• The Sea, Or You? •

Is it the fine line of revival
Dividing the sky and sea?
Or is it the ever-changing tide
Separating you from me?

I've felt the waters rage
My heart's in over my head...
I've felt the peaceful lapping
At the sand between my toes.

Is it the winds that carry your voice
Across those waves somehow?
Or is it only my own conscience
Refusing to release you from my grip?

I've tasted the bitterness of the ocean
Refusing to open my lips again...
I've tasted the fresh river springs,
But they all flow into the sea.

Is it the seashells under my footprints,
Beauty poking me in pain?
Or is it the memory of your gaze
Barely leaving me to breathe?

I've dug holes on the shore to get to you
But it just keeps caving in...
I've built castles in the sand
And seen then tumble down again.

Is it merely the sea
Pursuing me?
Or is it your own heart
Reaching back for me?
