Chapter 25

Jemma's Pov:

I woke up to the smell of food and the sound of people laughing. I stretched and looked at the clock. I'd been asleep for the last few hours.

I got out of bed and walked to the kitchen. I smiled as I saw that Robby and Tina were in there with Michael.

Tina looked up from the pot she was stirring. "Finally sleeping beauty wakes up!"

Michael got up from grading papers and walked to me. "You feeling better Love?"

I leaned up and kissed him. "I already told you I felt fine. I guess all the stress is just wearing me out."

I heard a pop and looked over to see Tina slapping Robby's hand with the spatula.

"I already told you, no picking at the food." She complained with her hands on her hips.

"Jeez woman! Those pregnancy hormones are kicking your ass!" Robby whined with a eye roll.

We all sat down to eat and Tina kept shooting me looks.

"What?" I asked after the hundredth time.

She shrugged. "Nothing, It's just, I gotta go to the store and I don't wanna go by myself. Come with me?" She pleaded.

We walked into Walgreen's and she grabbed my hand to drag me to the pregnancy test aisle.

"I thought you already took one."

She rolled her eyes. "Duh, but have you?"

I laughed. "Me? Why would I? I cant be pregnant."

She crossed her arms. "Oh really, So Mike uses a condom every single time? Even when the freaky deeky hits y'all and you bust a dirty quickie in his office?"

I blushed and she laughed. "Busted Baby doll"

"No he doesn't use condoms but I'm on the pill! It's just stress."

She rolled her eyes. "Just humor me and take the damn test." She shoved the pink box into my hand.

"Fine but it's a waste of time and money. I cant be pregnant."

"Sure, whatever you say Babe."

I stamped my foot. "I'm serious. The pill is like 99.9% effective."

"I know. Answer me this smarty pants. Have you had your period?" she asked as we walked to the counter.

I did the calculations and I haven't had one since before my birthday. "Shit!"

She bust out laughing and handed the clerk the money. "It still could be just stress." She said in a placating voice.

I walked through the door and straight to our bathroom. I didn't bother saying hi to the guys.

I heard Tina tell them I'd be out in like 3 minutes and she followed me into the room.

"I can pee by myself." I snapped as nausea rolled through me. Stress induced, I'm sure.

She laughed "Oh hush, I'm not looking at your naughty bits. I'm just in here to make sure you actually take it."

She faced the door and I dropped my panties to pee.

I finished my business and put the test on the counter. I spent the three minutes silently trying to figure out how I felt about this.

My hands slid down to my abdomen and I pictured the baby having Michael's smile and eyes. I felt my lips tug up and realized I was freaked out but happy.

The timer dinged and I picked up the test.

Positive!

My eyes stayed glued to the stick and I started to panic.

I literally just got married the other day! It's too soon.

What if Michael doesn't want to start a family until we're older.

Tina slid her arms around me and kissed my cheek. "How do you feel about this?"

I looked up and met her eyes in the mirror. "I'm happy but scared shit-less. What if I'm a crap mom? How's Michael going to take this? What if he doesn't want-"

She covered my mouth with her hand and rolled her eyes. "You're being stupid! I bet he'll be crazy excited. In fact let's see."

She flashed a huge smile then screamed "MIKE!!!"

A few seconds later Michael came crashing through the door followed by Robby. "What's wrong?"

He looked at me then trailed his eyes down to the test still in my hands. Then back up and before I knew it I was engulfed in his arms.

"Does this mean what I think it does?"

I nodded my head. "You're gonna be a daddy."

"Oh my god! You guys really do everything together! I bet y'all will even go into labor together!" Robby cracked up at his own comment and Tina elbowed him.

"Don't be jealous that we're creating life and all you're creating now is shit from the food I cooked for dinner."

I ignored their playful teasing and pulled back to look at Michael. "Are you ok with this? I swear I took my pill everyday. I didn't try to trap you into marrying me. I thought the pill was enough. Man the timing is so off. We just got married!"

He kissed me quiet.

"I couldn't be more happy. And you didn't trap me into marrying you. We married before we even knew about the baby. I was actually wondering about it when you looked up doctors earlier for Tina. You threw up the morning after we got married then fainted at the chapel. Then you got dizzy earlier. We've had sex like at least once every day for the last month or so."

I raised a brow. "Are you implying I'm a nympho?"

He rolled his eyes. "No I was stating a fact that you haven't had a period. I know that for a fact because we've had sex every day since your birthday. I didn't even think about that until this morning so I was gonna try talking you into going to the doctor tonight."

He picked me up and spun me around. "Best week of my life! I married you and found out I'm gonna be a daddy and uncle in the same day!"

He kissed me like there was no tomorrow until Tina tapped his shoulder.

He pulled back and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry guys, got caught up in the moment! I'm gonna be a daddy!" He cheered.

Tina switched her look from him to me and narrowed her eyes. "Now that the baby love fest is over.... When the hell were you gonna tell me you up and married him?" She said with a whine.

Michael laughed and she shot him a dry look. "Don't think your getting off scott free mister."

He pulled her into a group hug. "We got a little caught up in the moment and decided we'd have a wedding just for ourselves then one back here so everyone could be a part of it. Don't get mad. It's bad for my niece of nephew." He winked at me over her head.

Her annoyance faded and she started to smile. "Tell me everything!"

Robby groaned and pulled out of the hug. "Dude did you have to get her all excited? All I'm gonna here for like the next month is wedding stuff! I swear they're trying to turn me into a chick!"

