Part Five

Blaire:

Walking into the small foyer of her two-story suburban home, Blaire is greeted by her mother who hasn't worked ever since she began having seizures. Long, dark brown hair ran down both shoulders, and an uneven blue headband rested on the top of her oval-shaped head.

"How was school?" she asked as she hugged Blaire.

Taking off her backpack, and putting her shoes in the corner by the coat rack, she replied, "Okay, until I heard about-"

"Cody, I know," Blaire's mother interrupted, "You two were the best of friends until we moved. When was the last time you talked to him?"

Blaire shyly looked up as she sat at the bar of her kitchen, watching her mother fix the two a glass of cherry cola. "A week after we moved. I tried talking to him but, he would never respond.

A vibration occurs in Blaire's back pocket from her phone, and when she pulls it out from her back pocket she is shocked when she sees who it is.

Sadie: Hey, they're having a memorial this Saturday for Cody. Idk if you can make it, but if you can please come. I really miss you.

"Who was that?" Blaire's mother asked.

After setting her phone down, Blaire takes a sip from the glass her mother had handed her. "Sadie, she said they're having a memorial for Cody this weekend. Can we go?"

Blaire's mother looked at the calendar. "It's Thursday."

" I know."

"But," her mother adds, raising an eyebrow, "We aren't busy this weekend. Your father and I could always check you out of school and leave tomorrow."

"Really?" Blaire exclaims, eyes wide, and quickly turning on her phone to reply to Sadie.

Blaire: I'm coming, my mom's the best. I can't wait to see you! :)
