• Jonah •
It all began when God told Jonah,
"I need you to talk about me in Ninevah."
But Jonah was a rebellious man,
Either embarrassed or afraid, refused he can.
He jumped into a ship with friends
But turned to the direction with dead ends.
A violently blowing storm arose
Throwing waves on all their clothes.
The other men cried out to their gods
Trying to defeat the odds.
But Jonah cried out to his God true
And asked to be thrown into the blue.
So he was tossed overboard
Completely on his own accord.
Now the storm became calm
But of Jonah what did become?
His story did not just end there,
Although I'm sure he got a scare.
He was swallowed by a giant fish
Who planned to eat him from a dish!
He lived alive in the belly
Although it was kind of smelly
For three days and three nights.
Then he was spat out on shore - what a sight!
God made a palm sprout from the ground
Keeping the rebellious man safe and sound
Until he chose to return to a ship
But this time to Ninevah, with His word on his lip.
Jonah prayed, and God protected
Because though rebellious, he was elected
To spread the news, the wonderful news
To even those who God's law they abuse.
