Chapter 45: Sticky Situation
Chapter 45
Uh.... well a update after a hell long time...?
THIRD PERSON P.O.V.
The cicada's obnoxious songs were loud as ever although summer was coming to a end.
Konomi sat at her desk, her lilac colored eyes zoning onto the small tank that sat at the corner. The four colorful goldfish swam elegantly, the small bubbles released from the pump drifting toys the surface of the water.
"Konomi-chan! You should start to head to school!"
The lilac haired female snapped out of her state and stood up, gently pushing the chair in.
As she walked down the stairs, she was greeted by her mother and her two dogs waiting at the door.
"You don't want to be late on the first day of second semester," Misuzu cooed as handed her daughter her lunch, giving the taller girl a kiss.
Konomi smiled and patted Roki and Jake's head, the two dogs leaning in into her touch.
"I'm off, bye mom."
"Say hi to Karma-kun for me!"
Konomi's cheeks flushed as she sent her mother a glare before walking to Kungigaoka junior high.
"Ohayo Konomi-chan!!" Kayano greeted enthusiastically as she ran to the tall female. Konomi slowed her steps, matching her pace so the small girl could keep up with her.
The two started to animatedly speak with each other while the rest of class E slowly started to gather at the main campus, preparing for the opening ceremony of second semester.
"How are you, Konomi-chan? I've never got to ask you when we saw each other at the festival," Nagisa who joined to two questioned.
Although Konomi didn't let it show on her face, she knew the light blue haired male was talking about her mental health.
It's been a few weeks since they had return from the island school trip where the secret she had kept hidden was revealed to her classmates.
Although most people haven't really changed how they acted around her, she realized some people also seemed a bit more careful. Some unusual people who she would have never expected to do so.
"Stop walking so slow, Royal."
Konomi's eyes met with the said male who recently changed. Terasaka scowled as he stuffed his hands into his pockets, looking slightly annoyed.
She moved out of the way, sending the rude male a friendly smile before answering Nagisa's question, "I've been good, I've been studying hard these past few days to get ahead."
The female smiled to herself as she looked at Terasaka's back as he walked away.
Although the male was known to be rude, Konomi has realized that he has become a bit softer around her, stopping his glaring. He now called her by her last name instead of 'Bitch' or 'Omae' and acknowledged her when they made eye contact.
Konomi chuckled to herself, maybe Terasaka actually has a soft heart, he had changed after he heard her story after all.
"Oh it's been a while, Class E."
Konomi closed her eyes and tiredly rubbed at her eyelids.
'Here we go again...'
Class E all grimaced as they made eye contact with the five virtuosos who grinned or smirked wickedly.
Konomi immediately placed a cold smile on her face and took a step forward to face them properly. She stood tall and proud, a air of confidence raiding off of her.
The expression on the four males changed slightly as they became nervous with the lilac haired female's appearance.
"It has hasn't it? I hope you had a wonderful vacation," Konomi's voice dripped with sarcasm as she sent them a sickeningly sweet smile.
'Ahaha... Konomi-chan is powerful and scary as ever....' Nagisa thought as he watched the scene unfold. He sweat dropped as the class A students started to cower away from Konomi.
"W-Well... I'm sure seconds semester will be tough for you too," Seo spluttered, trying to act confident under Konomi's sharp stare.
"Y-Yes, try not to be too discouraged! Hihihihi....." Koyama tried to sound confident as he pushed his glasses up his nose, though his voice came out in slight squeaks as the lilac orbs shifted to him.
Konomi smiled widely, "Oh, that's so kind of you A class students to worry about us E class! But don't worry, I'll make sure to help my classmates study for the test, they're all rather smart kids you see."
Although her words may seemed innocent, she was giving them a hidden promise, silently planning how their soul should be crushed in humiliation as they lose against her on the next test.
"W-Well, as the t-top students, we need to go help prepare, e-excuse us," the four males quickly escaped, eager to leave Konomi who only smiled wickedly.
Konomi snorted in triumph and lightly flipped her hair over her shoulder.
"Weaklings," she muttered under her breath in English, quite amused how quickly their attitudes changed.
