Ch.19 Easter
Even in England, the day of the Lord was busy for a certain angel and devil. The Phantomhive Mansion was celebrating Easter before the Lord was sent off to send the night in Elizabeth's manor.
The servants and everyone, even Ceil, was busy with Easter. Sebastian was cooking the finest dinner as (y/n) oversaw decorating the eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt. It was strange to her how someone who only carried a sword would carry the skill of art.
The eggs were well done, even beautiful, as the art brought tears of joy to everyone who's eyes laid upon them. Even Sebastian himself was impressed by the art himself. Ceil came down to the kitchen, which was rather unusual for him.
"Sebastian," Ceil called out, "who painted these eggs?"
Sebastian rose his head and smiled towards his young master. "Why, it was (y/n). She had the free time to simply create the art and colors Lady Elizabeth loves to her dear heart."
Ceil picked up an egg and started at it. The light blue colors shined like a breezeless ocean sky, combined with a scarlet pink of the evening sun gently touching its waters. Next, comes the pure white color of the angels. Its color is the color of everything, even blending perfectly like cream against the ocean and ribbon of pink.
"It's... marvelous." Ceil spoke with a breathless tone. "The colors bend perfectly together, even the bow on top of the egg is stylish. Elizabeth would adore this egg."
"My Lord, there are plenty more from just that egg."
He stopped cleaning the dishes and brought out the basket of egg filled with Easter eggs inside. All of them... so well done and polished to the tip of the eggs head. Only a true master of the arts can conjure something so... wonderful.
"I'm done with the roses!" (y/n)'s voice came from the garden, wiping the dirt off her cheek. "Is that all I'm done for today?"
"Tell (y/n) her job is to entertain Elizabeth today," Ceil spoke up. "I would send my time with Lizzy, but I must finish the contract with the company in India before I can spend any of it twiddling my thumbs."
Sebastian bowed to his master. "Yes, My Lord."
Ceil turned on his heels and left, satisfied by how everything was going for his day. (y/n) entered the kitchen and patted the dirt off her apron. "Was the master just in here? What did he say about me?"
Sebasitan turned around and went back to cleaning the dishes, sparkling and glistening just perfectly in the light. "He requests you distract Lady Elizabeth before the party starts and everyone comes to the manor. She should be coming in just ten minutes before the stroke of twelve. Best of luck."
He winked at her as (y/n) froze in her tracks. He's never winked at her before, and now she was starting to wonder if him kissing her cheek wasn't a dream after all. She woke up from the lips of Sebastian on her cheek, telling her to sleep well.
At that point she couldn't tell if it was a dream or not because either the steam from the bath clogged her mind or she was going insane. Maybe insane because the nicest Sebastian has ever been for her was drawing a warm steaming bath.
(y/n) shook off the thought and swept around the manor more before twelve o'clock. She thought of Andrew and then his master... Duncan. She wondered what he would have said too her by now.
"Heh," She giggled to herself. "He probably would have said 'A knight doing a maids' job? How unexpected to see you take up a broom and never a sword. Are you going to slice the boom in half if it attacks you with all the dust lying around?'"
The grandfather clock stuck it's hour of twelve. (y/n) smiled and watched by the window as Elizabeth's carriage pulled up towards the front door. (y/n) opened the door and bowed as Elizabeth exited out of her carriage.
"(y/n)!" Elizabeth cried out. "You're here!"
(y/n) came back up and smiled at the young mistress. "Why of course I am. I work here silly."
Elizabeth laughed and came up towards her and hugged her. Her dress just screamed the word spring as it was lovely, even the laces at the bottom matches the colors of her spring outfit.
She looked around with dazzled eyes. "Where is Ciel?"
(y/n) gave her a sad smile and bent down to her level. "The Lord has some contracts with India too finish up before spending Easter with you, Elizabeth. I'm sorry."
Elizabeth could try to hide anything, but she never hid her emotions around (y/n). Her face grew sorrowful. "Oh... I see..."
"Hey don't get down in the dumps." (y/n) wiped the tear coming down her rosy color cheeks. "He will come and spend Easter with you. Just not now, but in the meantime, let's do something you want to do for Easter."
"Really? Then bunny hats!"
Elizabeth pulled out a bunny hat with ears and put it on top of (y/n)'s head. The ears swayed back and forth just as Sebastian came out and stared.
"Goodness. What are those?" He asked.
Elizabeth smiled brightly and jumped up to put on top of his head. "It's for the Easter tea party! I plan for everyone, even the servants, to wear these! I want everyone to feel combined together on his wonderful holiday!"
Sebastian nodded and bowed towards her. "I shall get the tea and cups ready for the party."
Elizabeth smiled and clapped her hand as she noticed the sudden change in her attitude. One minute she was sad and miserable, but now she was joyful and bouncing around the place. (y/n) lead her to the party room which was the grand ball room, where plenty of people would be dancing and dining here tonight, even Elizabeth could dance with Ceil tonight.
To her that girl was a bunny rabbit with uncontrollably wild emotions inside. "I'm so glad everyone else can gather today!" Elizabeth giggled and adored her Easter Eggs.
Sebastian flipped his pocket watch out and motioned towards the door. "The Lord's afternoon tea time is ready. If you would like to join him he will be in the gardens."
Elizabeth wasted no time and dashed for the gardens. (y/n) watched from the windows and smiled when Elizabeth hugged Ceil from behind, starling him slightly.
"I wonder," Sebastian spoke up while setting the tables up for the party. "What does your Kingdom of Angels do during Easter? They must worship something, since it is Easter and the day of the Lord."
"Well, they start out by handing the royal family Easter eggs and dying them the color of blood. It's to represent the blood of the Lord and eat the egg raw."
"How foul," Sebastian wrinkled his nose like a cat.
(y/n) hid a smile while continuing, "It's a way of saying you are loyal to the light through thick and thin, blood by blood, and headstrong to challenge the faces of dangers. That is what it means to be not only a knight to the royal family, but to be holy and pure among the angles."
The front door banged loudly as Sebastian sighed. "Oh dear. They arrived early."
He turned on his heels to leave when (y/n) spoke up. "I must thank you once again."
Sebastian paused his hand on the door knob, gently opening it too let the bitter cold of the soulless hallway inside. "Might I ask what for?"
"Looking over me and taking care of me from the injuries during Germany. I appreciate everything you did to keep me in high health, even if you did make Malach stay away from me, but I knew it was deep down you wanted me to stress less."
"Hmp," Sebastian felt a smirk curl at the edge of his lips. "Then I look forward to see you giving me the same treatment if I'm ever in danger."
Sebastian left to answer the door to the other guests. (y/n) turned around and stared at the young Master and Elizabeth. She was envious of the young girl of how she could he happy anytime she wanted.
(y/n) didn't look forward to most of the days, but at least she had Sebastian and many other changing her life for the better. She picked up an Easter egg and twirled it in her hands, smiling sadly to herself.
"Happy birthday, Duncan. I hope the afterlife treats you exceedingly well. Forgive me for not spending it with you once again." Tears dripped down her face in gentle arches and curves of her cheeks. "I would do anything to see you again. My old joyful friend."
