Chapter 1
My nose twitched in irritation as I sat in front of my parents who were happily chatting with each other.
"Why so glum Lilac?" Dad questioned, sending a cheerful grin at me.
I chewed and swallowed my rice before meeting my dad's eyes, "Jet lag, I don't know how you two can be cheerful and energetic when we just arrived yesterday morning," grumbling, I rubbed the slightly darker circles under my eyes, "And why are we all suddenly speaking in Japanese?"
My parents both frowned before sharing a look with each other.
"Well, we are living in Japan now, and your father has to get better at using Japanese rights?" Mom chirped, though her warm brown eyes scrutinizing me carefully.
"You have at least two hours before school starts," Dad commented as he placed his dishes in the sink, his purple eyes looking over at my uniform that consisted of a grey skirt and a similar blazer, "It's such boring thing for my daughter to wear."
Mom was suddenly standing beside my father, looking at me with her dark brown eyes.
"And those circles underneath her eye do not look healthy," she commented lightly, placing a hand on her cheek in worry.
"We have two hours..."
Both my parents smiled, grabbing my shoulder with their hands.
"Dear, I'll get the circles covered, you do something with her uniform," Mom smiled as she took me by the hand.
Dad nodded as he went to search for the bag that held my other pair of the uniform that I had received.
The shorter woman known as my mother immediately took me to my room and made me sit on my bed as she pulled out a makeup box that was used for my previous work.
My two dogs, Jake the border collie and Roki the Australian Shepard followed us, laying down on the carpet on the floor.
"Mom, it's not really necessary. It isn't like I'm trying to impress anyone," I bluntly state as I nonchalantly look out the window.
Mom smiled at me, her white teeth peaking out of her pink lips, "That doesn't matter, it's your first day. And Konomi, you are my precious, gorgeous daughter, I want you looking the best."
My mother could be stubborn as my father. Although she seemed like a quiet, typical Japanese house wife, she was extremely strong and sharp tongue when there was something she disliked.
Yesterday, as soon as we arrived in Tokyo, my mother's stubbornness made me have a rather painful headache. Even though my father was stating she should rest after the long thirteen hour flight, she demanded she allowed to go out to see her younger brother, my uncle Tada. And she successfully did after threatening my father with a bone chilling smile.
And by the time she left my father was crying at me, saying, 'My precious wife, Misuzu has abandoned me!!!'
Now while Mom left me, she went to go see her younger brother. I've only met him couple of times, though I did have a clear memory of my mother's younger brother. He looked nothing like my soft featured mother....
"Close your eyes, I'm adding foundation to cover these circle," mom's gentle voice snapped me out of my mental thoughts.
Without hesitation, I did as she told me, softly closing my dull purple eyes.
"The foundation should be the only thing you should need, you already have mascara on with some chapstick," Mom quietly stated as she gently applied the foundation with a sponge.
A small silence fell between us until I spoke up, "What kind of school is Kunugigaoka?" I questioned in curiosity. It's been too long since I've last went to school with other students.
Mom hummed slightly as she dabbed at my face, "Etto, from what Paddy researched, it's a private school that's known to be one of the top schools in Tokyo and has many talented students. They accepted you as soon as we sent them your information from the past few years, okay you can open your eyes now."
I blinked and looked at myself in the mirror, seeing that my dark circles underneath my eyes were perfectly hidden.
"Thanks mom, you know, I'm a bit worried with my Japanese," I suddenly admit, looking at myself in the mirror.
Mom pops up from behind me, running her hand through my long strands of lilac colored hair, "I'll do your hair as well since your father probably isn't ready with your uniform yet. And you shouldn't worry about that. Look, we're having a perfectly normal conversation in Japanese. You've always been able to speak Japanese and English fluently because of your Father and I," she spoke as she moved my shorter bangs and part of my hair to the front while pulling the rest of it back.
I could speak Japanese but...
"I'm more worried about the class. Even though you did make me take Japanese, since I never used them regularly in America like here, I'm not confident with my reading and writing skills as much as I hope to be," I state my worry as I watch my mother who's concentrating with my hair.
In her mouth she has multiple hair pins while she has a black bow clip in her hand.
Momently she clipped most of my hair up as she added a braid to the side of my head. Then gathering the braid and the hair that was clipped up, she tied my hair into a high pony tail.