Maehara nudged Isogai with his elbow, sweating nervously, "At times like these, I'm glad that I'm friends with her. I can't imagine having her as an enemy..." The orange haired male shuddered.
Isogai sweat dropped and hesitantly laughed, agreeing to what his best friend said.
"Well, you took care of that fairly well."
Konomi gulped as a arm was thrown over her shoulder, the side of her body pressed against another.
She composed herself by taking a long breath through her nose, "Let me go, it's hot," the teen grumbled as she pushed off Karma's arm.
The corner of the red haired male's lips tugged up in amusement as he noticed Konomi's nose twitch in irritation.
Konomi turned away from the male and casually walked away. Though in the inside she was screaming to herself in panic, heat starting to craw up her neck and turning her cheeks into a rosy blush.
'Oh my god, I can't do this....' Konomi thought in panic as she placed her hands on her cheeks, trying to cool down the burning.
>>TIME SKIPS>>
Tears gathered at the corner of Konomi's eyes as she let out a loud yawn escaped her lips.
"Is it almost done yet...?" She whispered to Nagisa who was intently listening to the opening ceremony.
The said male shrugged his shoulders, not knowing the answer.
"Now then, I have one last announcement for everyone before this ceremony ends," Araki spoke into the mic, smirking, "Starting today class 3A will be adding a new member to their ranks. Until yesterday, he was in Class E."
Konomi's drowsiness immediately flew away as she and her classmates stared at the stage in disbelief.
"Although he was in class E, with his diligent efforts, he received excellent grades and has earned the permission to return to the main campus."
Konomi's surprise disappeared from her face as she blankly stared at the stage where Takebayashi stood in front of the mic.
For the rest of the class E student, they weren't able to hide their shock, many of them gapping at the scene in front of them.
Konomi sighed and slowly slipped out of line, quietly exiting the auditorium as Takebayashi started his speech.
She lazily scratched her neck and started to climb up the trail to where class E is located.
When she reached the class she sat down at her desk, pulling out her textbook to study the new chapter.
Thirty minutes after she arrived, the rest of the teenagers arrived, most of them showing distress.
"Dammit!" Maehara angrily slammed his arm into the black board, "What's with that guy?! I can't believe he threw away a chance at 10 billion yen to ditch us," the teen snarled, openly showing his anger.
As the class started to discuss what they were going to do, Kataoka spoke up.
"Konomi-chan, you've been awfully quiet. Isn't there anything you want to say that's on your mind?" The female questioned, hoping the intelligent lilac haired female had a good idea.
Konomi closed her book and calmly looked at her classmates.
"I think that none of us has a right to go talk to Takebayashi-kun to question his action."
The class became silent with her harsh words.
"B-But! Takebayashi has been our classmates for this long, I can't understand why he'll just leave us when we all have a connection!" Okada argued.
Konomi sighed as she propped her cheek on her hand, "That may be true but we don't know what's happening behind closed doors. Takebayashi-kun was our classmates, but we actually don't know him well enough to assume anything. If he has a reason why he wanted to go to the main campus, I think we should respect that."
The lilac haired female stood up and threw her bags over her shoulder, "Though I'm sure none of you guys will listen to my words because you guys are so stubborn," she chuckled, "I have to go somewhere after school today so I'll have to pass on your stalking mission, don't make it too hard on Takebayashi-kun alright?"
The class watched as the lilac haired female nonchalantly waved her hand in goodbye before leaving the classroom behind.
"That was quite cold of her wasn't it....?" Kurahashi whispered, quite shocked at what Konomi said.
'But she isn't wrong as well....' Few of them thought as they looked down at their hands.
"I still think we should at least go see him," Nagisa spoke up as he smiled gently, "I would like to listen to what he has to say."
The class nodded in agreement, quickly deciding on their action.
KONOMI P.O.V.
"That's perfect Konomi-chan! Just tilt your head slightly to the right! Perfect!!!"
The lights from the camera flashes as Monoka-San snapped pictures along with few staff members.
"Alright~ Kira-kun! Takanori-kun! We're ready for you!"
I smiled at the two males as they stood on either side of me.
"Wow, you look so pretty Konomi-chan!!" Kira-kun gushed as he wrapped a arm over my shoulder.
