The two men were getting ready to go out. Remus had mentioned a restaurant he had been wanting to try, and Sirius promised to treat him. Sirius was finishing up in the bathroom when Remus's door opened.

"Lily, I didn't know you were coming. I was about to leave-"

"Remus, I'm losing my mind. I have been hearing all about Black's secret boyfriend for a week now, can you believe it? It's been all James can talk about. He's not even there yet he's somehow ruining my dates! Do you believe James suggested we just show up at his location to find out who it is?"

"That's insane actually, but doesn't surprise me when he constantly checks your location and just shows up wherever you are. I'm surprised he hasn't shown up here actually."

"I told you I would speak with him about boundaries."

"Great. Did you need something though? I uh-"

Remus stopped talking as Sirius knocked something over in the bathroom.

"Sorry Moons!"

"Oh my God is he here?!"

"Yes, so you need to leave," Remus hissed, ushering her towards the door.

"I think I'd like to stay actually."

"Lily, this is not the time."

"Okay fine, fine I'm leaving."

They were so close, but as Remus was closing the door behind Lily, she turned around to say goodbye and shoved her way back inside.

"No fucking way."

"What?"

"Um, hello Evans?," Sirius greeted carefully, and Remus spun around to face him.

"Remus John Lupin, you have 30 seconds to explain before I commit a murder."

"Sirius is my boyfriend."

She looked between the two and began to laugh hysterically. Sirius cautiously moved to stand next to Remus, angling his body as if to shield Remus from the brunt of a blow.

"That's funny, Remus. I can't believe you would invite him over here for a joke. You almost had me."

"Lils, I'm not joking. Sirius is my boyfriend. We've been dating for a few weeks now."

"When's his birthday?," Lily questioned, challenging Sirius.

"10th of March. Favorite color is green. Loves to read. Hates coffee. Favorite flower is sunflowers. Prefers to cook his own meals as opposed to getting takeaway," Sirius listed, counting everything he had learned about Remus off on his fingers.

Remus slid an arm protectively around Sirius, pulling him into his side, as Sirius continued to list trivial things about Remus, half of which Remus didn't even remember mentioning.

"I didn't realize you picked up on all of that."

"You're important to me, so I pay attention," Sirius replied with a shrug.

"I hate when you brush things off like that. This means a lot to me," Remus corrected, kissing Sirius gently.

"You're not joking. Remus, if this is to get back at me for dating James-"

"You will not insult Sirius and I in my own home," Remus said lowly. "Newsflash, not everything revolves around you and James Potter. I met Sirius at the bar, not knowing he was your boyfriend's brother, at your insistence that I go out and meet someone new. Whatever you think about him, you're wrong, and I will not have you speaking about him in a negative manner. I care for him greatly, and I haven't been this happy in years."

"Remus-"

"We're not having this conversation now, Sirius and I are running late for our dinner reservation. I'll take your key and you can be on your way if this is how you want to behave. When we can have a productive conversation, you'll earn your key back."

Both men watched as countless emotions flashed across Lily's face as she turned over her key.

"I hope you're happy Black. Does James know?"

"No, not yet."

"I won't be the one to tell him, but you better tell him soon."

"I will, on our terms," Sirius replied evenly. "I would like to let the record show that I did warn you that you'd love my boyfriend."

Remus snorted as Lily flipped Sirius off and closed the door behind her.

"Well, that went better than expected," Remus remarked, pulling Sirius into his chest.

"I'm sorry."

"What on earth are you sorry for my sweet boy?," Remus asked, frowning as he pulled back to caress Sirius's face.

"She's upset with you."

"And she'll get over it. The hypocrisy and double standards are real. If I haven't made it extremely clear by now, I'm quite taken with you Sirius. I really see us going somewhere. I've never felt this comfortable with a partner before, even after months of dating. You make me feel seen, heard, and wanted. I love spending my time with you."

"You make me feel like I'm the perfect size. Everyone has always chastised me for being too loud, for taking up too much space, but not you. You let me shine Moons."

"You deserve to shine, cariad."

"So do you mon trésor."

They embraced each other, kissing sweetly.

"I believe I promised you a dinner date Moons."

Dinner came and went, with things returning back to relative normalcy. Sirius stayed the night, and Remus noticed he was more quiet than usual.

