Joe POV

It had been 3 months, 3 months of not seeing her, not kissing her, not touching her. Three months of loving her from a distance and I couldn't take it any longer, I couldn't do this anymore. The night we said goodbye I had intended to tell her that I loved her but I never got the chance.

We weren't supposed to be together, it wasn't supposed to happen, I wasn't supposed to fall in love with her but I did and I don't regret it, and that's why I'm here waiting to talk to Vince. This was going to go one of two ways either he gave me his blessing to be with his niece or I was going to quit and then he couldn't object because I would no longer be talent.

This should have happened weeks ago but supposedly the stubborn old bastards calendar was full, although I'm sure he did it on purpose to put me off, but no such luck for him

"Mr McMahon will see you now" his secretary says, standing up I thank her and walk into his office

"Ah Joe, what can I do for you?" he says shaking my hand with a smile I was pretty sure would disappear quickly

"Actually sir I'd like to talk to you about Aimee" I say taking a seat

"The answer is no Joe" he sighs leaning back his chair and crossing his arms "I'm not doing this to be cruel I'm doing this to protect her"

"Yet you allowed your daughter to marry Paul" I say "I'm sorry sir, all due respect that doesn't seem fair"

"I appreciate that so I will explain" he says "Steph is a strong woman, she can take a knock and keep going, Aimee on the other hand she hurts easily, and the last time she got hurt I almost lost her, now I know you're a good man but being away a lot there is always that chance of you straying and that's what I'm trying to protect her from"

"I understand sir" I say "But here's the thing, I can't just walk away from her and I won't. I tried and it's killing me, I would never do anything to hurt her, she is the only woman in this world for me and I don't want anybody else"

"What are you trying to tell me Joe?" he asks with a hint of a smile

"I'm telling you that I am in love with your niece and I want to marry her" I say "And I would like your blessing to be with her, and if you can't or won't do that, then I will quit and then you can't stop me being with her because I will no longer be talent"

"You'd do that for her? You'd quit your job to be with her?" he asks and I nod, reaching over he presses a button on his phone "Brenda please ask my niece to come to my office" he says before turning to look at me.

After what seems like mere seconds the office door opens and there she is, looking as beautiful as ever and I can't stop the smile that forms on my face, she looks between us a worried expression on her face.

"Uncle Vince? Joe? What's going on?" she asks

"Aimee sweetheart I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to be completely honest with me" he says and she nods "How do you feel about this man?" he says motioning towards me

"Uncle Vince do you remember the day my mum died?" she asks taking a seat and he nods "After I got the call I went outside for some air and my knees gave out on me, the only reason I didn't hit the floor was because he caught me" she says smiling at me "and do you know what he did? he stood there and held me quietly while I cried, he didn't even know me and yet he comforted me. He held me up everyday after that, he became my best friend, my confidante, a shoulder to cry on, he was everything I wanted and much much more" she stops for a moment taking a breath before looking back at her Uncle "I knew I wasn't supposed to, I never meant to, but I fell in love with him and I'm still in love with him"

Vince nods and Aimee stands up making her way to the door "wait Aimee I'm not finished" Vince says stopping her in her tracks, I'm not really sure what was happening at this point, hearing her say she was in love with me had made me zone out a little, I was on cloud nine knowing she felt the same way.

"Alright Joe, you have my permission" he says "but on one condition, you don't hurt her, because so help me if you hurt her in any way not only will I fire your ass I will make sure you never work as a wrestler again"

"Yes sir, you have my word sir" I say smiling for ear to ear, standing up I rush over to Aimee sweeping her up in my arms and damn does it feel good to hold her again

"Wait what the hell just happened?" she asks looking a little confused

"Your Uncle just gave me permission to be with you babygirl" I smile "That's if you still want me?"

"Of course I do" she smiles wrapping her arms around my neck "I love you Joe, I love you so much"

"I love you too" I say kissing her cheek "he also gave me permission for something else"

"Oh and what was that?" she asks as I take a step back from her taking her hands in mine

"Marry me?" I ask and her mouth falls open "Marry me babygirl, be with me forever"

"Yes" she smiles as tears roll down her cheek "Yes I will"

I take a small box from my pocket and open it, I take out the ring and slide it on to her finger. I had brought it with me because I knew whichever way it went today I was going to ask her, we both look over at Vince who is smiling back at us, Aimee walks over to him and envelopes him in a hug "Thank you" she says.

"All I ever wanted was for you to be happy" he says kissing the top of her head "and I can see that Joe makes you very happy, but I meant what I said" he says looking over at me "Don't make me regret this Joe"

"You won't sir" I smile "because I am going to spend the rest of my life making sure that she is happy and that she knows just how loved she is"