Though the blond squeaked as Takanori smacked him on his forehead with his finger.
"We're at a job, concentrate."
The corner of my lips tugged up in amusement as the navy haired male stared into the camera, ignoring my stares.
"Why do you have to be so upset, it's not my fault I had a school trip where I was too busy to have any meetings," I nonchalantly questioned after a picture of us were taken.
Takanori took a pose as the camera was flashed, "It's irresponsible."
I didn't flinch as Kira-kun was asked to move by the camera crew, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, his face buried at my hip.
Takanori took the other side, his cold hands placed on my chin and neck, pulling me close.
"Perfect!" The loud voice of the camera man was heard on the background before we changed poses again.
After countless of times changing and getting our photos taken, the three of us sat at the waiting room, munching on snacks provided by the staff. I struggled slightly with the heaviness of the historic clothes I wore. Even the boys seems to be slightly annoyed with the fake wigs they had to wear.
"So are you really only a third year in middle school?" Kira-kun questioned curiously, snacking on some rice crackers.
I cocked my head to the side, "Yes? Didn't I tell you?"
"You did! But you don't really act like a middle school brat! You even look older than some of the girls my age, beating them in ero-"
"Kira, shut up."
The blond immediately shut his mouth as Takanori snapped at him, sending the male a daring look.
Kira-kun raised his hands in front of him in defense, a small smirk on his face.
I sweat dropped at their interaction, finding it slightly annoying how Kira-kun was acting so obnoxious even though I know he isn't like that in reality.
I was just getting a feeling he was quite similar to Karma, having some kind of dark side to him underneath his silly mask.
"Oi."
I snapped out of my suspicious thought and turned my attention to the dark navy haired male who sat in a chair, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Do you have time now?"
"Ohh!! Asking Konomi-chan out for a date, Taka-chan?" Kira-kun immediately jumped up in glee, his blue eyes shining in mischief.
Takanori glared at the blond, "No, we need to work on the choreography before we can released the MV, idiot."
I sighed and spoke up, knowing if I didn't do so right now, they would start to bicker, "I'm open for about two hours, after that I have to go somewhere," my thoughts went back to the summer festival where I made Yuuma-kun a promise to visit his family.
"That's fine," Takanori muttered as he glared at Kira-kun, "You better not start anything Kira, I don't want to clean after your mess."
The blond only snickered as he waved his hand off, smiling at us, "Have fun you two~"
>>TIME SKIPS>>
"Why do you need that much cake?" The male questioned me, adjusting the sweat towel around his neck.
"Kids love cake, and these kids I'm going to see can't always get them often so it's going to be a present for them," I answered as I pointed at five more different cakes at the owner who I've come to known.
She happily packed up the cakes in boxes, "I've been making a new recipe again Konomi-chan! It'll be wonderful if you tasted them for me, I'll love to hear the opinion of my number one customer," the owner with cheeks that were always a rosy pink smiled.
I beamed at the older women, agreeing happily. My mood seemed to get even better as she handed me a freshly made donut as a small gift as I left the store.
Of course Takanori got one as well, munching on it silently. Though he paused, looking at me in disbelief as we stood in front of a rundown apartment.
"You're kidding right?" He deadpanned, as he pointed at a crack on the wall.
I shook my head, rolling my eyes slightly as well, "No, thanks for dropping me off," I smiled at him sweetly, brushing my lilac colored hair out of my face.
The navy haired male gave me unsure look before nodding, "If something happens call me. See you tomorrow morning."
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion for a moment before I shrugged it off, walking to the door knocking on it.
"Coming!!" A cheerful voice squealed as the door opened up, revealing two children who had obvious antennas on top of their heads.
They both froze, looking up at me, their mouth opened.
I smiled at them, immediately finding the resemblance to Yuuma-kun.
"Hi, there," I cooed, "Is Yuuma-kun here?" I questioned as I crouched down so I was eye leveled with them.
Although their mouth continued to stay open, both of the children nodded quickly.
The little girl seemed to be the first to snap out of her trance. She quickly turn around, running into the apartment screaming at the top of her lungs.
