You Say No To His Proposal

You Say No To His Proposal:

“No.” You said, biting your lip and resisting the urge to sprint away. You watched as his brown eyes filled with tears, and he awkwardly stood up from one knee, shoving the beautiful ring back into his pocket. “O-okay.” He said quietly, eyes refusing to meet yours. “Can I at least know why?” Taking a deep breath, you could feel your own throat clogging with unshed tears. “Because.” You began softly. “I’m extreme baggage Liam, there’s still things I haven’t figured out for myself, things that I can’t leave unresolved.” You paused taking a deep breath. Reaching out, you lifted his chin to meet your eyes. “Maybe someday Li, but right now I still don’t even know myself. I’m not ready to become someone’s wife. It’s not fair to you.” Removing your hand from his face, you ran your fingers down his arm, before wrapping your arms around his waist. You buried your face in his shoulder knowing how badly he needed a hug. And without a second thought, he hugged you back. “Someday.”

Louis:

“No.” You said without emotion. You stared back at your boyfriend, whose blue eyes were flashing with confusion and sadness, enough for you to start to feel bad. “No?” He said in confusion, his eyes deepening with hurt. “Why?” He said, his voice starting to waver. He remained on his position on the ground, but shoving the ring into his pocket. When you saw the tears start to fall from his eyes, your heart broke in two. Grabbing his face, you planted a deep kiss onto his lips. The look of sadness then turned into confusion. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you whispered in his ear “I’m just kidding, I’ll marry you.” For a few seconds there was no response, before Louis wrapped his arms around your body, and started peppering kisses on every last inch of your face. “I can’t even be mad at you right now.” He said in between kisses, arms still squeezing you tightly. “I love you so much.”

Harry:

“I can’t.” You said bluntly, desperately trying to not portray any emotion. The excitement and happiness faded from his eyes, as it turned into a blank expression to match your own. “So… Is that a no?” He said calmly. You looked into his deep green eyes, which had always been an open book- once again they betrayed him. He was devastated, and that look alone tore your heart in two. “I’m sorry.” Your voice gave you away cracking at the end. Salty tears began to fall from your eyes. Quickly, you turned and sprinted away from the heart broken man on his knees. You ran, but before you even made it 5 steps you felt a strong hand snap around your wrist. Pulling you to face him, Harry was no longer concerned with his own emotions, knowing that something was tearing you apart inside. “Why?” He asked softly. Refusing to meet his eyes you started to explain gently. “I can’t deal with being your wife. The hate was bad enough as your girlfriend. Just imagine when they find out that you’re taken forever- even legally. I can’t do it. I honestly still have no idea how I’m holding out now.” The tears poured from your eyes. You were ashamed of your weakness. You were ashamed of all of it. Feeling Harry’s grip tighten, he forced you to look into his eyes. “I don’t understand why they do this. No matter what they say, or who they are- you are perfect. Whatever you think are your flaws make you perfect. Your idea of beauty might be different than mine, because my perfect image of beauty is you. It will always be you. I love you. And I want to be with you forever. I want everyone to know you’re mine. I want that finger on your left hand be the one that shows just who you belong to.” With a careful finger he wiped the tears away from your eyes. “Don’t let them define your life. I’ll protect you forever and always. Let me show you that.”

Niall:

“No.” You said painfully, regretting the words the minute they fell out of your mouth. Niall’s eyes flashed with pain before his arms softly fell to the ground. He stood up awkwardly, before shoving his hands in his pockets. For several minutes an awkward silence fell between the two of you, with only the sound of Niall’s feet scuffing the floor filling your ears. After several deep breaths, you reached across and placed your hand in his. For a second he flinched away from you, but then melting into your embrace. Speaking softly you spoke to him truthfully. “Eventually Ni. Soon hopefully. But we’ve both got so much to do, still so much to be. We’re both young and busy, marriage isn’t the next step for us right now.” Reaching up your placed your hand on his cheek. “I want to do it right with you. I don’t want a ring on our fingers being the only thing that’s holding us together. I love you too much.” You could see the understanding flood through his eyes, and you placed your hand over his beating heart.

Zayn:

“I don’t know.” You whispered so quietly, that Zayn almost didn’t hear it. “I-I can’t.” You knew you spoke clearly this time, as a look of sadness and devastation flooded over his face. He dropped the ring box to his side, before his fingers laced themselves together. And quickly, he sat down on the floor, with his legs crossed and hands in his lap. You joined him, knowing the pain your heart must match his. The two of you sat on the ground staring at each other, before you were the first to burst into tears. Zayn reached out and placed your head in his lap, letting you sob into his knees. While the tears wracked through your body, Zayn continuously brushed the hair out of your face, and the tears from your chin. He whispered calming words in your ears and waited into your cries turned into soft hiccups. “If you’re not ready yet I can wait. It’s okay; nothing could ever make me stop loving you. Everything will be okay.”
