[The Letter]

"The best way to defeat your enemy is to make him your friend." Master Wu told his students at the dining table while taking a big bite from his toast.

Kai was clearly annoyed. "Master, we all know that! We've learned that like ages ago! We're much older. Isn't there anything new you can teach us?"

"Well, I never know when you listen to me and when not. It's just a daily reminder." Wu innocently took a sip of his tea.

"You do know that we have befriended a lot of enemies before, right? Like Morro, Garmadon, Skylor-" Jay listed, but got cut off harshly by Kai who was a little bit startled by the last name he had mentioned.

"What do you mean 'Skylor'? She has one of the purest souls I know and-"

"Bro, when are you finally gonna ask her out? Seeing you talk about her like that without being her boyfriend really is pain." Nya told her brother, taking a sip of her black coffee.

Kai glared at her. "I would if I had the chance to!"

The others just laughed hysterically. "You've had so many chances before." Jay said, rubbing a stray tear off his eye.

"Oh please, as if you could do better!" Kai spat back.

Everyone at the table stopped laughing and looked at Kai questioningly. Jay and Nya, who were sitting next to each other and right in front of Kai, both raised an eyebrow at him in sync. Kai looked at both of them before he sighed. "Right." Then he looked down at his plate and continued to eat his toast.

"Kai, we're serious. You should totally ask her out. I'm sure she likes you too." Cole patted Kai's back. He was sitting to the right of him.

"I don't feel comfortable talking about this." Kai murmured.

Then, Lloyd interfered. "I agree with Cole here. I'm positive she likes you back." After giving this statement, Lloyd went right back to cutting his piece of toast in the shape of a dinosaur.

"What if you're right?" Kai questioned, his tone a bit sad. "What if she just likes me, nothing more?"

Nya looked at Jay. "I kinda feel sorry for him." She whispered. Jay nodded in agreement.

"Well, I can't be the only one at this table who thinks she loves him, right?" Cole asked everyone.

Without thinking twice, everyone, including Master Wu, looked at Kai and nodded. "You would make a cute couple." Wu stated.

Everyone gasped in sync, Jay choked on his toast, Cole spat out his drink, and Kai just looked at him, dumbfounded. "What?" Wu didn't understand the sudden shock.

"Since when are you thinking these kinds of things?" Lloyd asked.

"Ever since Jay and Nya started dating." He pointed at the blushing couple. "Besides, I'm not that old to be grumpy and hate teenage love." He huffed, taking another bite of his toast.

Cole turned back to Kai. "Just ask her, dude. You have nothing to lose anyway."

"Except for his dignity, of course." Zane interfered.

"Zane!" Nya warned. "We're trying to encourage him!" She whispered to her robotic friend who nodded, however not really getting the hint.

Before Zane could give the Water Ninja an answer, the doorbell rang. "I'll go." Kai exclaimed before he ran out of the room. He was basically waiting for something to happen to get him out of that situation, and the bell was just what he needed. He opened the door, only to see the one and only mailman standing there with a huge smile on his face.

"A letter for you, here." He handed the letter to the Fire Ninja.

"Thanks." Kai took the letter and inspected it a little bit. He held a white envelope in his hands. The paper felt surprisingly soft, he kind of liked it.

"I've gotta go. See ya!" The mailman said before he took off.

Kai headed back inside and walked into the dining room where everyone was done eating their breakfast, they were just waiting for him to return. Master Wu had forced Lloyd to eat his toast dinosaur, that's why he looked a bit ticked off. "What is it?" Jay asked.

"A letter." Kai answered. He opened the letter to read what it said, but as he flew over the page, his expressions changed drastically.

"Well, what does it say?" Cole asked after the short, awkward silence.

Kai cleared his throat.

"Dear Ninja team,
I am Erica Hughes, principal of our local Ninjago High School. I have been asked to check our students' profiles to make sure that our youth gets the right amount of education, and nobody misses out.

However, as I looked at the profiles, it has come to my attention that you, my dearest Ninja and Samurai X, have never even attended high school, let alone any other stages of schools.

Now I know that you have been well educated by your Master, but I doubt it is enough to say that you all are qualified to earn your graduation certificates without attending school in the first place.

I am certain that this is going to sound shockingly, but I regret to inform you that I will need to send you to school for at least this year, your planned graduation year. I am asking for Lloyd Garmadon, Zane Julien, Kai Smith, Nya Smith, Jay Walker, Cole Brookstone, and Pixal Borg to attend high school as normal students. The school year will officially begin on Monday, July 10th, XXXX. You will all, hopefully, start the new school year as everyone else.

I am giving you the chance to experience school life like all the other teenagers your age and be able to make some new friends. I do have to say that you don't really have the chance to reject this offer, because I'm afraid if you do not earn your graduation, you will no longer be able to work as certified Ninja. Of course, if there's going to be an attack on Ninjago, you will be excused to help. Those missed hours will be remarked as attended as well.

I am asking you to meet me in my office on Sunday, July 9th XXXX, at 8 am in my office (room 202), to talk about all the details. You will also be given your schedules and choose your voluntary subjects. In addition, you will be given the chance to participate in our various clubs. I hope to see you soon.

Hey, this was a rather short chapter for my taste, but my chapters will get longer, I'm pretty sure about that. The principal's name has been changed from Sandra Hughes to Erica Hughes.