"You should be fine," mom stated as she grabbed a curling iron and plugging it in, "I've seen you read novels in Japanese, and you're a fast learner like I am. You'll do great," mom assured me with a smile, her dark brown eyes looking at me in warmth, "I'm more excited that you might meet a boy here."
I lightly sweat dropped at my mom's childish giggles but stayed still as she started to curl the ends of the strands of hair in the pony tail.
As she finished the very last strand, my father slammed the door open, panting slightly.
Mom was smiling but she was looking at Dad with a threatening look, "How many times do I have to tell you to knock when you enter Konomi's room?" Mom questioned as she gave Dad a closed eyed smile, "She is no longer a baby, dear. What would you do if she was changing?"
Dad looked scared for a moment before he looked at me happily, "I finished your uniform!!! I redesigned it and added details!!!" He excitedly yelled.
My eyes moved to the uniform in his hand, looking at it closely.
The simple grey skirt now had black lace frills at the bottom and had some black buttons. It also seemed like he completely got rid of the grey blazer. Replacing it was a white and light blue dress shirt and a black cardigan that had stripes of white near the collar. Near the waist, there was a small pink ribbon on both sides. The necktie seemed the same except there were small pins with small characters on it.
I looked at my father with my eyebrows raised, "Did you just get this all ready?" I questioned in disbelief.
Dad puffed his chests out proudly, "Of course!"
A small smile made it to my lips as I shook my head, "Dad, this is like the clothes I wear for a photo shoot, I honestly don't know how you did it," I complement my father who looked extremely pleased.
Mom laughed as she pushed her long hair back with her hand, "Come on Caleb, let her get dressed in peace, you can fix the outfit as soon as she changes."
Mom dragged a pouting Dad by his ear before closing the door of my room.
Although still slightly untidy, I still got most of my things already unpacked.
Swiftly changing into my uniform that was redesigned, I looked at myself in the mirror. The only items that I kept on were my silver key necklace and my thigh high socks.
I smiled at my two dogs that were panting while looking at me, "Jake, Roki! What do you guys think?" I questioned as I did a small twirl.
Both dogs barked together, their pink tongues rolling out of their mouths.
A small chuckle escaped my mouth before I petted them on the heads, giving a small kiss on their nose.
My eyes shifted to my wall that had a analog clock. It's almost time to go...
I went through my closet, pulling out a sky blue zip up jacket and slipped it on because it was slightly chilly. Grabbing my backpack, I swung it over my shoulder before waking out of my room, Jake and Roki following behind me.
"Dad! Mom! It's about time for me to go!" I yelled walking to the door steps. As I moved to slip my shoes on I heard foots steps running towards me.
"How's the uni-"
Dad paused as he stared at me.
"Misuzu!!! What should I do?! I can't let Konomi go out like this or she'll be attacked by those hormonal wolves!" Dad screamed as he hugged my petite mother.
Mom looked at Dad in slight annoyance, pushing him off of her with just her arm strength, "Caleb you were the one that redesigned the uniform. And," Mom looked at me, smiling, "I think our daughter looks just fine. She'll be having boys chasing after her," at the end she giggled, covering her mouth in glee.
Another wail escaped Dad's mouth as he anime cried, "No....! No boys!!!! Misuzuuuuu!!!! Please don't say such horrifying thing!!!!"
I rolled my lilac eyes and grabbed the small lunch box mom handed me.
"I'll be going then, there's nothing to worry Dad. I've taken so many different martial arts classes with you. You know my strength, I'll kick and punch any perverts away," I assured, winking at my blond father that was still wailing.
I quickly escaped the house before Dad caused even more ruckus. I waved a goodbye at Mom who was holding Dad by the ear, preventing him from following me to school.
The neighborhood streets already had crowds students walking through, heading to school.
Although I noticed the looks I was receiving, I walked uncaring while looking at the small map Mom had drawn for me.
Though after five minutes or so, I noticed many people who were wearing the Kunugigaoka school uniform walking.
I carefully observed them with my eyebrows furrowed.
They were all so.... Uh, enthusiastic.....? Note the sarcasm.
I sweat dropped, scratching my cheek with my finger in confusion. None of them wore any accessories, no makeup. No care in appearance what so ever, which I found extremely rare for teenagers their age. They weren't smiling or talking, just walking down the street with a neutral expression. Almost like robots.
Though my attention immediately went to two students who looked slightly different.
