XXVI. TWENTY SIX

I never erase a photo once
I take it. That's my policy.
No matter what kind of photo it
is, the moment captured in it
only exists at that time.

Seeing Kirumi preparing everyone's breakfast really did put a smile on my face... Her eyes were filled with emotion. If you were lucky to catch a glance, they told a story. I really did hope that she's not thinking about her nation again.

The maid's face sparkled when she finally noticed I'd arrived. "Good morning, Y/N. I've prepared breakfast for you today... Maybe afterwards you could help me clean up again?"

"Of course, and thank you!" I picked up a spork and carefully dug into the plate in front of me. The pancakes melted in my mouth. I quickly grabbed the cup of OJ next to me in the glass cup and chugged a little of it down.. 'This arrangement of food looks kinda childish, but i don't care really.'

"Wow, Y/N, it's like you haven't eaten in three days!" Kokichi giggled as he sat down next to me. On his plate were plain rice mixed in with either ikura or uni. I couldn't tell, to be honest.

"I'm just hungry." I mumbled and put another piece of pancake in my mouth.

"We should hang out after this, maybe we can play a game I've created?"

"What kind of game?" I asked him.

"Mmm, truth or dare?" I looked at the tiny man with confusion. "It can be true or dare with some games. If you win a game, you get an honest answer out of me. If I win, you answer me things you know about this game."

Suddenly his eyes turned from sweet to serious. His glare felt like they could tear up my insides with a single flick of the wrist. Some crumpled copy of a smile crossed my face. "I'm not very good at games, but... maybe i could give it a shot."

"Sounds like a date!" He quickly finished up his plate of rice, shoving so much rice into his face his cheeks puffed up like a sqirl. He leaped out of his seat and left his plate on the table for us to clean.

"It's not a date.." I mumbled some more. I had some time before another death took place here... I needed to make plans with korekiyo and Angie.

"Sounds like you've kept yourself busy here.." Rantaro flashed a smile in my direction.

"It's a handful.." I sighed. I stood up and collected the abandoned plate kokichi left and made my way to the kitchen. Dropping the plates in the sink; i rushed back to collect the others as well. Shuffling back and forth I was able to collect all the dishes in around five minutes.

I was elbows deep in the sink scrubbing the dirty plates under the hot water. Kirumi hummed songs from memory and we finished up the job relatively quickly. Bidding the silver haired female goodbye I rushed to find Kokichi.

My legs pounded on the concrete and grassy floor. The sound of my boots echoing off the walls. The silent hallway with occasional peers stood watching me rush past them. My feet halted to a stop when I ran into the ultimate Assassin.

I knocked into her; causing the Assassin to stumble backwards a little while I flung backwards on the floor. I rolled a little before coming up in a sitting position. My legs spiraled in front of me. I looked up at the girl with wide eyes.

"Are you okay?" She said after a long pause. She bends downs and extends her arm, emotionless.

I took her hand and she pulled me up. Rubbing my bottom I answered her, "Yeah, I should've watched where I was going."

"Yeah, you should." The conversation led to a dead end again. Our hands still clasped.

"Hey maki, you wouldn't happen to know where Kokichi is right?" I asked her.

"Do I look like that little troll keeper?" She tightened her grip around my hand and I winced with pain. "I would be the last person on earth to know what he's doing."

      "M-Maki! I, I get it...please let go of my hand!" I cried.

She swiftly let go and apologized, "I saw him last in the garden...He might have moved but that's your best option if you want to find him."

"Thanks!" I rushed off to the garden and soon enough there was kokichi. Lolied in the grass picking at it. I ran up to him and yelled to catch his attention.

"Y/N! I'm guessing you're ready to play!" He grinned. "I was hoping we can play outside today. Maybe later we can play inside..."

"What game are we going to play?" I asked and made some room for myself to sit down next to him.

"You have some pencils and paper right?"

"What journalist wouldn't have those supplies?"

"Great!" He extended his hand. "We can play Dots and Boxes!"

I fished in my bag for the paper and handed it to him. He took my pen and made nine dots on the paper with the black in. I pulled out a blue pen and watched as he made the first line at the top right.

"It's smaller so we can finish quicker right?" I asked.

"Correct, i hope you don't mind me taking the first box." He grinned. I bit my lip and shakily lowered the pen to make another line. Line after line, one box was made.

      "Crap.."

    "Be careful, Y/N! I already have a point~"

I made another line, but either way I was fucked. He had already snagged all the good spots and no matter where i placed my next line he could easily make another box. Either way i've lost the first round...

"Good job, kokichi. Now you can ask one question." I hastily threw the pen on the paper in frustration.

The small man face twisted with confusion. We sat in silence for a while before he looked at me, "How much do you know about this game and everyone?"

"I know everything, if that makes sense somehow? I know all of your backgrounds and things you like and dislike." I paused. Kokichi nodded before making nine new squares. "Do i go first this time?"

"Dont think so, i won the last round so i go first!" He made a line in the middle of board this time. I dragged my pen across the paper to connect It. One line, two line, three line, and a box. Another line, another box. I connected the final line and made it 1:3 "Aww, looks like you won! Ask me a question, any question!"

This is my chance to ask him. I've had a therory, "Why do you want to be seen as the villain character?"

"I never wanted to be the Villan character." He paused. "I said the role of the villain is perfect for myself. You guys treated me as one."

"We don't treat you like the villain..."

"You don't? You don't remeber when Tenko called me selfish for calling out Kaede in the Death Road of Despair? I never said the the killing game was our only option to get out of this game, you all assumed and went off that information." He argued. "I know how to quit for our own sake, Kaede didn't."

We sat in silence for what seemed like forever. I picked at my nails before starting a new game. I made a new game.

"Are you sure that you want to continue?" I asked hesitantly.

"Of course! Nishishi! How about one more round?" He laughed. Agreeing, I marked the first line again. We played for a while before kokichi made the final line. "Looks like i won again!"

I asked him while packing up, "What's your question?"

     "Are you the mastermind?"

'Mastermind? Why would he think that I would be the mastermind behind the killing game?'

      "No."

"Nishishi! Thank you for your time! See you later!" He sprung up from the ground at lightning speed and ran inside. 'What an interesting character...'