"YUUMA-ONIICHAN!! THERE'S A PRETTY LADY HERE FOR YOU!!!"
The little boy also seemed to snap out of his shock as he ran after his sister, screaming as well.
"YUUMA-NIICHAN'S GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!"
I immediately sweat dropped, my shoulders dropping. I could hear the yells of the children from where I stood at the door, patiently waiting for them.
The two children came back, each of them having a firm hold of the male's hand as they dragged him.
"What are you two talking abo–" Yuuma-Kun's mouth fell open as he saw me at his door.
I smiled brightly, lazily waving a hand, "Hey."
>>TIME SKIPS>>
"Konomi-chan, thank you for the cake!!" Utano-chan beamed, her cheeks a rosy pink as she took a big bite of her strawberry shortcake.
Her brother, Rikuto-kun sat beside her, eating the last bite of his cake, looking as equally as happy as his sister.
I held in a laughter as I saw their little antenna on top of their heads wiggle. They were too similar with their brother....
"Really, thank you Konomi-chan, you really didn't have to," my classmate gave me an apologetic look as he placed a cup of tea in front of me.
I rolled my eyes, "Oh come on, I selfishly came and selfishly acted on my own," I opened the box of cake I brought, placing another slice of the children's plate, "Also, you let me join for dinner."
Both Utano-chan and Rikuto-Kun's eyes widen as they looked at me.
I couldn't help myself but smile at them, "Come on you two, eat more. I brought all these cakes for you, it'll be a shame if you guys don't eat them," at my words their eyes shined as they quickly dug in.
Placing my hand on my cheek, I watch them eat before turning my attention to Yuuma-kun who also watched.
"So, Maehara-Kun wasn't lying when he said you can cook goldfish well," I chuckled, thinking about what I ate moments ago. My thought went to my own goldfish that swam in their tank at home. How lucky were they to not become the Isogai families dinner.
The dark haired male in front of me looked embarrassed as he scratched his cheek, "What has Hiroto been telling people...?" He grumbled to himself.
I chuckled before looking away from my classmate as I felt a tug on my shirt.
"Yes, Utano-chan?" I questioned, smiling down at the little girl, couple strands of my lilac colored hair falling into my face.
The female innocently smile, "Are you really Yuuma-oniichan's classmate?"
"I am," I cooed back, slyly patting her little antennas down. They immediately sprang up, going back to their original state.
She hummed and turned her attention back to the cake in plate.
I chucked before looking at Yuuma-kun who also watched his younger sibling.
"My mother is actually at a doctors appointment until late today, I don't think you can meet her," the dark haired male sent me a apologetic look.
I waved it off smiling, "It's okay, I'm sure I'll see her somewhere eventually, it's my fault for suddenly coming anyways."
A silence fell over is for a moment before I broke it. "For the next few days I'm probably not coming to school because of work."
Yuuma-kun looked surprised at the news.
"I've already told Tada-san but I haven't spoken to Koro-sensei because he would have freaked out about it if I told him in advance," I tiredly admit as I scratch my head, imagining the yellow octopus scolding me for missing class.
"Why are you telling me this....?" The male suddenly questioned, looking confused:
I smiled, getting up to my feet, "Well I assumed it would be best to tell my dear class president before I went missing. Especially when he could calm down people like Kaede-chan who might assume crazy things like kidnapping."
I patted both Rikuto-kun and Utano-chan's head before grabbing my bag, "It's getting late so I'll go."
Yuuma-kun sprang up to his feet as led me to his door.
"Thank you for visiting us today, Konomi-chan," the male sent me a charming smile, his cheeks turning a slight pink color.
I giggled and nodded, "Thanks for letting me in although it was sudden, please say hello to your mother and enjoy the cakes," I grinned, pulling the strap of my bag over my shoulder, "I expect you to keep the peace of the class while I'm gone," jokingly I sent him a mischievous smile, making him sweat drop.
"Oh no..."
I laughed whole heartedly before waving a goodbye at the male. I hummed as I walked down the slightly dark street, heading home.
Though my eyes narrowed as I started to hear footsteps behind me. Without turning back, quickened my pace, carefully listening to the footsteps.
They picked up.
