At first
The crawl
Seems poky
As the turtle
Reaches
Land
Speckled fins dig
carelessly into the smooth, shimmering, sea-kissed sand
Leaving behind an indention, identical to the many before,
Just as the brilliant morning sun peaks out
From behind the endless, blue waving seas.
Little by little, the slow creature makes his way
To the edge of the chilly water, beckoning him
Back into the wild, back to the deep unknown,
Where others of his kind await, where he will
once again feel safe; unbothered by those
admiring gazes of the reckless humans,
watching him every moment of the day.
Those little children jumping for joy
at the sight, those who point a finger at him, making sure
their parents notice, before he crawls back
into the dark, warm, inviting
ocean, that wonderful
place called
home.
