"Initiates, listen up!" Elise said raising her voice and stepping forward smirking at the newest Dauntless transfers. "My name is Elise and that is Eric," She said pointing towards Eric, "and we are your leaders and trainers." 

"Welcome to Dauntless. We expect bravery here, not cowardice. You will listen to us and do as you are instructed, otherwise you will be punished or worse, Factionless." Eric spoke, making sure to emphasize the punishment part.

 Elise heard a girl in the back whispering to another initiate. Eric turned toward Elise before facing the girl. "You want to enlighten us with what's so important that you have to ignore me initiate?" Eric coldly asked the girl.

"No" The initiate whispered.

Elise chuckled darkly and raised her voice as she continued to speak. "Maybe you should be the first jumper. This hole is the way into Dauntless."

 The girls' face paled for a second gulping at her mistake. 

"Jump" Elise ordered the scared girl. 

Elise's temper was really starting to rise as she looked at the initiate. Eric just stood there, amused at the scene unfolding before him. 

"That is an order! Here in Dauntless we train soldiers, not rebels." Elise raised her voice higher than previously. Hastily stepping forward toward female initiate, Elise smirked. Before the girl could process what was happening, Elise grabbed her arm tightly and led her to the edge. Some transfers faces turned pale and others mouths just dropped and the Dauntless born initiates just stood there.  

"I will not repeat this again. Jump now or you can join the Factionless!" Elise yelled at the poor girl. 

The girl gulped before closing her eyes and jumping into the hole.

"Anyone else want to add to that? If not you all better start jumping." 

Elise moved to stand beside Eric. They watched as everyone started jumping. Soon, they were the only two people left. 

"Together?" Eric asked while they both stood on the ledge. 

Elise simply nodded before the both of them jumped. Both of them hit the net and rolled off. Four and Lauren were patiently waiting as the initiates were gathered in a group. Lauren and Elise let Four and Eric do the talking.

"Dauntless born are with Lauren. The others are with me, Eric, and Elise. Follow us." Four said as the three of them led and explained to them what the purpose of the pit and the training room were. They were shown their sleeping arrangements for the next few weeks as stages went on. They were next shown the rest of the facility, where training would take place, the chasm, and the cafeteria.
