"And what are we doing at the hospital?" Sasuke questioned as they got out the car and started unloading the humongous amount of presents in the back of the car. "Just tag along or leave kid." The short man said, sending a look towards Sasuke as if judging him. Sasuke kept his mouth shut, thinking that it would be wiser not to say anything.
"Naruto nii-chan!!" A squeal reached their ears. They turned around to see Naruto get swamped by the little kids. They were all dressed in the little standard hospital garb. The boys in pants and a shirt, and the girls in the shapeless dress. "Hey hey. Calm down." Naruto said softly and they all quietened down immediately, giving Naruto some space, he gave out the wrapped presents and the little kids started scattering to open their presents. "Oh! I got the action figure I wanted!"
"Oh myyy!! The Pokemon cards!"
"Eeeee! I wanted this book for a while now!" The exclamations of happiness burst through the room. Naruto looked at them softly, a gentle smile on his face. He closed his eyes as if enjoying the moment. There it is again. Him acting so strangely. Naruto seem to sway a little but he staggered slightly into an empty seat before he looked like he would fall over. A few older teens that were, they assume, patients went over to Naruto, sitting around him as they started chatting. The four adults and two Uchihas inched closer subconsciously trying to eavesdrop. They don't know what's going on with Naruto either. Itachi noted as they tried their best not to be spotted inching closer. The group laughed as Naruto said something that was funny.
"I came to say goodbye." Bursts of confusion and disapprovals came from the crowd of little kids as Naruto stood and the kids gathered around him. The older patients frowned at the statement. "Why are you saying goodbye?" A timid voice asked.
"Because sometimes when we leave for a better place, we can't come back." Naruto said softly, hoping that explanation would be enough for the little kids. The older kids bit their lips as they thought about the statement, trying to find the hidden meaning.
"Why are you leaving?"
"... I do not have a choice duckling, I just go wherever life takes me."
"Why can't you go the other way?" Another kid piped up. Naruto looked conflicted but he tried to remain smiling for the children. They are smarter than you think they are. "Come on guys. Let's go eat before you guys have to go back to your beds." The older teens said as they started ushering the children to the food table.
"Thank you." Naruto mouthed to them. Sasuke and Itachi were about to asked what he meant by goodbye and where he was going but Naruto's attention was on the children and he seemed so content that they decided not to spoil the moment.
"Protect the Kings." Naruto said, tossing a chess piece towards one of the boys as he was about to leave.
"Wait! Who is the king?" Naruto stopped, turning around to look at the five teens. He smiled, looking at the children who are happily eating after they had given Naruto a hug each and brawling a little. A look of realisation dawned them. The children are the king. The boy, whom Naruto tossed the chess piece to, wanted to be a soldier. Protect the kids to protect our future! The boy rushed to Naruto, hugging him. Naruto wrapped his arms around the taller boy who later planted a kiss on his forehead tenderly. "Goodbye Naruto. We will always remember you."
"Goodbye." Naruto whispered as the teens slowly took turns to give him a forehead kiss, like a protective older sibling. They were doing it so slowly it almost seemed like they are trying to buy time.

"Why did you have to say goodbye to them?" Itachi asked curiously when they piled into the car.
"Yeah! You said goodbye to those orphanage kids too this morning." One of the woman said, glancing at him. Naruto looked at them through the rear view mirror and peripheral vision, not saying anything. "I found all those kids good foster homes, I wouldn't get to see them again. The hospital kids... I have to say goodbye, they have gotten to dependent on me that they throw tantrums if I don't appear at least once a day." Naruto lied, hoping the rest could come up with some valid plausible reasons themselves so they wouldn't question him. The rest stayed silent so Naruto assumed they eventually found the reasonings.
Now... I'll have to say goodbye to them.
