Chapter 10

"Man, I can't believe that the guy wasn't there." Lucy pouted, "There goes potential rent money."

The group was sitting on a train heading back to Magnolia after the requestor never showed up to the agreed meeting spot, and Kayla was sitting across from a passed out Natsu laying on Erza's lap due to his motion sickness.

"At least we get to keep the journal." Gray pointed out. "What's even in it anyways?"

"That's a good question, Kayla, do you mind?" Erza said, nodding towards Kayla who was holding the journal. "It was said to hold some valuable information tat Dark guilds could use. I'm rather interested in what that information could be."

"Right." Kayla said, placing the journal on her lap and opening it. She skimmed over the pages as her breath hitched. Trying hard to conceal her emotions, she handed the journal to Erza, knowing that she wouldn't be able to talk without her voice shaking and betraying how he actually felt.

Erza's eyes skimmed the pages as well, "Death's Storm," She said simply.

"The guild that takes almost all those mercenary jobs, right?" Lucy asked, her voice shaking slightly in fear.

Erza flipped through the pages, skimming the contents of each. "It's talking about a demon from the Book of Zeref. One named Amiol. The plans in here are about reviving Amiol with the magic power equal to five powerful wizards."

"The Fearsome Five." Gray stated simply.

"Who knew those five are strong enough to resurrect one of Zeref's Demons." Lucy stated.

"But it might kill them." Kayla said softly, getting their attention on her.

"What do you mean?" Erza asked, looking at Kayla with a calculating gaze.

"Ah... well, Zeref's demons are strong, right? So to use the five wizard's magic, it might use all of their magic just to resurrect the demon, ending with—"

"Their Death." Lucy finished. "Those five are willing to risk their lives to resurrect one of Zeref's demons."

"Aye... That's truly evil." Happy said.

Kayla's fists clenched in her lap as she looked at the journal. Even her lightheadedness couldn't mask the overwhelming feeling of fear and grief that ran through her. She tried to console herself with the fact that they didn't know who she was, or the actual story behind the Fearsome five. Her hand subconsciously moved to the seal on her arm. "I guess." She muttered.

"But, this talks as if Death's Storm already knows of this plan, so why hasn't anything happened yet?" Gray asked.

"Those rumors about the fearsome five, could they really be out in the open?" Lucy asked, "I mean, if there haven't been any signs of a demon being resurrected, they're probably not with the dark guild."

"But then, why are they in the run in the first place?"

"Maybe they're not on the run." Erza started, "Maybe they're out to get stronger for the resurrecting of Amiol. Which means we'll have to warn the guild about the potential danger.

Kayla nodded as the others verbally agreed— well, Natsu groaned but it was practically an agreement. Kayla knew that once Fairy Tail knew about it, then the other guilds around Fiore would know and there would be even more of a risk of her and her friends getting captured, speaking of her friends, she hadn't talked to them since they separated, and if the news about Death's Storm were to spread, she needed to warn them to be quiet. The only problem was that she had no idea how to get in contact with them.

After witnessing Laxus throw Natsu halfway across the guild for abducting Kayla and brining her along on their own job, Kayla went into the forest and sat down in front of a tree with a communication lacrima in front of her. She didn't know where any of her friends were, but it was a dire situation and she hoped that she would be able to reach them- the lacrima was magic after all. Placing her hand on the crystal, before looking at it. She jumped slightly once an old woman appeared inside the orb.

"Who're you? What are you calling the Lamia Scale Guild for? Tell me or I'll spin ya!"

"Um, my name is Kayla and I was trying to call a friend of mine. Her name if Valorie, you know her?"

The old woman looked at her through the Lacrima before disappearing for a few seconds before a familiar face appeared. Kayla's eyes lit up as she saw her.

"Kay!" Valorie said, a grin on her face. "It's been a while, how're you doing?"

"Everything is alright, I've managed to join Fairy Tail, and honestly, everything is better than that guild."

"I know, April and I stumbled upon Lamia Scale." Valorie moved to show her guild mark before Kayla heard her shout for April, the shorter brunette appearing in the Lacrima.

"Kayla." April said with a soft smile. "It's good to see you."

Kayla nodded, "It's good to see you too, both of you are looking well. Though, I'm sorry to turn this conversation into a serious one. I want both of you to be careful. On my last job, we found a journal. It was... my moms."

"Your mom's? But she's—" Valorie started before April placed a hand over the taller girl's mouth.

"I know. It mentioned the plan Death's Storm has about that demon from Zeref's book. They're going to tell the guild to keep an eye out for the five of us. And the news will most likely spread throughout Fiore. Wizards will be keeping an eye out for us. Be cautious and careful."

"Of course." April said with a nod, her hand still covering Valorie's mouth. "You be careful as well. Call us again soon."

"Right." Kayla said with a smile before their image on the Lacrima disappeared. Now that she knew that trying to find the person would work, she placed her hand on it again and it flickered slightly before the image of a familiar ginger haired, fox-eared girl appeared.

"Kayla! It's been too long! You're lookin fancy— though not as fancy as me!" Melody said, adjusting the collar of the tux she had on. "You're looking at a member of Mermaid Heel, in the flesh."

Kayla chuckled, "Good to see you're doing alright. Though I can't talk long. I have a warning."

Melody's ears twitched as she tiled her head slightly. And Kayla told her the same thing she told Valorie and April.

"Yeah, got it. I'll make sure to be careful, we don't want anything to happen." Melody said, her ears perked and she looked to the side, "I gotta go, teams calling for me." With that, her image disappeared, and left Kayla to call the last person.

The lacrima flicked to an image of a balding man with makeup appeared. She jumped slightly, but managed to conceal her shock.

"My, my. What's the honor of a pretty young girl like you calling our guild?"

"I'm trying to reach Finnian." Kayla said, not letting her shock show through.

The man clasped his hands together, "Oh, of course! Let me go grab him for you!" His image disappeared from the screen and she saw Finny in the Lacrima.

"Hello fair madden, what did I do to deserve a call from someone such aaaaahh Kayla! It's nice to see you!" He exclaimed, his face turning red as Kayla looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"I'm a fair maiden now?" Kayla teased, she spotted a familiar symbol on the suit jacket he was wearing. "I see you joined Blue Pegasus."

Finny nodded, scratching the back of his head, "Anyways, why'd you call me? I mean, I'm apply to see you're good and all, but—"

Kayla rolled her eyes and told him what she told the others.

Finny nodded once he was told everything. "Well, I'll be careful, but you be careful as well."

Kayla nodded and the Lacrima shut off. She sighed and grabbed it, standing up and walking back to the guild. She had warned her friends, the only thing now was for her to hope that nobody learns the truth about who they really were.

_____
WHOOT! The others are alive!! Now I can finally add the pictures I drew of them y e e t

(Melody changed a lot from the original. I really like this design of her more if I'm being honest)

I love Valorie. So freaking much.
and like... not to be dramatic or anything but I would die for her.

Also... Finny will have to wait because male anatomy is a struggle.
