Chapter 16: In a Flash
Levi's POV
"Stay close to me," I say to Hanji as we walked into a bar. Willy's Bar had some suspicious activity revolving around the amount of money that was coming from it. Willy's Bar was rated as a 3-star bar, so why is it receiving money as a 5-star restaurant? Something wasn't right. To do some digging, I took Hanji with me. Well... more like she forced me to.
"I know, Levi, I'm not that stupid." Then, she flashed me a smile, "So... undercover names?"
"Nothing too eccentric."
"Reminds me of when we were kids... I forgot what our codenames were. Though I do remember getting mad at Mom whenever she brought it up during family gatherings."
"Why's that? You hated me that much for leaving you behind?"
"I'm the black sheep of the family, Levi. Even all my cousins said that they never acted like me. And... our codenames were so basic. I wish we did something more like that. Who am I kidding? We were just kids. Everything is always basic. I'm just glad we met when we were kids. Otherwise, I can't tolerate you."
Seriously? Jeez...
We walked into the busy bar, and I tensed up. I forgot what tonight was. A Friday night. All the guys came here to celebrate a busy week of work. I could feel the stares on Hanji so much that I wrapped my arms around her and held her close to me. Hanji whispered my name in a worrying tone as I held her close.
I guide her to an empty table, sighing in relief. Everyone stayed away from this area as everyone was at the bar itself. I wanted to interview the manager, but knowing if this bar had connections to my uncle, will raise a lot of flags. But my being here raises more flags because I look similar to my uncle. They'll know either way.
"Levi," I jumped when Hanji called my name. She points to a waitress walking over, "What are we doing?"
"Just... act normal? Order something."
"Hi, I'm Casey, and welcome to Willy's Bar. What do you want?" Hanji ordered some drinks for the two of us and some fries. Just as Casey was about to leave, she stopped and looked me carefully in the eyes. I tried to look away, but her presence kept luring my eyes to her. "You have beautiful gray eyes."
"T-Thanks?"
Casey walked away with Hanji's order. "That's creepy..." I turned to Hanji seeing her smiling. "Though I might be saying that because I'm being jealous."
"Jealous? Already?" I chuckled, "How long have we been seeing each other?"
"Weeks? Almost 2 months? Something like that... and yeah, I can't believe I'm jealous already."
"I think that's normal, Hanji."

As the night passed, all the workers were completely drunk and stumbling. The bartender isn't serving them any more alcohol, but water only. Everything around us began to die down. Because everyone is drunk, the chances of suspicious activity rise.
"Levi, I'm starving..." Hanji complains, "These fries aren't cutting it."
I turn to her, picking at the small, crispy parts of the fries. We did come here at 9 pm, and it was almost midnight. The fact that Hanji has only eaten the fries here, I get that she's hungry. After one look around the bar, I saw that there was nothing else going on. Wrapping things up, I asked for the bill and we paid.
"Hold onto me, Hanji," I say to her, tightly gripping her hand as I pulled her through the bar. One guy bumped into us, separating our hands. Once the man passed, I reached for her hand again, but this time, I couldn't feel it. With fear running through my veins, I turned back and tried to find her. She was gone. "Hanji? Hanji?" I called her name, again and again, looking around the room. The man disappeared as well. "Where are you?"
I looked around for her for at least an hour. Realization hit me like a stone flung at my stomach. I could feel my blood running cold as shivers ran up and down my body. She was gone. I had her in my grasp. Looking at my hand, I stared at it, blaming it and myself that she was gone. I was holding her tightly... then that man... that man pushed us apart. What felt like a second turned into an eternity. I could've prevented it. I could've prevented her disappearance. She was right here. Now, she's gone.
"Hanji!"
