We spilt up from intelligence and it's almost an instant relief to be away from whoever Halstead is. I try and shake the thought of him from my mind, pressing my foot against the pedal, racing across the streets of Chicago.

"Tej how'd you know she'd at one of these places?" Dom's voice rings through the speaker linked through all our cars so we can communicate.

"She's not just in one of these places, we're heading straight to her." Tej's cocky voice rings through my ears, giving me the tiniest bit of hope that we'll get there in time, she'll be okay.

"You smartass!" Rome half scoffs half laughs through the speaker. Listening to the chatter i press my foot against the pedal even harder than before. My heart racing as we approach the building.

"I told Voight we'd work together." Hobbs shakes his head from inside the truck he's driving as I pull up beside him, everyone close behind. We all get out our cars and i pull a gun from the waistband of my pants.

"We do this the right way." Hobbs warns, and in all honesty I couldn't care. My focus is on Ash and getting her back safely.

Distressed, i storm toward the building. Everyone following close behind. Quietly we enter, my heart pounds. Footsteps, I hear footsteps. Turning the corner, someone slams me against a wall. The air is instantly knocked from my lungs as I instinctively hit the man's head with the butt of my gun. My fist finds him next, firmly connecting with Theo's nose. I can hear the crack as Theo stumbles back, before I get another chance Hobbs grabs him and utters two words.

"Find Ash"

My lungs tense as i rush through the building, mind focused on one thing, and one thing only as always. Ash. My heart pounds as i shout her name storming through the building. I slam open metal doors, the clanging ringing through my head, "Ashley!"

Silence remains as i run down a set of stairs coming to another large metal door. Then I hear it. Pained words, her words.

"Jay! Kev!" And for the first time, she's not calling out my name for help. Nausea tugs at my stomach as I use all my strength to open another large metal door.

My heart breaks as my eyes fall on her, laying on the floor, arms bound behind her back and blood oozing from her forehead. It reminds me so much of that night. When she originally broke up with Theo.

I rush toward her, examining her beaten body, the sight truly tugging at my heart strings.

"Brian?" Her voice wavers the same way it had all those years ago only making the pain in my chest 10x worse. I untie her hands and almost instantly she falls forward into my arms.

"Yeah it's me baby." I mutter, heart breaking for her all over again. I promised myself I would never let her get hurt like this again, it seems like I can't keep any of my promises as of lately.

My arms fall around her waist as I help her up, her winces don't go unnoticed, they never will. I will forever notice her pain.

"Get her in the car. I'll have Intelligence meet us at Med." Hobbs states, watching as Dom and I both take one of Ash's arms over our shoulders to help her make her way upstairs. I know it would be easier to carry her, but I don't know what he did to her... and the last thing I want to do is make her uncomfortable around me.

"Dom round here." I order Dom to one side of my car to make it easier for Ash to get in, she mumbles inaudible words as we try to get her in the car.

"Theo... he's here. It was him." She manages to get her words out and I nod, taking her in for a moment before Dom speaks.

"Get her there safe. We'll deal with him." Dom pats my back before I get in the drivers side of the car.

"You're okay." I assure Ash, but to be honest it's more like I'm reassuring myself that she's still here. My heart aches as I look at her weakened body. I sigh, starting the engine and begin driving.

"Blondie, why'd you cut your hair again?" Her words make me chuckle, I know her front she's trying to distract herself.

"Really? Six years and the first thing you ask is why I cut my hair?" I scoff with a smile while driving to the hospital.