A boy with sky blue hair and a girl with green hair. Both of them wearing the Kunugigaoka uniform but unlike the other students, they were laughing, seeming to be enjoying each other's company.
My eyes shifted back to the other uniformed student but clearly, their face were stoic, not seeming to care about anything.
My interest seemed to spike when I realized that we were already at the gate of the school. When my eyes went back to the two students, I tilted my head to the side in confusion.
Unlike the rest of the students they didn't enter the gate of the school, instead they walked to the gate in front of a mountain next to the school.
My looked at my map in my hand and looked at it carefully. Mom did draw a mountain next to the school. But she clearly wrote, 'Kunugigaoka is next to a mountain, you won't get lost. I promise.'
A small sigh escaped my lips as I fondled with a piece of my bang. My attention went back to the mountain but by then, the two students that were wearing the uniform were gone.
Without much choice, I walked through the gate searching for the office.
>>TIME SKIPS>>
Since I was little, I had a habit of twitching my nose when I'm irritated, and I never was able to get rid of it.
That was what was happening right now.
After walking through the hallways and receiving many looks of disgust by female and perverted looks by males, I still didn't lose my composure.
As soon as I was away from other student's gleaming eyes, the twitching of my nose stopped. But it quickly began again as I met the principle.
After few 'pleasant' conversations with him, I immediately knew my opinion of him.
I disliked this man. I disliked him a lot.
At first appearance he was an good looking gentleman that seemed extremely professional.
Though after exchanging words with him and observing his action, I immediately thought of a two faced fox.
The fake smile he threw me, the way he conversed. Everything about him screamed a phony, his voice sly and the way his eyes held a calculating look.
I also felt extremely threatened by his presence. He was an intimating man, someone that I would never really want to have any sort of relation with.
After talking about the test score of my entrance exam that I took few days ago, I learned that I received a 100 on all the subject except Japanese and history, which I received a 95, not that I minded much. One or two problems wrong wasn't much of a big deal.
As soon as I got the chance, I escaped the office with my classroom number.
3-A
The school was rather big and fancy, though I didn't have much trouble searching for the classroom.
Seeing that the door was closed, I opened it with a small sigh.
As soon as I stepped in, I knew all eyes landed on me. Even the teacher was looking at me in somewhat annoyed look.
"Who are you?"
My eyebrows rose hearing the first sentence that came out of my teacher's mouth.
Without a word, I handed my paper to the male teacher who quickly read it.
His eyes widen slightly before he eyes scanned my face.
He placed the paper down and turned towards the silent class.
"We have a new student," he simply stated. He then looked at me, "Introduce yourself."
My nose twitched again, annoyed by this superior act. Though not wanting to cause in problems, I turned towards the class.
My lilac colored eyes were probably filled with annoyance, "Royal Lilac Konomi, pleasure to meet you all."
All the student just stared at me, the girls giving me disgusted looks while the males just stared with familiar flushed cheeks. But over all, most of them seemed like they didn't care.
"Loyal-San received a 590 points on the entrance exam."
My nose twitched again when the teacher pronounced my last name wrong. It's Royal. Not Loyal...
"The back seat is open," the teacher simply stated as he pointed at the empty seat at the back.
Gripping my backpack tightly with my right hand, I walked through the small space between tables.
"Who does she think she is? There's no way she got a 590, that's high as Asano-san's score... What a bitch.... And look at her appearance..."
I paused and turn around, staring right at the girl that whispered those sentence.
My eyes narrowed at the greasy haired female with thick rimmed glasses.
"I don't know you and I won't assume anything. Though I will tell you what I have observed. Although I am not sure if your intelligence level is high enough to know what I'm telling you right now, I will give you little advice. Do not insult people you do not know. And before you start talking about other people's appearance, I would go observe yourself in the mirror. It seems like it's been weeks since your last shower and those extra rolls on your stomach would be better if they were gone. Have you ever heard of lotion? They would do great to moisturize your skin that seems like it's cracking. And please do brush your teeth. Just by your little comment, I thought my nose was going to go bad because of your breath," I politely smile at the female, speaking with perfect, fluent English that had no hint of an Japanese accent.
I swiftly turn around walking to the empty desk before plopping myself down.
I stoically looked at the front where the teacher was standing, ignoring all the shock looks I was receiving.
Little did I notice that one male was looking at me with curiosity and a wide smirk.
