|Third Person's POV|

Manik was freaked out after Gaurav's call. He was least expecting him to call after all those years. He couldn't believe that Gaurav was out there and knew his whereabouts. He had been tracking him throughout those years. But now, the most important matter was that Nandini was kidnapped by Gaurav and he had asked him to come to him if he needed Nandini back safely. Of course, he wanted Nandini back safely because she belonged to him and he belonged to her.

|Manik's POV|

Gaurav's call was the last thing I had expected. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I was shocked, astonished, afraid, angry and what not. This was the first time in many years that I experienced fear. I feared for Nandini. I feared she wouldn't be the same again. I feared she would be broken. I feared she would never want to see me again. I feared she would leave me alone again.

Gaurav had been my college mate. He was the typical bad boy type of a person and he was obsessed with girls. I didn't interact much with him unless the day he proposed Nandini in front of the whole college. Everyone was surprised to see that Gaurav actually had feelings for someone. I got into a fight with him after that whole proposal drama.

We both got hurt badly. All hell broke loose when Nandini told him in front of the whole college that she loved only me and no one else. I was the happiest man then. Years later, I found out that Gaurav's father was actually one of my father's friends. They had decided to open a company. Both of them were supposed to invest equally in it and they did so. But once the company started functioning, Gaurav's father stopped working in the company. He would just stay at home, relaxing while my father would do all the work.

I remembered how hard my father had to work. He would work day and night without any sleep and he single-handedly built the company from scratch.

My father wasn't happy with Gaurav's father, so he took a decision. He paid back all the money Gaurav's father spent and erased his name from the company. Gaurav's father had least expected that he would be thrown out of his own company. My father became the Managing Director of the company and renamed it as Malhotra Enterprises.

Soon we became a multinational company that dealt with a wide range of products.

Gaurav and his father tried several times to bring our company down and at one time, they were almost successful but we overpowered them. Our company was vast and they could do nothing. They were our rivals. They also built their own company but it was shut down after the police found out that some illegal works had been going on.

Just as I finished my college, my father named me the CEO of Malhotra Enterprises. He died shortly after that. Years of hard work and stress had worn him out and that was the cause of his death.

And now, after all these years, Gaurav was back. I suppose some enemies don't leave you so easily. They remain enemies forever.

I got a message from the same number I had got the call. It showed the location and I was supposed to go there. I reminded myself not to inform anyone about it. I had to do it alone, for Nandini. I didn't know what he wanted from me now, after all those years but at that time, all I could focus on was Nandini.

I drove my car towards the given location. It was on the outskirts of the city and I had to go through the forest. After almost an hour, I reached the location. I stepped out of my car and looked around the area. A huge abandoned building stood before me. It was completely dilapidated and incomplete.

Trees had grown all around the building and it was impossible to spot the building from twenty metres away. The place was dark and had an eerie silence to it. The full moon was shining above, which was the only source of light. I slowly took steps towards the entrance of the building which was just a large opening in the front. I heard a twig break under my foot and flinched. I prayed that there wouldn't be any wild animals around.

I entered the building. It was dark. I couldn't see anything in front of me, so I took out my mobile phone and switched on the flashlight. I looked around the place and all I saw was bricks. There were bricks all over the place. The building had thirteen floors and I was supposed to go to the  tenth floor. There were no elevators obviously. I had to take the stairs.

I spotted the staircase at a distance and walked on it. It took me more than ten minutes to reach the tenth floor. With each advancing step towards the destination, my heart was beating more violently. I held my breath as I reached the tenth floor.

At the other end of the floor, I saw a door. I heard voices of someone speaking. I knew at that moment that Nandini was in that room. And Gaurav too. I slowly walked towards the door, not making any sound as I walked. The place was cold and my heart felt cold too, in spite of the fact that it was beating fiercely.

I reached the door. It was made of wood and it had a knob. I slowly placed my palm on the knob. It was cold. I twisted it slowly and pushed open the door. I was welcomed by a small brightness. I looked around the room and didn't find anyone at first. But when I looked around again, I saw a figure sitting in the corner of the room. There she was, my Nandini. Her eyes were half open and her hands and legs were tied. A piece of cloth was wrapped around her mouth and her hair was in a bad state. Tears welled up in my eyes as I saw her in that state.

I looked at the other corner of the room from where the light was coming. I saw someone coming towards me. And there he was, Gaurav. He hadn't changed a bit. He had the same smirk he always had. I saw him and my knees started feeling weak suddenly but I had to be strong. Strong for Nandini.

'Long time, partner.' Gaurav said as he placed his hand on my shoulder.
