"Len...?"

Rin struggles to catch her balance, stumbling to floor as she finds herself backing away into the wall. Dead end. As if it wasn't already bad enough they had to hide in a rundown, abandoned house, she's staring at her own twin brother ripping apart the couch cushions a few yards ahead of her.

Frick. She can't figure out how this had happened. For one moment, he was perfectly fine with her- at least, her definition of "perfectly fine," which meant sticking by her side and keeping up the motivational talks about surviving this "end-of-the-world" crap. Instead he immediately shifted an attitude after stepping into the house.

Prior, Rin had the idea that everything was normal: Len claimed to be feeling dizzy and was losing consciousness every once in a while, yet she only assumed that the pressure of the world coming to an end was getting to him.

But of all things, she would have never guessed that lives would start being wiped out worldwide because of a virus. She'd seen the video games, the TV shows, all about viruses killing the human race- but thanks to her friends, she was too busy being convinced that it would come to be zombies instead. Freaking Kaito and his zombie apocalypse obsession.

Ever since it came to trying to survive solely with her brother, they promised to trust no one else. Everyone around them could be infected or carrying the virus- there's no one they could rely on but each other. But for heaven's sake, why'd the virus have to turn people into ferocious, brainwashed, cannibals? It was nearly the same as the zombies she was expecting, and yet so entirely freaking different.

"Len-" she starts and he whips his head her direction. She's instantly startled that she cuts her sentence off before two words can get out.

Rin, with her eyes closed, takes in quick, deep breaths, and is shielding her face by forming her arms in an X. Gradually, she lowers her arms down and stares at her brother straight ahead. His hair is disheveled and dirty, his skin's still the pale color they shared (depsite the bruises they've recently obtained), except his eyes are a vibrant, glowing yellow surrounding his black pupils- they're nothing like the calming ocean blue she was used to.

(She's afraid.)

He's watching her and her every little movement that she's scared he may even hear her heartbeat. He hops off the couch, immediately out of Rin's sight, making her even more paranoid. When he turns the corner, she focuses on his slow, but agile walk- keeping that bipedal stance except lowering himself a little closer to the ground. (She can only be reminded of those horrifying Wendigos from "Until Dawn.")

She tries backing away even more, but the wall prevents her from going any further. Rin slides her back across the wall, pushing herself along to the left corridor.

Suddenly, Len (who's at least five feet ahead and is coming right at her) blasts off into a full-blown sprint. Like before, she throws an arm over her face and turns away from the action.

Rin can feel his teeth sinking into her flesh and the blood trickling down from the wound. His teeth are sharper than she originally imagined, piercing the skin and biting down for not even ten seconds. More so it's like an eternity goes on, yet she's just waiting for him to rip the skin off her bones.

"Len, stop-!" she shrieks. "This isn't like you! Get-" she starts flailing her legs around, "get off of me!"

She finally lands a kick on his stomach and he's sent flying to the floor. In spite of her now-bleeding arm, she scrambles to get on her feet- almost tripping after her first attempt- and flees into one of the rooms nearby. She holds down the door that's banging against her spine, and with each thump she receives, she could just imagine him tearing her to shreds.

However, the banging becomes frequent and Rin finds herself attempting to barricade the door with chairs. But having locked herself in a bedroom, the one chair just had to be an inch away from her hand when she reached out. She's on the tips of her toes while extending an arm to grab it, yet out of nowhere she topples over and falls stomach-first to the floor.

The door slams open, hard enough causing the knob to hit the back wall. Rin then flips her body over and is looking up at her brother looming over her. He's on all fours and she's simply on her back, trying to hold herself up with her elbows. His face is not too far from her own; she can identify the blood still seeping from his crimson-covered fangs.

She's stuck in the same helpless position as she was moments before. She scoots back, panting as he continues to move forth with her, synchronized in every step she's trying to get away from him.

Crash!

Rin bumps into a bookshelf where she's showered over with books raining from above. She also takes note on the shattering noise she hears just after the collision. She takes a peek with one eye and the fragments of a lamp are scattered across the floor.

But she spots something else amongst the broken pieces- a gun. She glances at Len, who seems to be unaffected by anything that'd fallen on him, and looks back at the weapon.

Without thinking, she snatches up the loaded gun, and spontaneously fires it into his chest.

Side notes: An end of the world AU in which Earth is being wiped out by a virus making people go cannibalistic. Practically like zombies aside from the whole "eating your brain" thing. Rin and Len are twins and suddenly Len gets infected.

A/N: What am I doing with my life? I'm on the bed writing angst. (Dafudge is wrong with me?)

*When you could use this idea for a full-on fic and build up to this moment, but instead wants to get right to the intense nitty-gritty*. I live for this kind of Kagamine sibling betrayal- purposefully or not.

And it's my first time using the word "crap" in a work, holy shiz. Finally concluded it's not as bad of a swear word, so I find it perfectly okay to use and I know you guys can bear with me. (Or you're one of those people who actually want me to use swears in my writing... nah.)

This drabble was simply inspired by rinny.cosplay's "Lennibal the Cannibal" sketch on Instagram. (He's so cute, let him eat me.)
