• Lines on a Conch Shell •

Conch shell, you entice me;

Sandy colours woven with white.

A wonderful gift taken from the sea,

While your soul has taken flight.

A tiny coil wrapped around you

Widening as it spins with rhythm.

Nothing about you is quite overdue,

For the waves made you a perfect emblem.

You spin and dance leaving waves

To ripple right into my blood stream;

Leaving your texture shapely engraved

In my fingertips, kissed with your gleam.

Your waves fade into a dim cave

Where I hear your echo evermore.

I'll always remember the gift that you gave

When you rose up from the ocean floor.
