Sherlock and Molly

(St. Barts Lab, Sherlock’s POV: )

The organism squirmed and swam under my lens, among others doing the same in a sickly shade of blue. The door opened as I took a note, letting Molly in. She came in back-first, towing a cart of laboratory equipment in her wake. I continued my experiment until I heard her small gasp.

“Oh, Sherlock. How’d you get in?” She asked, holding a hand to her chest in surprise. I held up an ID card I took from a guard on the main floor. “Don’t you remember our deal? No coming in without me.” She scolded, holding out her hand for the card. I held it out to her, but she didn’t move. I sighed and got up, going over to her and putting it in her palm. “Thank you."

She put it in her lab coat pocket and turned around to the cart, putting the equipment away. I smiled faintly and went back to my microscope, not really studying it anymore. “Sherlock?” I looked up. “You know what day it is?”

“Yes.”

“Have you seen John?”

“Yes.”

“Alice?”

“No.”

“Mycroft?”

“Yes.”

“Do you mean you have looked at them, or spoken to them?”

“I spoke to Mycroft.” She nearly dropped the beakers she was holding.

“Y-You told your brother? Does that mean Jim- Moriarty’s web is down?” She asked, stuttering a bit.

“Yes. Completely.” I answered calmly.

“You are telling everyone, right?”

“Yes. Later tonight.” She squealed with glee and clapped her hands a little, and I couldn’t help but smile a bit.

“This is going to be brilliant! Everything will be back to normal, you’ll be solving cases, John and Alice will be so happy!” She continued listing the things she was looking forward to as my mind wandered. Would everything go back to normal? Would Alice forgive me? I wasn’t worried about her; she was very adaptable. But John was the one I was worried about. He wouldn’t be happy. He would probably hit me. Repeatedly. I scowled at the thought and put away the microscope slide. “Sherlock?” Molly asked, interrupting my thoughts. I looked at her again expectantly. “Do you want me to help you pack? O-on my lunch break I mean. Or now…” She asked nervously.

“No, the only thing at your flat of mine is clothes and toiletries.” I replied.

“Well, yeah. You still need to pack them if you’re going back into two-two-one bee.” She explained.

“I have a bag.” She gave me a look. “I am perfectly capable of packing myself, and I will most likely not be back in the flat tonight. I have a feeling John will not be so accepting.” She put her hands on her hips.

“Well if he isn’t, you call me and I’ll have a word with him.” She said confidently. She had grown in her self-esteem since I moved into her flat temporarily. I was, as John would say, ‘human’ and ‘nice’ to her. I didn’t have much choice. She helped me with my Lie, and didn’t release the truth. I owed her my life, and everyone else owed theirs to her as well. I nodded and she smiled, and then finished putting away the equipment, humming happily to herself.
