Now.. We'll be together, Hide.. I.. Looked really hard.. To find this centipede.. And I.. Put it in me, so..

"Kaneki.." Hide grumbled in his sleep, rolling over on his back, looking like a starfish.

".."

Hide.. Now we'll be.. One.

I dropped the centipede into his ear and watched as he starting squirming.

"O-ow.." he frowned in distaste. But then the centipede fully went into his ear, and his eyes shot open. "Ka.." The pain finally registered in his brain, and he began screaming, flailing. If I wasn't holding his wrists down, he would probably be trying to get it out with his hands.

"It's okay, Hide.. Just take it quietly.."

My best friend writhed in agony, trying hard to shake enough to get the centipede out, but I was holding every piece of him down. His legs were flailing freely behind me, but everything else was being weighed down by something. I was sitting on his waist, one kagune on his chest. Another kagune keeping his head in place. One more kagune on standby, just in case the centipede crawled out too quickly. And my hands holding his wrists.

I waited for a while before I grabbed the centipede with my kagune and dragged it out.

"How did it feel, Hide?" I asked.

Did you feel the same pain I did..?

He was panting and sobbing, still writhing in agony, but he was still able to croak my name.

"Ka-Kaneki.." he whimpered.

"Hide," I acknowledged.

Once he'd finally calmed down, he stared with sad eyes.

"How did it feel, Hide?"

"Judging from your tone.." he croaked, "Do you think this is normal?"

?

"It is not? I am only trying to become one with you, Hide.. I put that same centipede in myself earlier."

"Wha-What..? Wh-Why? Kaneki.. I.."

"I wanted to become one with you. If I get to do that.. I don't care if I have to go through that pain again."

".. Kaneki.. That.. That isn't.."

"?"

"Kaneki.. From what you're saying.. Was that.. You trying to have sex with me?"

"? I suppose you could compare it with that."

".. Kaneki.. I'm flattered.. That you feel that way, but.. This isn't.. How you show that. You just.. You just put a living creature in my EAR, Kaneki. Leaving it to crawl and crush my ear drum!"

".? Hide.. Are you angry?"

He has never been angry at me before..

"Of course I am! You just put a centipede in my ear! I don't care what you were thinking, or what you were trying to do, but that..!"

"?"

Hide.. Doesn't like me?

"I thought you liked me, Hide."

"Not if you're gonna put centipedes in my ear, no.."

".."

Oh.. Oh.

"I was sleeping peacefully when you waltzed in here and decided to put a living insect in my ear! It hurt! Leave. And never come back. You're.. Not my Kaneki anymore.."

".."

Oh.. Oh.

"Bye then.. Hide."

What's this? I feel so cold.. As if I'm back in that room again..

"Good night."

"Bye."

I just.. Wanted..

{I was contemplating on whether or not to let you guys wallow in horrific sadness, screaming at why Hide just rejects Kaneki like that, but.. Eh, most of you reading have read/watched Tokyo Ghoul, so.. You've had enough horrific sadness for one lifetime. I suggest you don't look for HideKane fanfics, but.. Being a HideKane fangirl myself.. I know that's impossible. We die for sweet HideKane fics ;-; }

And here I was, having a sweet dream about Kaneki.. What happened to him? That was Kaneki, right? Is he no longer.. The Kaneki I knew.?

I sat up.

".. Ahh.. I guess I'm gonna have to change the sheets again.."
