CHAPTER FOURTEEN || ASHLEY
I wake up to the sound of a phone ringing. My eyes flutter open as I lay on Jay's bare torso, he groans beneath me as he reaches for the phone, i yawn rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
As he reaches for his phone the memories from last night begin to fill my mind and I'm reminded why I'm laying naked on top of Jay, in my living room. God maybe beer isn't always the solution. I sigh closing my eyes again, listening to Jay talk on the phone and internally praying it's not work.
"I'm on my way." He says ending the call. A tired groan escapes my lips as I pull myself out of bed. It just had to be work. I can't have one quiet morning. Getting up, I begin retrieving my clothes scattered along my living room floor before walking into my bedroom.
It was a good night, I'll say that. Jay never seems to disappoint in that way. He's great, if i want him to be gentle he will. But he also has another side to him which I love. A side that doesn't make me feel broken, like I'm a fragile piece of china that's just waiting to smash. He treats me perfectly, in every way a woman would want to be treated.
Digging through the mess of my room of my room to find some work appropriate clothes, I begin getting ready. Hearing a knock on my bedroom door, i shout a quick, "come in."
Jay opens the door, clearly shocked to see me still half naked. The second he notices he turns away, another thing both Jay and Brian have in common. Respect.
"Jay. Your dick was inside me like five hours ago. You're good." I chuckle, putting my bra on. He smiles, jeans now unfortunately covering his bottom half.
"That doesn't mean you want me to see you naked again." He shrugs, "Voight spoke to Hobbs. They've got a plan."
I nod, god can this just be over already. Pulling my shirt over my head I walk over to my destroyed dresser and start bringing my hair into a ponytail. Jay walks back into the living room to get his shirt, while I finish putting my hair up. The stress is getting to me, clawing at my bones. My hands tremble with anxiety.

"So Lopez, he's higher up than John, Nick, Dante and Jośe. Thanks to Ash and Dom we saved 38 young women last night, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. I spoke to Hobbs and we came to an agreement." Voight briefs us all on our next actions regarding the case, his words making my heart race.
"Chicago is our jurisdiction, So we're going to stay here. Work on what we can find, safe houses, locations of girls already here. Hobbs and his team are working the roads to hopefully catch them in the act. This trafficking is a lot bigger than just Chicago. Which is why Hobbs is now a part of this investigation." Silence returns to the bullpen, it's not often Voight agrees to work with anyone else. Voluntarily, it's only happened once since I arrived here. And that was New York's special victims unit.
"Ash, Hobbs requested you go and help them." I sigh nodding, unsure of what to say, leave intelligence short, or my family?
****
This is the calmest day intelligence has had in weeks. We sit going through files, cctv footage, and known associates. Hours pass of us trying to nail Lopez. But my minds focused on one thing, the fact I have to meet Brian at Molly's later.
As it starts to get late, Intelligence begins dispersing. Since it's already getting late, I decide to head to Molly's. I sit outside of Molly's in my car, I attempt to give myself an internal pep talk. What the hell can I say to him? Especially after spending the night with Jay.
"Fuck," i sigh leaning my head against my seat, letting my frustration out by hitting the steering wheel.
7:56... the clock reads. Four minutes until I'm face to face with Brian, and I can't think of one thing to say. Sorry? That won't cut it.
Grabbing my phone and keys, i sigh getting out my car. This is it. This is where it all comes out. Slamming my car door closed, I lock the car. I need to sort my life out. I need to make a decision.
"Hey honey. D'ya miss me?" Are the words I hear before my heads slammed into my car door and the world goes black.
