Even Witches Hate Math

I hated school; for most it was ok because of their friends or they had good grades;

Lets take a look at my life shall we?

Friends; zero

Grades; B's and C's

I sighed and slumped slightly as I trotted along the busy sidewalk, it was a quaint street with trees sheltering the sidewalks from most sunlight, the leaves creating a nice filter and in turn a dream-like ambience.

I tried to force myself to believe I was going on a walk, however my bag's strap pulling on my shoulder and the constant bump against my hip broke that fantasy pretty quickly.

'Why not just skip then?' I heard Kuro ask as if I was stupid for not doing so previously, I mentally gave her a withering look and replied bitterly 'we can't skip, its the law. It's not as if I can just quit school.' I finished as Kuro seemed to understand, with Lamia nodding beside her 'so it's like clan laws?' Lamia asked as if I should know, I took a guess 'yep, pretty much.'

"Oh! Look who it is!" an unpleasantly high-pitched voice called out behind me, I braced myself and knew I had to respond as I had shown signs of hearing, I should've brought my IPod so I could feign listening to music. Lamia looked confused 'no offence, but I though you said you had no friends?' she asked curiously

"I don't..." I muttered under my breath and turned around briskly. A girl with what looked like a pound of make-up splotched on her face was smiling at me, flashing white teeth. I thought that to most the sight would make them think something along the lines of wow, how pretty but all I thought was watch out for sharks, especially sharks with make-up Kuro snorted and wrinkled her nose in disgust, I prayed that neither of them would take control of my body during school.

"Hi, Jenna..." I trailed off and prayed that the disgust didn't show through my tone. I couldn't stand people like her, it's not as if she's mean. She's just horribly fake.

Jenna smiled, flashing her blinding teeth at me again "my dad is a doctor I heard that you were in the hospital!" she looked at me in ( fake ) concern, I flinched slightly "I thought there was a confidentiality policy that most hospitals have?" I asked, she looked at me and then quickly added "Oh! I saw you when I was on my way out! My dad would never do something like that!" she rambled while waving her hands around like she was possessed, I nodded "I have to go." I said briskly, hoping I didn't sound rude. I had spotted her friends and I didn't want to deal with more people who didn't understand things, not to say that most people here are spoiled, however most of them are to... Impulsive, plus I really wasn't good at dealing with people.

Lamia pouted at my thoughts and Kuro nodded and that confirmed my suspicions, she was the same. I suppose it comes with personality then, Lamia would become popular instantly, call it a gut feeling. Lamia smiled at that and Kuro looked slightly confused 'extroverted people tend to become popular' I explained to her and she nodded silently and accepted my explanation.

I had reached the door now and pushed on the left door, our school was fairly modest, nothing to rich nor to poor. We had a single field in the back of the school and a basket-ball court, the concrete court had been installed five years ago when the place got a flood of new students from other countries. I wasn't one of them, I lived here my entire life 'speaking of that, where is this place?' Kuro asked, Lamia perked up in interest, I took a moment 'well we live in Canada more specifically-' I was cut off by a loud noise that made the three of us jump in synchronization.

It took me a moment of standing there dumbly to realize the bell rung, and that I might be late to class... CLASS! I rushed down the halls verging on running but sticking to speed walking, I noticed everyone else was already in class.

I saw my locker, luckily it was on the wall right across from my classroom, a small blessing right now. I opened it and Lamia's eyes widened in wonder, as I stuffed my bag in my locker and took out my necessary textbook; science, I heard 'you get your own personal cupboard?!' Lamia screeched while jumping up and down, I chuckled despite the situation ' no, it's called a locker. It's only used in schools and for basic storage, I would explain more but we are going to be late!' I rattled off quickly as I slammed the locker close and didn't bother locking it. It wasn't as if I did normally anyhow.

I hurried into the classroom and stopped abruptly as I reached the door, my noise and chuckling had attracted the attention of the teacher, not to mention the entire class. And now all of them were staring at me like I walked in with a talking cat. I flushed in embarrassment, my ears turning scarlet. As I fiddled with my blonde hair the teacher told me to take a seat, I thanked the gods silently as I slinked off to my seat;

Lets give you a quick summary of the day, if I don't want to live through this; I won't make you,

Science; I hate science, Kuro and Lamia then declared that they loved science, and that all witches did. It was an acquired taste.

History; Kuro loved it to bits as she rattled off the facts to me, I had never felt more gratitude towards them.

