Chapter 11
Once Kayla was done with warning her friends, she returned to the guild hall and walked over to Mira.
"Thank you for letting me borrow it." Kayla said as she handed it back to Mira.
Mira smiled sweetly as she took it back from Kayla, "No problem. I hope you were able to contact your friends."
"I was. Has Erza finished talking to the master?" She glanced towards the door that lead to Makorov's office, where Erza went into as Laxus was electrifying Natsu.
"No. She's been in there for a while now. Did something happen on that job?"
"The journal we found held some information about a Dark Guild by the name of Death's Storm. After Erza is finished talking with the Master, she'll most likely tell the guild the entire story."
Almost on signal, the door to the Master's office opened and Erza walked out with the master right behind her, both looking very serious. Kayla watched as they walked to the second floor of the guild hall, the Master stood on the railing and cleared his throat, getting the attention of all the wizards in the guild hall.
"Erza has informed me of a potential danger that might threaten the guild, as well as the whole of Fiore. In their last job, they found a journal that held information pertaining to the dark guild Death's Storm. While the guild is well known, their only offense was taking on Mercenary jobs and holding the rumored Fearsome Five. But, with the new information, there is reason to believe that this guild is more dangerous than we originally thought. Erza, please explain what you found in that journal."
Erza nodded and held up the leather bound journal for the guild to see. "This journal as plans of resurrecting a demon from Zeref's books. This demon is called Amiol. After some research I did with the master, we found that it can create storms capable of wiping out the entirety of Fiore in one swipe. But in order to resurrect this demon, it required the magic equal to five powerful wizards. The rumored Fearsome Five."
"So those Fearsome Five guys are the key to resurrecting this demon? If that's the case, then why hasn't it happened yet? Those guys have been in that guild for years." Someone said from near the back of the crowd, and Kayla looked back to see a familiar iron-faced Dragon Slayer. As Erza responded to his question about how she believed the fearsome five weren't strong enough and that they were out in the world to get stronger, Kayla thought back to a few years ago.
Gajeel used to be part of Phantom Lord, one of the only dark guild to have an alliance with Death's Storm. So, whenever the master of Phantom Lord would come over to the guild hall, Kayla would sometimes catch glimpses of Gajeel as she was moving from training area to her room. Luckily, it seemed as if he had never seen her before due to the fact that she'd been in Fairy Tail for almost a month and he had never recognized her.
"So, when you're out on a job, keep an eye out for anything suspicious, especially wizards similar to those of the Fearsome Five." Erza said, brining Kayla out of her thoughts. "And most importantly, be careful."
The guild shouted out different responses, though all of them in affirmation about what they were just told. It seemed that they were done with the announcement since they walked down from the second floor and Kayla saw that everyone had separated in their separate groups. For the first time since their escape, Kayla was glad she and her friends had split up. If five wizards suddenly appeared at one guild and then this news came out... they would be on the top of the suspicion list.
Kayla looked around, her eyes meeting with Freed's. His eyes narrowed in slight suspicion before Kayla looked away and towards Erza, her eyes landing on the journal she was still holding. She wanted to ask for it, it was written by her mother after all. Though she couldn't just walk up to Erza and ask for the journal without questions, so for the time being she would have to trust Erza and the Master to keep it safe.
"Hey. Newbie." Laxus said, causing Kayla to turn around and see the Thunder Legion behind her.
"Come on. I've been a part of the Legion for a while now. I'm pretty sure I'm not a newbie anymore." Kayla asked as she crossed her arms.
"You stop being a newbie when I say so." Laxus said sternly. "Now come on, we have a job."

A while later, Kayla was on a boat heading to some sort of island, a smile on her face as she let the fresh, salty air wash over her.
She has been on boats before— once or twice— but she had always been out of commission and almost passed out due to motion sickness. But with the seal, just like when she was on the train, her Slayer magic was sealed off as well as her motion sickness. Unfortunately Laxus didn't have the same luck as she did.
The Lightning Dragon Slayer was sitting against some barrels, his eyes closed and a stern expression on his face. To any normal person he looked just as if he was resting, but Kayla could hear the hitches in his breath every now and then. And looking at the others on the boat she figured mentioning it would end badly for her.
Kayla looked from Laxus back to the open sea. The job they were on was a hunt and capture mission. Similar to Kayla's first job at fairy tail, except the target was apparently someone who claimed to be the Fearsome Five. Ironically, someone was claiming to be her— The Storm Bringer. Laxus had mentioned that he normally wouldn't take a job like that, but after Erza's announcement earlier it was more believable to him that one of the Fearsome Five could be terrorizing an entire island. Of course, Kayla knew otherwise, but she couldn't just say that the person they would be chasing is a fake, that would end up in her cover getting blown after just a few questions.
The island was getting close, and a chill ran up her spine as she saw the dark storm clouds floating above the island. Whoever it was on this island could use extremely powerful storm magic.
As the boat got closer, Kayla started to feel the electricity hopping off the island. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end and her fingers sparked occasionally to release any excess lightning that was in the ethernano in the air. She glanced back at Laxus who was also sparking every now and then.
"This island is making my hair all frizzy." Evergreen pouted, trying to flatten the stray stands down as she looked in a mirror.
"It's the static from the lightning." Freed said, his hair no better— Kayla had to bite her cheek to stop her laughter as she saw that his hair was floating straight up into the air. Thankfully she managed to keep her expression neutral. "You just have to deal with it."
"Dude, have you seen yourself?" Bickslow laughed, who seemed to be the only one unaffected by the static. Even Laxus and Kayla were effected by it with their occasional sparking.
"Enough standing around." Laxus said, turning towards the forest, "We got a wizard to beat."

The five of them walked through the forest. Under the cover of the trees, the lightning's effect had dampened slightly, allowing Kayla a slight relief from the constant electricity she had been absorbing. She looked around at the forest around her, feeling a chill go up her back at the familiarity of the surroundings.
It looked almost exactly like the forest she ran through when escaping Death's Storm, but that might just be because it was a forest, and most forests looked extremely similar, since they all had trees, and bushes, and dirt pathways, and the feeling of someone watching her, and birds, and—
"You're looking a little pale there, Kayla. You feeling alright?" Everygreen asked, pulling Kayla from her train of thought about forests.
"I'm fine!" Kayla said, wincing at how loud her voice was. "I'm... fine." She repeated, this time with her voice lower.
"Well if you're scared about taking on the Storm Bringer, then worry not, for the Fairy Queen of Fairy Tail will take care of them!"
"Isn't Erza—"
"Sh. We don't speak her name." Evergreen said.
"Alright." Kayla squeaked.
"Evergreen, Newbie, quiet down. We're getting close." Laxus said, not even glancing his shoulder to look at Kayla and Evergreen, who both just nodded and continued to follow him, now in silence.
As the trees started to part, the electricity from the lightning got stronger once again, and Kayla once again started to spark at her fingers. Though as she got closer to were the so called Storm Bringer was, the feeling of electricity got storer— almost to the point where it almost overwhelmed her completely, not to mention it caused the seal on her arm to start pulsing slightly.
Laxus stopped just outside of some tall walls— apparently whoever was impersonateing Kayla had decided the ruins of a castle would be a great hideout and totally not the most obvious hideout someone could think of.
"Chances are, whoever is in there has already sensed our arrival." Laxus started, "So there's no need for us to sneak around."
Bickslow laughed, "So we're storming in?" He asked, the totems behind him repeating 'storming in' a few times.
Laxus grinned, "You know it."
