Christmas came, but you had gone
Just after the white came to blanket my lawn.
I gazed at the imprints of your final farewell
The snow itself the tale could tell.
I made my way back to the lonely house;
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
But looking back, I finally see
A pair of white footprints still follows me.