Then this happened,

The teacher, a young man with brown hair and black rimmed glasses, Mr. Larson was rambling on about a war from some time ago, I had zoned out and let Kuro do the listening, I couldn't let her fully surface, there were cases like Lamia where she could take over my actions in extreme times of emotion; then there was what Kuro had described as a 'Soul Key Exchange' where they would physically swap bodies, so I would become a subconscious being and they would get their real bodies back, temporarily of course, and it tired them greatly. Along with the fact that they could use their powers, but that was only in times of emergency. I sighed and imagined what it must be like to be able to use magic, I had dreamed about things like that when I was a little girl.

I blinked and gasped in alarm; I felt the sensation of being pulled underwater, I hadn't been paying attention! What happened?!

I blinked again, I was in my subconscious, looking at the viewing-mist. Who had taken over, I looked to my right, Lamia blinked sheepishly at me.

Kuro had taken over, this was a first.

'What set Kuro off?' I asked irritably. Lamia shrugged 'I don't know, something the teacher said...' she trailed off as we both heard shouting, laughing and a loud bang noise;

Kuro had slammed her ( my ) hands on the table and shouted "you are a fake! A complete quack of a historian!"

Mr. Larson blinked, he obviously hadn't expected something like this of me "Ms. Yuki, sit down this instant!" he scolded after gaining his composure. Kuro glared and some students flinched.

I blinked in astonishment, not much could intimidate my classmates, seeing as they were pretty naïve to danger, adrenaline junkies.

"Well then, would you explain where this accusation came from?" Mr. Larson asked while spreading his arms out as if this was a public humiliation and Kuro had fallen in to his elaborate trap

Kuro smirked "very well, you say the armies marched up from the sides and circled around miles of forest land to distract the third party which knew of their plan, which they changed accordingly?" Kuro asked with bravado, Mr. Larson blinked, obviously taken aback by her thorough summary, then he hesitantly nodded, suddenly feeling like he had fallen for Kuro's trap;

Which he had.

"That could not be possible, the third party could not have gotten the letter in time, if your dates are correct. They would've gotten the letter when the army had already launched it's attack of the city, it was a three-pronged attack to begin with. And the dealings between the two countries made it politically un-wise for the leader to attack. So the third party would have done nothing, you have mutilated history." Kuro finished, Mr. Larson looked at the board then the textbook, flipping through dates.

He flushed slightly and realized she was right, the story had been changed over-time. He just hadn't connected the dots.

I blinked, did she really pull that off?

Lamia looked proud.

Math; the witches soon found their least favourite subject, I could agree on that.

Social studies; Lamia took that over, and she started something as well,

It had only been a few blocks after Kuro's little outburst, I was feeling tense and I repeatedly rubbed my temples, could this day get any more hectic?

I really shouldn't have asked.

"Hey, did you watch star wars?"   I heard a male voice ask someone behind me. I turned slightly, it was a guy with brown hair that was set a certain shade it almost looked a brand of red. Talking to another guy who had a bored look on his face "no way, I'm not wasting my time with that." he responded.

Oh great, here we go again...

I opened my eyes to see I was in my subconscious again, not a welcomed sight. This time it was Kuro who was nonchalantly standing beside me 'hey.' she casually greeted, I glared slightly. This was getting tiring.

"Like hell!" I heard Lamia scream from outside my head, I turned and saw her yelling at the second guy, he looked startled, and perhaps scared?

The first guy, with the red-brown hair looked shocked, but not scared. If anything he looked happy.

"You can't hate something great like star wars!" Lamia ranted angrily, as she finished scolding him she grabbed the arm of the first guy and dragged him away, she turned to look at him with a sheepish smile "sorry, I just couldn't stand someone insulting star wars" she rubbed the back of her neck "no! That's great! It's good to meet other people who like it!" the guy said happily, Lamia grinned and said "ne, what's your name?" he looked taken aback for a heartbeat then cracked a boyish grin and said "names Noah, yours?" he responded quickly and Lamia replied just as quickly "its la- Yuki!" she quickly covered her mistake, Noah didn't seem to notice and I sighed in relief.

I was soon let back out, but I still don't know how she learned what star wars was...

The rest of the day blurred, no other lessons stood out; however I couldn't be more grateful for that.

I slept soundly and deeply that night, so did Kuro and Lamia.

A/N: so, I am not particularly fond of star wars, I haven't watched it myself. However Lamia is based off of my friend, who you guessed it. Loves star wars.

So anyway just clearing that up because, I don't know but I did it anyway XD
