Secrets unraveled faster than the truth could be spoken. A singular tug at one loose end was all it took; the once-complicated web of lies and deceit become nothing more than a frayed thread, meaningless and lost within the world of truths.

Whitney's truth was this: Born to be used, she knew nothing but a joyless and heartless existence. Her mother was a woman of honeyed words and cold, empty eyes. Her father wasn't any better, a man with hate-brimmed eyes tainted with an angry hunger for power. And power she was. Running away was her only option. After claiming the first life, and then the second, and the third; she couldn't take it anymore. Despite her young age, the weight of every soul she had taken pressed heavily on her shoulders— shattering her own piece by piece.

With every odd against her, she ran with nothing but the clothes clinging to her back and the hum of power that raged through her veins, an electrifying melody that kept urging her forward. As her parents' empire collapsed around them, one brick at a time, Whitney seized the opportunity and never looked back.

A year into her escape, however, she was found—starved and weak, her body no longer able to carry her forward. She had accepted her fate—this was it, wasn't it? She'd been found by her parents, she'd be taken back to that cold and desolate box she'd been shoved into, the box that suffocated her spirit and made her into the monster she had run away from. But it wasn't her parents who had found her. No, the ones who came to her rescue were the antithesis of the rigid, loveless gaze of those who had raised her.

Whitney had a new truth; In their world, what was love in the face of power? Nothing. It was nothing. But in her world, the world she had bled for, there was love and there was light— a warmth she had never known before. People, despite their every flaw, could be good and they were. He was good.

With a new mentor and a purpose beyond anything she could imagine, Whitney thrived in a home filled with tenderness and love while dedicating her life to combating crime in Star City alongside Black Canary and, on occasion, Green Arrow.

Whitney finally knew her truth. Or so she thought.

i. welcome welcome (back) to the revamped version of  one more hour! we're starting the year the year off strong hehe. happy new years friends and i hope this year treats you kindly <33 this fic has been a thing since late september and has gone through three (?) revamps since then. this is the final version tho fr. this fic holds such a big place in my heart, i absolutely adore winnie and wally. im so so excited to write them and hopefully do them justice. winnie is a very special character, her arc and the way she operates is a lot different than my other ocs. it makes very interesting character development through the story. with that being said, i hope you guys enjoy reading her as much as i enjoy writing her!