With my lilac colored eyes narrowed, I broke into a sprint, jumping and pulling myself up a tall wall that acted as a fence of a house. My eyes shifted to the form that was following for a moment before I ran on top of the wall, being careful of not falling.
As soon as I saw a open convenience store I jumped down the safety of my wall, entering the store nonchalantly.
I walked down one aisle, picking up a packet of lollipops while calling a number on my phone.
It didn't ring even once before my dad picked it up.
"Lilac! Why aren't you home yet?" Dad's voice seemed slightly concerned. My eyes shifted to the clock on the wall before speaking up.
"I was hanging out at a friend's house. Anyways I was walking down a street and realized someone was following me. I'm at the convenience store near our house right now and-"
"I'll be there in five."
I couldn't finish my sentence as the call ended. With a sigh I picked a couple of other lollipops and looked down the aisle of food, wanting to have have something to eat.
I didn't hesitate to buy a corn dog, a small container of fried chicken and two hot meat buns. The clerk who was a young male seemed surprise about the amount of food I bought, staring at my face while he checked out my items.
I sent him an amused smile before sitting down at a small section of the convenience store that allowed customers to eat. I immediately started to munch on my food, quickly devouring the corn dog and chicken.
"Lilac!"
I looked up and saw my blond father run in, a concerned look on his face.
"Are you oka-"
I cut him off, thrusting my hand forward, handing him one of my steamed meat buns.
He silently took it into his hand while I bit into mine.
"I think they're waiting outside," I nonchalantly state as chew, throwing away my trash before walking to the counter again, buying a cup of hot coffee.
My blond father hummed in response, finishing his own meat bun, swallowing, "Thats what I thought. When I walked here, I felt like I had people watching me."
Brushing my hair behind my ear, I take a sip out of my steaming cup, "Let's make it a game?"
"How many more you can beat?" A mischievous glint appeared in my father's lavender eyes making the corner of my lips tug up.
That's what I like about my dad. He understand my type of fun.
"You bet," I nod as the two of us walk out of the convenience store naturally, making small talk to each other as we entered a empty streets.
Seeing a movement from the corner of my eye, I tucked, avoiding the baseball bat swung at me before throwing the steaming coffee in hand, successfully hitting my attacker on his face.
The man let out a scream of pain as the hot liquid burned not only his face but his eyes that were wide open.
Dad was handling his own opponent, easily defeating the first before moving on to a new one.
My lilac colored eyes were carefully observing our opponents. They didn't seem too old, actually they seemed pretty young, probably high school students? Probably a group of delinquents, but for what reason did they attack us?
I dodged a swing from a metal pipe, flipping in the air before slamming my heel at the corner of the guys shoulder, making him collapse to the floor. While I fought I pulled my phone out, calling Tada-San.
Although he didn't pick up as quickly as when Dad did, he did answer with a tired, "Hello?"
"Hey Tada-San!" I cheerfully greet as I dodged a male who yelled as he attacked me.
I could hear the groan he released, "What in the world is going on over there?" I could imagine him rolling his eyes.
"Well, Dad and I are currently getting attacked by some group of delinquents on the street. I was wondering if you could call one your police friends and get them to come pick them up, most of them are going to be needed some medical care," a small giggle escaped your lips before you punched a male right between in eyebrows, knocking his out.
"How many?"
You hummed, counting the bodies around you, "Uh, twenty if you're including the guy Dad's trying to question. Though the guy looks like he's going to pee his pants before he faints," your eyes widened slightly as the guy did exactly what you said before slumping onto the floor, "There he goes..."
Tada-san's sigh reached my ears, "Got it, I'll send help right now..."
~*~
"Thank you for the help, Mr. Royal. These fellows here a rather active gang members around here. We're glad we've finally captured them," a police men spoke to Dad who was smiling charmingly.
"Oh it was our pleasure, I'm just glad both my daughter and I got away without getting hurt," Dad chirped, giving the police officer a firm handshake before allowing them to leave with them.
The two of us watched the police cars drive off. I grew slightly nervous as Dad gave me a stern look.
"We have to talk about this."
Damn... This is probably going to lead us to another sticky situation...
