the soil contains us

   we are rooted next to

hundreds of stems

   our roots tangle beneath

the sunrise gives a hint

   so we help each other up

we stand up tall

   before the first sparrow sings

before the morning glory blooms

   we turn to the horizon

where sparks of its light now shine

   and all as one

we gaze at the west

   we wait, we wait

an anxious smile on our face

   the sun makes its

majestic morn appearance

   we stare at it all day long

until its setting moment

   then we bow again

with a sigh to the ground

   back to our flower beds

where we await the new dawn.