"Come on Rob, let's go watch some football or boxing. Wouldn't want the girls succeeding in girling you up!" Michael clapped him on the back.

He turned back to me and pulled me into a hug and very sweet kiss. "We'll talk more after you finish with Tina. I love you Mrs. Jenkins."

Tina and I walked out of the bathroom and decided to stay in the bedroom so Michael could spend time with Robby since he's worried about his masculinity.

We spent the next hour or so talking about my Vegas trip. She giggled when she found out it was Twilight themed. "I can't believe we got pregnant around the same time by brothers!"

I laughed and agreed.

It was getting late so she and Robby left.

Michael laid down next to me and I cuddled into his open arms. We stayed quiet for a few minutes and then I started to cry.

"Michael, I cant do this. I'm a horrible mom." I sobbed.

He sat up and pulled me into a sitting position facing him. "Jemma Look at me."

I just kept my head down and continued to cry.

He lifted my face up to search my eyes. "What in the world are you talking about? You'll be a wonderful mother. Just look at the way you took care of your brother and sister. Look at the way you take care of your friends. You went all mama bear protective of Tina this morning. Our child will be the luckiest kid ever to have you as their mom."

I shook my head. "You don't understand. I'm a bad mom now." I sniffled and pushed the words passed the lump in my throat.

"Michael I probably hurt our baby. I drank and got a tattoo this weekend then today I got into a fist fight. None of that is good mommy behavior. What if I hurt it?" I cried harder and he pulled me into his lap.

He rocked me and cooed sweet words to me for a few minutes. It helped a little but I was still too worried about our baby to actually take in what he was saying.

He stood up and put me on my feet.

"Come on Sweetheart." He said leading me out of the house.

"Where are we going?" I hiccuped.

"I don't want you worrying for nothing. So I'm taking you to the hospital to get checked out."

I jumped on him and slapped a sloppy kiss to his talking lips. "Babe you're a genius!"

He chuckled.

We walked in and I sat down while Michael checked me in. In just a few minutes I was taken to the back. The nurse took my weight and blood pressure and checked my heart beat.

"Everything looks good so far. Just change into this gown and the doctor will be in shortly."

I striped my clothes off and Michael folded them neatly as I slipped on the paper gown. There was a brisk knock followed by the door opening.

"I'm Doctor Connor. Mrs. Jenkins your husband said you were having some problems."

I nodded and started to tear up. Michael sat next to me on the bed and held me while I pulled myself together. I cleared my throat and looked at the female doctor.

"Yes ma'am. You see this past weekend Michael and I went to Las Vegas and I got my first tattoo and later that night I had a few mixed drinks and a couple of glasses of champagne. Then earlier I got into an altercation and was hit a few times. I know of 2 hits that landed on my stomach."

I took a deep breath. "I didn't find out until a few hours ago that I was pregnant. Now I cant stop worrying about our baby." I sniffled again and the doctor nodded and rolled her chair over to me.

"Ok Jemma the first thing we're going to do is an ultrasound. It's completely painless and noninvasive. We'll be able to hear the baby's heart beat and by it's size we can tell how far along you are." She put some jell on my lower belly and viola.

The sound of a fast constant thumping filled the room. I looked at the doctor but she didn't seem worried.

"Is it supposed to be that fast?"

She nodded and turned the screen towards us.

"That is perfectly normal. See that little fluttering part. That is your baby's heart."

She clicked around on the screen and did some measurements. Michael and I stared at the screen mesmerized. He gently squeezed my hand and kissed my cheek.

"By the size of the fetus and your last menstrual cycle. I'd say your about 6 and a half weeks. You're due date is August 10th. Everything looks fine. You should be able to find out the sex of the baby in about 8 to 10 weeks. We need to get you started on prenatal vitamins and set you up with an OB/Gyn."

We nodded our head. "She's worried the fight hurt the baby." Michael reminded her.

"If there was any damage caused by the fight you would have felt sharp pains and started bleeding. As for the other stuff. From what I can see the baby is healthy but you need to refrain from doing any drinking or body modification until after you give birth."

"Of course! I would never have done any of that if I'd known. I was on the pill so I didn't even think about the possibility of being pregnant. I thought it was just stress making me sick."

She smiled kindly. "I understand. Your husband filled us in on some of what's been going on. It's important that for the rest of your pregnancy you avoid stress and get plenty of rest."

"Absolutely. Thank you so much doctor."

Michael and I left and went home.

"See I told you our baby was fine. Did the doctor ease your mind love?"

"Yeah, I feel a hundred times better now that I know I didn't hurt little Squishy."

He got in bed with me. "Squishy?"

I giggled at his facial expression.

"I don't like calling our baby an it or fetus. We don't know if it's a boy or girl so we cant pick a name. Plus it looked kinda like a freaky fish. So I named it Squishy. You know, like from Finding Nemo."

He chucked and settled me in his arms.

He ran his hand over my flat belly and I looked down. "How did we not notice I'd missed my period and was growing this little tyke?"

He laughed again and ran his hand over my stomach once more. "It's mind blowing that you're growing a little person in that tiny body of yours. Honestly I didn't even think about you missing you're monthly girl thing. Plus most of the time when your clothes are off we're a little preoccupied."

I giggled.

He leaned down and kissed my non-exsistent baby bump and smiled up at me. "We're having a baby. I just found my third favorite word in the English language."

"Squishy?" I teased combing my fingers through his hair.

He crawled up my body and planted a firm kiss to my lips.

"Parents!" He breathed against my lips.
