I awoke the next morning to see that my outfit for the day along with my swimsuit was at my feet along with a sound of humming coming from the bathroom. 'What the heck' I thought rubbing my eyes placing my glasses on and then followed the sound only to locate Makoto singing and humming while brushing his hair with his eyes closed. I let him be and got dressed, it was 6 in the morning and we had the meet around 2 so we had 8 hours before. I was lacing my shoes by the time Makoto strolled out of the bathroom and into the room who yelped in surprise once he saw me standing there with a sly smile on my lips, "O-oh good morning A-ana..." I looked at him and we laughed and I said, "Good morning BFG you headed to the pool...to meet up with Haru?" He looked at me with shock and I sat on the bed and I patted the spot next to me and I said, "Take a seat." He sat next to me and I looked at him and asked, "What do you feel towards Haru?" I saw him freeze and he sighed and said, "I kinda like him too...but I brushed it off...but every time I'm near him I feel as though I could do anything...he's always been there for me..." I looked at him and carefully picked up his hand and I said, "You, Makoto are in love with your best friend." Once again he froze but this time he blushed and then he smiled at me softly and asked, "What about you..." I shook my head and said, "Forget about me...go chase your dream...go get your boy." He smiled at me and gave me a gentle brotherly hug and I internally sighed and thought 'once again thrown into the friend zone' but I was happy for the loveable man, he was happy...and there was nothing I could do to stop him.

Makoto left the room leaving me with my thoughts or so I thought, I then heard the bunk creak and I whipped around to see Rin and he motioned me up and I gave him a small smile as I crawled up be scooted over in his bunk and held me as I let a few tears as he held me and whispered, "There are other fish in the sea beautiful...you just have to open your eyes." I looked up at him and snuggled my nose into the crook of his neck and said, "That just proves to me that no one would ever want me..." He looked down at me a little and said, "Come on we gotta get a move on so we can warm up before the rally." I nodded and we got ready before heading out, we made our way down the streets side by side chatting about life. I smiled at him as we made our way to the pool to see Makoto sitting next to Haru who was resting his head against Makoto's shoulder, he locked eyes with mine and gave me a thumbs up and mouthed, 'THANK YOU!'

I smiled and nodded as I walked to the stands and watched Rin talk to duckling and Rei, they both gave me an understanding smile. I looked down at the wet concrete ground biting my thumb out of habit thinking to myself, 'I wonder why I don't feel as heartbroken from losing Makoto' I then looked up to see his twin siblings run down the bleachers and sat on either side of me and Ren asked, "I heard what happened..." Ran smacked her twin brother upside the head and I smiled and Ran said, "How about we change to deal...if you win then..." She thought about it for a minute and duckling came over and asked, "What is something you love other than swimming?" I smiled and said, "Ice skating." He looked at me and then asked, "What's ice skating?" I smirked and said, "You'll see...and if we lose then we have to run extra laps." We all agreed and warmed up in the pool having another hour before the event started as the teams started to show up, Rin had transferred to our team so I was starting to worry when his ex-teammates started to tease him for transferring.

I shook it off, looking at him as he wore his new Iwatobi swim jacket instead of his usual Samezuka swim one. I was used to him wearing dark colors so it was a sort of shock, as I was about to observe more I heard the voice of our coach Goro and the lady with the quotes that inspired the team before I joined Miho accompanied with her umbrella. Goro said, "Okay guys let's do this! You can do it, now go get ready!" I breathed and walked behind Rin who said, "It's a five-member race so you'll be the last one doing the breaststroke...I'll be in front of you." I nodded and I could hear cheers from the stands from our coach and G, I heard the gunshot and Makoto jumped in doing backstroke, Nagisa doing breaststroke (in this rally you can have doubles), Haru did freestyle, then Rin jumped in and did butterfly, and I jumped in kicking and pushing myself to the limit. I felt at home in the water now and I raced through it with a passion to not let these boys down...we worked too hard. Not daring to look at the lane next to me I pushed harder, feeling my legs burn along with my lungs. With one last kick I slammed my fingertips on the wall and looked up at the screen to see we won, I gasped and looked at the hands outstretched to me. I cheered and jumped hugging together...Rin was crying while hugging me and Haru, and ever Rei joined in on the hugging.

When all the hugging was over we walked over to get our picture taken, once that was done we each got our own wreath made by the fangirls/boys. I laughed and hugged the guys, my mind raced as my heart pumped trying to help me breathe. I heard coach calling our names and I looked up in the stands to see G smiling and she pointed to the pool to see Nagisa and he said, "Ana will you go out on a date with me!" I looked at him and then Makoto and said, "...Sure." I didn't see Makoto's heart shatter but then he smiled and clapped along with the cheering crowd.

Ooh~a date with Nagisa! I wonder what will happen next! ;)
