at them.
"Hi." he said simply and waving slightly.
"Wow." Nicole breathed as they both continued to look at us in shock, their jaws dropped.
"Come on in Harry," I smiled at him, opening the door, "You two as well, and be cool!" I whispered the latter and giggled at them. I walked into the living room and saw Harry no-where in sight, "HARRY?!" I shouted wondering where he had disappeared off to.
"IN HERE!" he yelled back, his voice coming from the piano room. The girls followed closely behind me as I walked into the room and saw him sat in on one of the cream couches.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked confusedly. The girls sat down on a couch and watched Harry stand in front of me, taking my hands in his.
He looked at me and smiled, "I want to hear you sing." he answered softly as his beautiful eyes poured into mine almost hypnotising me.
I shook my head and looked to the floor, "Harry I already told you, I don't like to play in front of people. That includes singing too." I reminded him, watching him nod slightly in understanding.
"I know, I remember," he smiled, wrapping my hands around his neck as his slithered around my waist, "but your father didn't teach you how to play the piano for you to just give it up." I furrowed my eyebrows as I thought about his statement, I looked into his eyes and saw them light up, "Don't feel bad for what happened. And whenever you do, just think about this; whenever you play the piano or sing, you're making your father proud. To know that his gift lives on in you, and that you share it with everyone else." he smiled. He kissed my forehead gently, making the tingles return and my smile widen. I walked with him over to the piano stool and sat down, both of us perched on the seat; I let my fingers feel the familiar keys, and decided to play 'To Make You Feel My Love' by Adele.
I began to play the introduction of the song softly, gliding my fingers across the keys as they played the correct notes; my voice joined in and sang the lyrics to the song. My angelic voice filling the room as my trio listened in awe. I could feel Harry's eyes glued on me as we sat next to each other, his green eyes observing every single feature of mine as he allowed my voice and the sound of the piano to take over his senses. He smiled as he watched me, and that's when I realised. I'm singing in front of him. In front of Harry Styles.
As I finished the song, my fingers played the last note and sustained it for effect. I turned my head sidewards and smiled shyly at Harry, noticing the wide grin on his face, wider than I've ever seen before. His dimples piercing his cheeks as he stared into my eyes, "You're incredible." he whispered and leaned his forehead against mine, making me smile and blush uncontrollably. I watched as a single tear fell from his left eye, making me automatically wipe it away. I giggled lovingly at his remark and turned my head to look at the girls after hearing them sniffle.
The girls sat covering their faces in an attempt to hide their tears, after they removed them they chuckled. "Sorry, you're just so amazing!" Sarah commented referring to my playing and singing.
"And you two are just too perfect together!!" Nicole gushed making me blush.
Harry chuckled at Nicole's remark and turned to look at me, "Yes we are." he whispered, only loud enough for me to hear.
