Four

"Let's go out for a bit." Autumn bangs on my door a few days later.

"And do what?" I ask.

"Just go to Starbucks or something." She offers.

"Why?" I ask from my comfy bed, buried in the sheets.

She sighs, walking into my room and pulling the covers off of me. She then walks to the windows and opens the blinds, to which I hiss in disagreement.

"You need to get out; you're not a vampire for goodness' sake." Autumn says, to which I groan. "You've been acting this way since Alex left. You guys are over; face the facts!"

I sigh, knowing that she is right. Again. I stand up and stretch, my bones and muscles being used for the first time in days. "Alright. I'll be ready in an hour." I say, not waiting for a reply, and walk to the shower.

I step out of the shower and wrap a towel around my body. I put my hair up in another towel and put some makeup on, brushing my teeth and hair as well. Once I feel satisfied, I walk out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom, where I pull out a simple outfit and put it on. I braid my hair down both sides and smile at my reflection. I grab some flats and walk out my bedroom door, noticing that Autumn is lounging around on the couch.

"Autuumnnnn." I say, and she looks at me.

"You look cute." She says, noticing my short pink top and jeans.

"Thanks." I respond, fixing my hair.

"Ready?" She asks, and I nod. She walks out the door, me right behind her.
----------------------------------------
We order and sit down in Starbucks, chatting here and there. When our names are called, I stand up and get our orders. I return back to the table and notice that Autumn is on her phone, but don't say anything against it. I quietly sip my coffee and wait for her to strike up a conversation. After a few more minutes and no more signs of her getting off her phone, I sigh.

"Alright. I guess I'll go. See ya." I say.

Autumn looks up. "Wait, don't go! Not yet!"

I sigh again, realizing what she is doing. She's stalling. "I know what you're doing." I say, and she immediately looks like a deer caught in headlights.

"Aaaannnnddd??" She asks, and I cross my arms. She sighs. "You need to talk to him."

"He can talk to me when I die." I respond harshly, picking my coffee up and walking out of the Starbucks, tears starting to freely fall down my face.

Why does she think she can just get us back together? Why does she think that if dad and I just talked that it would all be okay?

I don't need this drama in my life. I dramatically sigh, walking down the road and into a small park. I find a perfect tree with a small indentation in it; perfect for me to sit in and nobody would find me for hours. Me being me, there's probably enough room for another person as well. I rest my head against the tree as silent tears roll down my face.

I almost don't notice the figure that sits next to me. "Caitlin, right? You okay?" He asks, and I turn my head to look at him.

"Yeah... Some crazy shit is just going on right now, Vikk." I respond. Out of all of Autumn's friends, I felt like Vikk was the one I could talk to.

"And that would be...?"

I sigh, looking up at the sky. "For starters, Alex got arrested."

"That douchebag?! Thank Jesus!" He says, and I glare at him. "Alright, alright." He gives in.

"And now... Autumn is trying to get me back with my father."

"That annoying hoe?!" Vikk asks, and I nod. "Alright. No."

"My reaction exactly." I respond, looking at him.

"Alright... Listen." Vikk says, voice dropping. "I know of a place where you can go to forget everything."

"You mean run away."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"Alright, yes."

"What?"

"Anyways, I have a friend in Australia that could help you. He would let you stay at his place for a while." He offers.

"So... You're saying, give up my life here to go to Australia and forget everything?" I ask.

"Yeah, pretty much." He agrees, and I sigh.

"... I don't know.... What about Autumn?" I ask, remembering my best friend.

"She'll be fine. She has us, after all. We'll take good care of her." He offers. "And, when you're ready, you can come back here."

"Really?" I ask.

"Yeah. I'll even get JJ to drive you to the airport."

"That one guy with the nice car and lama hair?" I ask, and he bursts out into laugher.

"Y-ye-yes." He says in between chuckles. "Yes, Caitlin. And we won't tell a soul. You can trust the both of us."

I ponder the idea for a few minutes. I don't really have many friends here, just Autumn and Vikk really. And right now Autumn isn't being the best friend, but more like the controlling mom. Vikk is playing the best friend role and offering me a place to rebuild myself and forget everything.

The choice is simple.

"Alright. I'll do it." I reply.

A trace of s smile reaches his lips. "Great. We'll pick you up at 11."
