"At least she is not useless." Megatron hummed. "I didn't think I'd look forward to the further messages from a fleshling, but she is intriguing."

Soundwave noted he did not use 'it' to describe the human femme. This little endeavor had proven her usefulness and dedication, therefore earning her non-dehumanizing title. Whether or not that would last, Soundwave hoped to see.

"I'll assume you didn't find anything about their base." Megatron gave a heavy, annoyed sigh. "And if the human female did not reveal such information, I doubt she knows as well."

The silent mech felt a slight prick at his pride, though he ignored it as best as any loyal Decepticon could. He searched daily for signs of the Autobots and their base of operations. Laserbeak would be called back needing energon after prowling around a recent raid or battle with another Decepticon. There was rarely any proof of a dwelling big enough for the metal titans, but they always came and went through their own groundbridge, it seemed. He always felt he could do better in his search, but at the moment, he was doing his best.

"You're dismissed Soundwave, and recharge. That's an order."

Soundwave nodded, stepping back before turning to slip out the door. This would often be his order from Megatron if the war lord noticed his most trusted working day in and day out with little rest. He knew even Soundwave had his limits and wanted to make sure he did not pass them. The TIC knew his limits as well and was not dumb or cocky enough to challenge them so willingly, but he knew Megatron had a reserved respect towards him. It was not because of any sort of sibling or friendly liking for Soundwave, but rather because the silver titan knew his Third in Command would go over his limits if he felt the need arose. That warranted certain exceptions, such as a mild form of a day off, almost.

The only hallway rarely used was the well-known hall of Soundwave's quarters. There were two cameras, one at each end, and both staring at each other. They caught any interlopers or loiterers, but there were seldom any of the sort. Three doors hung menacingly, the two on the south side of the hall were Megatron and Starscream's. The war lord's door was shiny and new, often having to be replaced due to one of his enraged outbursts. Starscream's was as dark as the Nemesis' walls, never having needed to be replaced since Trypticon's transformation. Soundwave's quarters was the exact same, no visible difference other than he lived there. If the crew of the war ship had not memorized the layout, they could easily knock on his door instead of the currently MIA Seekers'.

The light above flickered as the ship tilted and groaned in the weather patterns of Earth. Soundwave paused before his door, flipping through the cameras in search for any approaching Vehicon drones. He did not expect any. He was sure if it were only Megatron and Starscream, there would be far more traffic, though not much. Taking this hallway would potentially be a shortcut to certain areas of the war ship, but his presence terrified many.

Satisfied with the lack of Vehicons, Soundwave entered his room, visor identifying the plethora of plants that littered his back shelf and even hung from the ceiling. These were all (Y/N)'s, brought in and originally going to be thrown away after her departure to the Autobot's, but Soundwave speculated if she were to return, her primary food source would be smart to keep. So here they sat, never in need for water or extra sustenance, with grow lights bringing a green and gold glow to the mech's once dark room. He kept good care of them, and though (Y/N) wasn't there to harvest, he did that as well, using the fruits and vegetables or fallen leaves as compost.

Laserbeak detached without an order, hovering over the berth as his master examined an apple tree. Its leaves were drooping.

:It is interesting,: Laserbeak began through their bond as master and servant, :how such a small being with as little thinking capacity as she has, can care for so many Earthly plants with so many diverse needs.:

Soundwave did not respond as he dipped a digit into a bowl of water, balancing a drop of the liquid at the tip before letting it slide down into the roots of the small tree. The leaves perked only minutes later as he stared. Most of the plants were considered dwarfs compared to their natural sizes, but the lack of air in the mountains caused that. They had become a fraction smaller since being moved to the Nemesis, considering how it roamed a bit higher than (Y/N)'s previous home. Soundwave realized through his studies of these plants, that some of her sickness she may endure with the Autobots would be from the flux of oxygen levels.

:Are you worried for the human, or simply intrigued?:

The mech paused a moment. He did not feel worried for her, though there were concerns involving her loyalty and trustworthiness. She was a human, after all. Although her actions before being released to the Autobots proved her dedication to her mission, there was no telling what she'd decide to do if the enemy saw through her lies and deceit.

:There are variables I am concerned about.: He answered simply, the bond between master and servant vibrating deeply as the message rolled from one to the other.

:I'm sure Megatron is concerned about them as well.: Laserbeak flew to watch Soundwave water another tree from over his shoulder. :Do you really keep your holographic generator to water these small organic flora?:

Soundwave knew the change in subject from his friend's original topic meant 'Megatron has already thought of these variables, so there's no need to dwell on them'. The bird-like Minicon was right, but it didn't stop Soundwave from keeping them in the back of his processor for later examination. For now, he laid down on his berth and powered down. His holoform soon appeared, however, and began to water the smaller plants. One of them was just a vining plant like one would keep in an office, while some others were endangered, though harmless. They were of no use to (Y/N), but for some odd reason she kept them.

:It is beneficial to them, as they are less likely to be overwatered.:

:Makes sense, but you could just as easily create a contraption that waters them by itself. Why go to all this trouble just for this human female's food supply?:

Thinking a moment, the silent mech had not really given it much attention as to why he was doing it. More than likely (Y/N) was able to find new plants or grow them from the seed if she kept any within the confines of her mountain home, but most of these were already several years old, and needed however many years to properly produce fruit. He didn't care that it was a setback to her, but it would certainly make keeping her alive a bit more difficult if she were to return. Even Laserbeak's suggestion made sense and would free up much of his time to work on more important matters. So why was he doing it the hard way, so to speak.

:I will admit,: he watered a vine of grapes, not yet producing fruit, :It is enjoyably calm.:

Yes, have Soundwave caring for small plants   :)