"Alright cariad?," Remus asked while they were laying in bed that night, his fingers carding through Sirius's hair.

"What does it mean? It's Welsh right?"

"It's a term of endearment. It's like love or darling."

"I like it. Mon trésor, my treasure. Mon cœur, my heart. Mon amour, my love."

"I'll be your everything. Fy seren, my star."

"Ma lune, my moon."

"Stop out languaging me before I start speaking Latin," Remus teased, burying his face in Sirius's neck.

"Do you like my French?"

"Of course I like your French. They say it's the language of love."

"I'll speak more French to you then."

After a moment's pause, Sirius looked up at Remus.

"Do you think everything will be okay Remus?"

"I know that it will be Sirius. You're too special for me to let you go. Whatever Lily has against you and whatever issues there are between James and I will be resolved. Tensions are high right now because she didn't have time to prepare herself to see you, and James doesn't know so she can't talk to him about it. I'm sure she already regrets the way that she acted, but she'll give me time to cool off before we talk again. I think right now she's trying to come to terms that my boyfriend and what she perceives you as being are the same person."

"Obviously not everyone likes me and they don't have to, but has she said anything specific? Did I personally offend her?"

"There has to be more than what she's telling me. I don't believe she's this upset because you're loud sometimes. It will be okay, we'll get it figured out."

"I believe you. It's just, whenever I get something nice, I'm always waiting for it to be taken away from me. You're the nicest thing that I've got, and I don't want to lose you."

"You won't lose me, and I won't lose you. I'll just look for the brightest star in the sky to find my way back to you."

"I'll look for the moon."

The next morning, Remus handed Sirius a small box.

"If you're proposing already my answer is yes."

"Not quite," Remus replied with a quiet laugh.

"A key? Is this..."

"It's not Lily's key, I had this made just for you. See, it has a print of the full moon on it. Obviously we can't spend all of our time together, but I do really enjoy when you spend the night. If you're ever busy or just want to stop by, you can. I was going to wait to give it to you but it felt fitting. There's no pressure but-"

Sirius shut Remus up by straddling his waist and kissing him brutally.

"No more talking."

"Yes cariad. You going to take the lead?"

"I think I will."

Remus quite liked not being the one having to make all of the decisions for once.

"We should do that more often."

"You like being bossed around Moons?," Sirius teased, brushing his fingers over the mark he left on Remus's neck.

"Only if it's you doing it. It's nice to be taken care of on occasion. I like taking care of you the most though."

"I wish I would have met you earlier Remus."

"I think I found you at the time that I needed you, Sirius."

"See? You are such a sweetheart. My lovely lune."

"Fy seren."

"How do you say my moon in Welsh?"

"Fy lleuad. Star is étoile in French right?"

"Ooh Moons talk French to me," Sirius teased.

"I'll leave that to you. It's beautiful when you speak it."

"I didn't, for a long time. My home life wasn't the best and being forced to learn it made me resent the language. I'm trying to embrace it again."

"I'll make French my fourth language then."

"Shall you teach me Latin or Welsh?"

"Let's start with some basic Welsh and move on to Latin," Remus replied with a laugh. "Do you have plans tomorrow?"

"I have work, and then I might just come and let myself into my boyfriend's apartment for dinner. I have a key you know."

"He would have been stupid not to give you one."

"I'll have one made for you, I promise. I get scared that I move too quickly in relationships. I've been told that actually, so I try to, not necessarily make myself smaller, but... I guess hold myself back?"

"You don't have to do that with me. I like to know what you're thinking, especially if it's about me."

"If it's too much, you'll tell me?"

"I promise. You'll tell me if I'm not enough?"

Sirius snorted at that and buried his face in Remus's neck, his favorite spot.

"You do more for me than my longest relationship ever did. I don't think time necessarily matters, it's really just the effort put in. And the communication, that's really big for me. I can't guess what you're thinking."

"I agree. When we eventually fight because let's face it no one is perfect, I refuse to let either of us go to bed mad."

"I like that plan," Sirius agreed, snuggling closer to Remus.

"Get some sleep now cariad, it's time for your next cooking lesson in the morning."

"Okay mon trésor, goodnight."

"Goodnight."
